Once you start charging extra for things like reserving names it behoves you to fully inform the customer that there will be prior claims to what he is paying for. This is not about the competition for names between like customers who all pay for the same privilege to reserve but between the person paying for that privilege and an employee of the company. They should have put the exception in print when you buy the founder pack that GMs get to reserve before they do.
I wanted a reserve a seat on this flight and I realized some chick had a seat reserved before me just because she wasa flight attendent. And she had more leg room. Pffft!
I'm sure if you write an article saying a gaming company has taken the "phalange" out of the servers there will be people here complaining about it.
Gaming Rocks next gen. community for last gen. gamers launching soon.
TBH staff members get first pick on names no mater what game. They tend to try and keep the same name on every game they work for to avoid a mix up or scammers using their names. I wanted the name lilly but it was taken, i dont care to be honest i just used a different name.

Gotta be the worse part of all this pre-buying games founder bullshit, the way it turns people into a bunch of whiny entitled children. You paid to found a free game that was released years ago? Your names should automatically be set to "Sucker1", "Sucker2", etc...
Who cares? They work for the company so I don't see why they shouldn't have minor bonuses. Besides, it's not like they're reserving 2000 names. Don't worry, you'll still be able to create a character named "69xXxSephirothxXx69"
Well I don't have a problem with GM's reserving a name they were already using like for live streams and such, but to say they reserved popular names so that people would not sell them is just shit stupid. Who the hell comes up with such a stupid PR answer like that? As usual the lie is worse than the original offense. All they had to say was, yeah we let our GM's pick names first so deal with it. They are trying too hard to come up with something that sounds good instead of just telling people the truth.
Preface: I am a giant cynic. It's probably just a Black Desert astroturfer dropping a story about a normal practice. Then inciting the "Torchfork" crowd that this is a big deal to distract from the actual Blade & Soul game.
I don't think people care about the names themselves, but GM who hand out perks to themselves probably shouldn't be GM to begin with.
Even if the company allows them to do so?
Anyway toward the overall topic... my word... we're making a deal about these kinds of things now?
People are actually starting posts with "the problem is"...? There is no problem, it was 7 names for pete's sake. Bad luck for those who wanted them, other than that? come on...

So employees should not get perks? This thread is a joke.
Inside the game, I'd say no. It's a fundamentally bad idea to give GM in-game perks, it leads to abuse.
who's to say said person did not win an internal contest? it is not like they allowed EVERY staff member to reserve 7 names. i use to work for NCsoft back in their better days (GW original) And they allowed us to claim 3 names prior to launch.

I wonder if people know that some names aren't allowed. It isn't that its taken but its a copyrighted name so they cannot allow players to use it. Like Conan or Darth Vader
I think the issue here is paying customers that specifically were SOLD name reservation were trumped by employees...name reservation "perks" are cool for employees, but when you SELL name reservation that is bad business practice. If they want to give employees name reservation priority, DON'T SELL IT.

Staff making chars and playing a game leads to abuse? Trust me, you want developers playing the games they make. You want them playing with the gamers. So what if a few names are taken.
The problem is that people PAID for name reservations, letting a GM have 7 for free? That isn't acceptable. If paid name reservations weren't advertised as a thing, it wouldn't be a big deal but it was.
Then again it is NCsoft, it only has one of the most disgustingly corrupt GM and customer service teams in the business. Though it has gotten quite a bit better since its older days.
he didnt get 7, it looks like he got 1 on each server all being the same. it is still not an issue for most people.
I am constantly amazed about the smallest BS that people complain about. Really? This is your point of contention? I really think we are raising a generation of entitled minded crybabies.

popular names should be blocked as default , and any1 with similar name forced to change name period
