You can jump in and play it (however buggy) so no, it is not vaporware.
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD
It could be once the buying ships stops. Can't really compare it to EQN, because it is only one game, where SC is a combination of 3 games also not an MMO. Clearly SC is going to need at least another 150m on top of what they already recieved and that is only if the money goes straight to development. IMHO!
The game has been considerably long time in developement almost the same as EQN. Has the lack of updates qualify this game as vaporware??
The game has not been a long time in development. It started development around 2011.
Guild Wars 2 was about 5 years World of Warcraft was 4 or 5 years Lord of the Rings Online took longer than 5 years but it was essentially take up by Turbine from Sierra
it seems it takes a minimum of 3+ years to work on an mmo.
Whether it releases in a "good" state is another thing entirely.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
As games go their development time table is within acceptable standards, so far. Working on several game modules at the same time is a bit odd for a kick starter. Most work on and put out one, then work on adding another as an expansion after the first has launched and been stabilized.

If you are right and the game releases in an awesome state, all these people will be shown they were wrong.
No they won't. Our knowledge can't ever be 100% accurate, and there are times when for the sake of practicality we should treat less than 100% accurate knowledge as facts.
I think EQNext has passed the threshold where those who treat it as vaporware act correctly because their belief is the only one that can be reasonably used as basis for further decisions and actions.
Has the lack of updates qualify this game as vaporware??
No... Not in any way shape or form.
A PR cluster-f yes.... Potentially delayed on the level of Duke Nukem Forever... Maybe.
Vaporware.... Nope... You can actually play the game and it would be insane to put in as much effort in to the ship models if the entire idea was to secure funding and then jettison the project.
Because seriously.. take a peek at some of the ship walkthroughs. The level of detail in the ships are insane.
Just had to check it wasn't April 1st, kind of ironic that someone would accuse Star Citizen of being Vapourware in the EQN section, all things considered
Ok, so the game has playable mode. Arena commander. But seriously took 100 million to make that i would be kinda gypped.
Noone invests in this Franchise, and ive been playing for 16 years wating for the next big thing. Seriously, no game has given me the feeling of back in 1999 in norrath. WoW, Gw2 not even close..

Your point is flawed. It did not take 100 million to make Arena Commander. Hangars, the social hub and Areana Commander were all the general backer pool had experienced pre alpha 2.0 is not the same as saying that is all that had been created with the funds. For your statement to stand, they would have had to take the money and only ever release Arena Commander. As this work in progress continues to release modules your statement is false.
Also the game isn't an MMORPG so don't hang your hopes of it being one on it.

Oh I see you are trolling SC by feigning ignorance of the definition of the word.
