It's worth it. Though if you really do intend on getting into it and going far you'll probably spend a little on the cash store. At the very least I would recommend a couple of pets to add XP and make looting easier. The 3 servers are coming together as a single "New World" on the 30th. They awakenings are pretty damned cool for the classes. And it's pretty damned in-depth for life skills (crafting, horse training and breeding, farming, etc.)
