Nice thought. But, from my perspective, I do not play phone apps, I do not play MOBAs, it has been years since I last tried a single player RPG, there are no new grand strategy games etc. So while I want "entertainment I like" what I like is MMORPGs with tab-targeting and a high fantasy theme and they are mighty thin on the ground.
Devs cannot please everyone. There are plenty of those who like phone apps (you should try the Room 1, 2 & 3, and Lara Croft Go ... great puzzle games), MOBAs (i don't .. but others do), and single player RPGs.
And who said there is no new grand strategy game? How about Xcom 2?
If your preference is very narrow, and almost nothing entertains you, you cannot expect devs to cater just to you. It is a free world.
They won't be making another mmorpg which is what the fan's wanted. Instead, they will make nothing to suck more money off of fans currently. Which is what the fan's agree to. Brainwashed fools.
I'd rather see Blizzard do the game that dominates the next Trend (whatever that is at the time they do it). That's Blizzard's historical pattern, anyway.
The next Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft, WoW... ::shrug::
If Blizzard can look around, the way we do, and see the mmorpg genre dying off... "Time to shift focus again, coder boys. You were pretty bored anyway, right?"

There is some good buzz about overwatch .. may be they are dominating online shooters next.

Says who? You do not speak for all blizz fans. I am a big blizz fans and i would much rather see Blizz doing a new type of online game than a MMORPG.
Because you cheer for them as a sports team. Which is insanity. How long are you going to spend killing orcs or pandas or whatever and say we need another game? I love EQ but im bored with it and wants EQNext to come out. I don't care if my company loses prestige it's all about the games man.

wait what?
I don't kill orcs or pandas (not playing wow or games like that anymore ... i played it, i got over it, now it is boring).
That is why i would like Blizz to do new types of games. Overwatch is in the right direction. May be they can come up with something different again after that (say a PvE shooter ... or stealth game)?

I don't think they will make another MMO as long as Wow still is raking in the top dough. But once Wow start to drop down to 2 millions or less I think they will start for real on a sequel, Blizz do love sequels after all and they need a cashcow.
Wow dropping that many subs can take years or happen 6 weeks after Legion if it sucks so I wont guess when that happens but it will happen sooner or later. A sequel will probably take another 5 years once they really start on it.
There is still too much money in the genre for Blizzard to give up on it.

I agree with this pretty much. I doubt they will risk any WoW disruption until it really starts to drop. I'm actually hopeful that Blizzard does come out with a new MMO. Even though I haven't played WoW for years they seem to be the only company left that has the resources and MMO sense to *maybe* make a new MMO that doesn't suck. I just hope they aren't lured over to the dark side and go down the path of F2P garbage.
I never was a Diablo player but I would think that setting could make for a pretty cool MMO world. It would also be nice to see them do something a bit more gritty and dark than WoW.

The Diablo world would be needing a lot more lore to work though, that lost vikings IP they have would probably be easier and have a bit of grit as well.
But the most likely is that they go for Warcraft a few hundered years after Wow.
Now that their outside of the box MMO didnt work out and was turned into Overwatch I wouldnt be surprised if they leaned on one of their other popular IPs for an MMORPG like Starcraft or Diablo.
Would be interesting to see how all the crazy gear from Diablo would work in an MMORPG settting.

Not as much as in MOBAs, and other types of online games, which Blizz is going after now.
Why would people obsess with Blizz making MMORPGs? They just made one, amongst their many other successful games. They also make the most successful ARPG, and RTS.
Blizz is clearly not a MMORPG only company, and it is clear that they are now diversifying into other online games like CCG, MOBA and shooters.
I picked Diablo as of the 3 choices I think it makes the most sense.
WoW2, while it could initially sell good would be a huge gamble as it would most likely disappoint current WoW fans and if released anytime within 5 years of WoW closing could lose out on just being to much WoW.
Starcraft 2, I have played Starcraft and just don't think it would make a good mmo, if they could do it well then it could be great but the chances are it wouldn't happen.
Diablo, this game (and lore) just lends itself to an mmo. I would differently get it!

That's true that the Diablo world would need a lot of work to bring it into the MMO genre but that isn't necessarily a negative. They have existing Diablo lore as a known and successful foundation and then could just fill in the gaps and add depth to flesh it out and make it fit an MMO environment.
WoW 2 wouldn't be the worst idea (and especially if they went with a bit darker, grittier version of it) but I think the risk is that people may just be sick of WoW.

I think they'll want to milk WoW for every last dollar they can, which likely means they'll go with the MMO that conflicts with WoW the least. So I can't see them making a literal WoW 2, I suppose it's possible to make a very dark Diablo MMO but I still imagine they'll want something as far as possible for WoW to cannibalize as few subscribers as possible which to me means Starcraft or a completely new non-fantasy setting.
