I love Star Trek Online because I always have something to do in the game, be it space or ground five man instances, larger raid type encounters (crystalline entity), or working on building rep up to get cool looking gear for my ship. PvP is challenging too. I love being able to live out my own dream of captaining my own ship.
The game is easily digestible in bite size chunks, meaning, even if I only have a short amount of time, there is still something I Can achieve to progress my character. I don't have to sit and play for for hours to make any tangible progress.
Even though Star Trek Online is a bit quirky, the graphics are a mixed batch, there's a certain charm to it. I guess you just have to be a Star Trek fan, but you can't help but not love the game. I love the space combat! Even the ground combat with how kludgy it feels you can't help but like. I've just recently come back to playing STO and it's just fun being in the Star Trek universe.
The thing I love the most about Star Trek Online is the space battles. The developers were able to get just the right balance of RPG and arcade shooter action.
I like Star Trek Online because its a breeze of fresh air in a see of cookie cutter fantasy mmos. The mix of Ground Battles and Space Battles spice up the gameplay with some variety you dont find in most other MMOs. If you are a Trekkie its very nice to see all those references to past Star Trek Episode woven into the Story to flesh them some more out. My biggest bonus point is that the game isnt outright pay 2 win instead its more like pay 2 not to grind which makes the game pretty fair between people spending cash and people playing it free.
I like STO due to its casual nature. I can jump in, play a mission or two and then turn off my computer and play with my kids. Too many games today require long time commitments or cash in order to be competitive. I also enjoy the ability to pick exactly what I want to do. If I am in the mood for a space mission, I pick one. If I an in the mood to do some ground assaults, I pick up one of those missions. I also enjoy the artwork.
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD
Still playing STO , and as i have said in previous posts , STO has the deepest system in MMOs next to AO and AC , so much under the hood and endless tweaking to do for your ship and crew in space and on the ground is what makes it so interesting and always keeps me playing.. ..
And yea that ship would be a perfect fit for me :)
I love Star Trek because it's a view into the universe of possibility, where Humanity actually grows up and takes responsibility for their actions, both to each other and to the worlds around them. A very nice dream and get away from the toxic world we live in currently.
There is a lot to do. And I mean A LOT!
The open-endedness of the game and the size of the it allows for great exploration and experimentation... it captures the perfect feel of Star Trek.
The fact is you can play a captain in an immersive universe. You can do ground missions to get your traditional MMORPG fill or do space battles like the Starfleet Command games. Also you have opportunity to work with iconic characters voiced by their original actors.
I played since the release but stopped playing 2 years ago with the mindless grind and nothing to do since I played all storyline missions, this new ship might give me a reason to log in.
ive always been a big fan of the star trek ip i rember watching with my dad when i was a kid so when i got a chance to played the online game just could not wait preorder it years a go and played with some close mates on and off for the last few year.i rember the sad day that the grate late Leonard Nimoy passed and all the STO players headed to vulcan to pay our respects was a sad day but to be around players who loved him as much as i ment the world to me LLAP
Star Trek is my childhood, loved the tv series, Star Trek Online lets me experience being a captain of my own ship and recent updates even let me see my favorite characters again, that's why I really like STO. :D
