    Well... Those look a bit overenthustiastic.

    Giving it full pot is... Weird.. It still has bugs and glitches and well.. it does not look good enough to get a full pot in the looks dept.

    All I saw is just a shooter with go "fetch" quests. Story most likely will be generic and finished quickly. Difficuty of course nonexistant or won't even matter since story is what people want, might as well go easy mode for quick cosume on story.

    Final Fantasy, Suikoden and Xenogears type of RPG"s had real soul, spirit and emotions around them. They truly were deep, unique and rich in story, music, content and more...

    You seem to be a retro style typ of person seeing how you said those games "had" soul.

    I don´t think Fallout 4 is the type of game that you would enjoy. Fortunatley for Bethesda there are a fair amount of people who love this series as much as you love those old rpg´s =)

    GOTY - TW3 is great too, but it's going to be tough to beat Fallout, it's hard to argue when you get a game and you can just do whatever you want, Fallout gives you that freedom. That go ahead and be creative while playing an open world rpg.

    I tried watching it for the third time in Twitch and got bored really fast again.There are too many boring ideas like seeing players mull over a computer screen reading tons of boring speech trying to get some answers.<p>

    Then the linear one dimensional story bores me as well,i have lost interest in that type of gaming.I prefer to make my own stories,experience a game world the way i want.As well i don't think much at all of the SWTOR similar system of picking  from 3-4 choices on how to respond to some npc,again i prefer non linear game  play,open ended game play.Walking around all game choosing from up dwn left right arrows and npc's is not something that has me feeling any excitement at all.

    Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    The Witcher 3 already beat Fallout 4.

    Steam:
    The Witcher 3 -> 94%
    Fallout 4 -> 79%

    Metacritic Critic Reviews PC:
    The Witcher 3 -> 93
    Fallout 4 -> 87

    Metacritic Critic Reviews PS4
    The Witcher 3 -> 92
    Fallout 4 -> 87

    Metacritic Critic Reviews Xbox1
    The Witcher 3 -> 91
    Fallout 4 -> 88

    Not to mention The Witcher 3 has average User Reviews (Metacritic) at 8.9/10, while Fallout 4 is currently at only 5.0/10.

    I am a Fallout Series fan, so it's hard for me to say it, but Fallout 4 is just a mediocre game. It's getting good reviews only because it's from Bethesda and only because it's probably one the most hyped game of this decade. It's hard to justify paying 60$ for a game that didn't even improve much from Fallout 3 (which was released 7 years ago!), it's really time for Bethesda to upgrade their engine. Fallout 4 is not GOTY material, not even top 3 of 2015 material. I don't think Fallout 4 is a bad game, but Bethesda will need to release quite a few FREE DLCs to justify paying 60$ for this, which I don't see happening.

    xD reading some stuff of these forums about Fallout 4 been hillarious, yesterday when I was half a asleeep the ranting had started already, surprising people are starting to bash on the game RIGHT after the supposed 3rd day of release.
    Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. And the more you know Insanity, is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. But I can tell you that only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

    The only thing Fallout 4 lacks is a co-op. Been having fantastic experience with the game so far. Idk why all the hate on this forum. The graphics are good enough. Besides, fallout/elder scrolls has never been about graphics for bethesda. When fallout 3 released, the best eyecandy at the time was Crysis. Compare both and tell me again if graphics matter. Game is packed full with QoL features. And crafting/modding is a masterpiece. Even Steam Early-Access survival games based around building stuff doesn't nail it as close as Fallout 4. And those too cost 50$.

    Played Witcher 3, did few playthroughs. It's a great game. But you are locked into playing Geralt, who has barely any customization outside of hairstyle/beard. Grindy crafting system and if we count the expack, Heart of Stone, it's even more grindy.

    Both games have fantastic lore. Well i guess they appease to different audiences. On one hand you have kind of modern shooter. In the other a sword fighting fantasy game with more of a tactical combat rather than action combat. Especially if you play on something other than "Easy".

    To me though the freedom Fallout provides already beats on Witcher. Like both games, but if i had to pick I'd go with FO4.

    Someone mentioned that FO4 is not even within the best games of 2015 ... what games did we really get in 2015 worth mentioning, beside Witcher? Assassin's Creed Syndicate? please .... Halo 5? Console peasant?

    Not played the game, only watched on streams. To me it does not look like its brought anything new at all, i would have to agree with one of the verdicts in that list though at 7.5/10, all the others that are 9/10 (or 5/5) are worthless, it is by far not a perfect game.

    I like it a lot, and with already 10 hour inn
    I can for certainty say that it one of my better purchases this year.

    However...
    The PC version is very far from being a "Game of the Year",
    and I can't believe the UI and multipurpose hotkey binding
    is not discussed more than it is.

    So far is has been a major pain to deal with,
    keybindings that are seemingly placed at random,
    with a multitude of purposes that can force you to do several unwanted actions.

    For instance.. the "hold breath" button in sniping mode
    is the same button as 3rd/1st person camera.
    Accept (OK) button and Cancel button are split
    into three different keys and some of them cross over,
    depending on which menu you are inn. And so on and so on..

