My dream game would be an mmo that mixes both gaming and public art creation. I know some games have tried innovative ideas only to crash and burn with the general public reception. It's not innovation that burns bridges with consumers. It is the not predicting what your customers want. Often, they don't even know what they want.
There is a list of several sure bets tho:
1) People want to feel like their opinions matter.
2) People want exceptional output for little cost to them.
3) People want to get caught up in a fantasy that takes them away from life stresses, not adds more stress.
4) People want to meet their social needs, which vary widely.
I've run full course with gaming and decided I would rather be on the production end. But the steep uphill climb of learning is discouraging. I can easily waste a year of my life trying various software, most becoming obsolete after I've finally gotten comfortable using it. So this thread is dedicated to game making software that will not be outdated in the future, has a growing active community, help videos on YouTube, and is available to the poor working class / college student / family - mom dad preteen+.
Feel free to add to this thread software, computer builds / parts, preferred programming language and favorite IDE's, or just your thoughts about the development side of gaming.
I'm starting by listing my favorite 3d art program:
BLENDER.

What i did and recommend now is starting with the free UDK "Unreal Development Kit".It is a lot harder to learn than when i started back in unreal 1.0 and 2.0 but it is a great engine, lots of tools great for importing and exporting etc etc.
None the less nothing is simple in game design,it takes way too much effort, you have to be really dedicated, like not having a real job or life to commit to it and you need help.
Everyone starts out slow, either working for someone else or possible collaborating on ideas with a few people,it takes a lot of years of hard work.In that sense i guess myself and everyone should respect game development a lot more, but not me lol.I figure if your going to commit to this business you better do it right or just fail and waste all your time.,
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I'm still to new to be considered a viable opinion but if forced to answer I'm favoring Java. I started in C++ and even though I found the language a lot easier than the ney sayer's boohiss I did not find an IDE compatible with my old Windows Vista OS.
So it's Java for me now and Eclipse IDE seriously rocks. How can you beat being shown the exact line your error is on?

He teaches many program languages so just Youtube search thenewboston and the language you're wanting to learn. I'll link the first Java tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl-zzrqQoSE&list=PLFE2CE09D83EE3E28.
Both have scripting though. (scripting is not programming entirely)
Unreal has a visual graph scripting editor that lets you make scripts without any code.
However, if you do not know how to make games yet then nothing will help you make an MMO.
It's like saying that you can't even cook in the microwave but now you want to compete on a top chef tv show.

Scratch Online https://scratch.mit.edu/ has great programming concepts for beginners and takes up no space on PC.
For game development, cutscenes, and art creation, these are top picks:
If you're also looking for a web app development company, consider exploring firms that specialize in your preferred technologies and can help bring your game or creative vision to the web.