    Like all other 3D Fallout games it is not something you just play out of the box. =P It is like a bag of cheese doodles... It gets better after i has had some time to mature... =)

    True but

    funny even on 4k I don't find it that nice,

    btw that just looks like a 3rd person shooter to me, not a rpg. also the main reason bethesda games are high rating like always is the modders fixing the game and that takes time at least 6 months in till the first mods came out to fix the whole mess bethesda do on his games.

    ps. taking a rpg and making it a shooter(i'm degrading it from FPS....) and still calling it as the main game and not a spin off, i'm serious the only one who find that wrong?
    FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.
  • tawesstawess Member EpicPosts: 4,227
    But they have always been shooters once they flipped from 2.5 to 3d... So that is a null point with this series (Fallout 3 and forward)

    Agree with the rest even if there is tad bit to much salt in your comment. =P

    You are what is wrong with gamers today. You did not play the game, only watched someone else play and you think you can give out scores. I swear gamers get sillier with every year.

    Let's see, The Witcher 3 is considered GOTY anyway.

    Others would be (in no particular order, just PC Platform):

    - GTA V
    - MGS V
    - Undertale
    - Pillars of Eternity
    - Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Game Series

    And you're right we didn't get many games in 2015 worth mentioning, which shows that FO4 hasn't improved much at all. We're still playing the same FO3 from 2008 except a little better version. I'd name it FO3 Remastered. Halo 5 is on par with FO4, while COD: Black Ops 3 isn't really good and Assasin's Creed Syndicate probably won't be much better.

    If you sit and watch someone stream gameplay for several hours you can get a VERY good idea of the actual game.

    There is no substitute for playing the game yourself but again watching the live play on twitch can give you a really good idea if the game is for you or not
    I disagree with you. When you play, without some streamer distracting you from the game, you get a better idea of the game and its mechanics. In the case of FO4, the ingame tooltips were very helpful and very "on-spot" (for the lack of better word) and it really felt very user friendly. A viewer can get a good idea of the game, but it would be silly to score it without actually playing it. Your score would be as high as someone who doesn't watch soccer usually but does once in a few years after watching just 1 game of team X. It's not how it works.

    On another note, I don't know what's wrong with controls O_O. Mouse scroll to scroll through loot stuff. Keyboard and mouse bindings for dialogue. Overlapping keys are what makes console games playable so it can't be that bad. Beside, you can change the controls yourself.

    Not surprised at all. Remember Skyrim's reviews. It was the same thing with all the bugs and some reviewers really said they can forgive all the bugs because it was a good game. Bethesda could put out crap and reviewer's would love it. It keeps them all working for a living.

    Well, a woman at work purchased it and said she absolutely loved it. She claims there isn't a lot of hand holding (not sure if that's true or not) and also really loved the base building.

    I think this is going to be a "your mileage may vary" game. It seems to be a very divisive game as some really love it and some really hate it.

    It's no longer an RPG with shooter elements. It's a shooter with RPG elements. If ever there was a game to complain about being 'dumbed down', Fallout 4 is it. Funny how the usual detractors of such things have chosen to stay oddly silent about FO4.

    I'm enjoying it but then I enjoy Bethesda games, warts and all. I especially enjoy them shortly after release before our collective consciousness is filled with tips and tricks that trivialize them by making you god-like: I love experimenting and blundering along even if that gets me killed often (save often - you've been warned.) And I love that the same random encounters (quest ones are more canned, of course) can play totally different each time. For example...

    I was following a quest line and poked into a building I didn't need to go into. I was going along exploring and killing ghouls. I cleared a room and was picking up loot and items when an elite ghoul called "The Mythical Glowing One" came out of a side room with a couple of buddies and proceeded to wipe me and Piper rather easily in the confined space.

    After reload (the game autosaves in building transitions - but you have to consciously do it yourself when you're in long overland treks) I was being more careful but couldn't really remember which room he'd been in. So I was going around carefully stealthing this time and quite by accident I saw him through broken floorboards below me. One head shot from stealth followed by a frag grenade and he was toast this time around...

    Does it have bugs? You bet. I keep running into the same one (PC) after hacking a terminal where I tab out and then find myself frozen in place, able to look around but not interact with anything - it's made me leery of dealing with terminals and got me in the habit of quick saving just before I do it. One particular terminal I had to do 4 times before it let me tab-out and continue playing properly.

    Is the interface sort of wonky? Yup. As an example... when you're crafting, tab gets you out of menu to the previous one or just out of the interface for that station altogether... except for the house and world item building one where you have to use the arrow keys to navigate through all the nested menus and escape this time instead of tab. Depending on what you're doing, like someone else above said, sometimes the same key will do different things: left alt hold and release will throw a grenade, left alt (careful not to hold and release!) with a ranged weapon equipped, will melee with the weapon... hands up anyone else on the PC who has already blown themselves up with a frag grenade doing this? Getting out of the power armor when you first find and use one? Why, hold E down of course (had to google that one.) Use the light on that nifty miner's helmet you found? Hold tab this time...

    But yet, I really am ready to be more forgiving of all of these clunky things that I would not be so forgiving of in many other games just because the overall experience is very fun: the game is humongous and the possibilities are almost endless. 8.5 - 9 is the range where I'd personally rate it - I think this site actually got it in the right ballpark.
