Made a character (nice looking one as well), logged on, got in queue for 15 minutes. So far nothing wrong with a new game... But when I was in-game the (expected) RMT spam was immense. Nothing to see what others wrote with the at least 4 spanning every half second or so
And since this is a NCWest hosted server, I don't even expect GMs to take any action against it (too many bad experiences with them in the past).

This is not to say that I think NC Soft shouldn't be responsible for their chat channels but it really took seconds for me to fix.

I still need to wait 3 hours before my downloading of the 215mb installer is finished :P
NO i aint on dailup 28k8 it just takes so long with my slow 120Mbit line.
Also, NCWest is responsible for the chat channels - they are the developer & publisher. Why not make it like L2 where you need a minimum level to chat in certain channels (like region with minimum 10 or so)
At launch, the demand for RMT is highest and their profits are greatest. That's why they spam 24/7 in any way they can think of. The fact that they're also competing with each other makes the activity even more intense.
It will all settle down a month or two from now, once the majority of "customers" have left the game.
I encountered a whole 5 spammers, took 10 clicks to block all of them and I was done.
I see plenty of gold spam in WoW trade and whispers in FFXIV. Even subscription games don't have a solution to the problem yet so if you use the standard of encountering a few gold spammers to uninstall a game you should just quite the genre entirely now because no game ever is going to meet that.
Welcome to MMORPGs where developers clearly don't learn from mistakes and history, but this is clearly OK and players need to get over it FFS. =\
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Bottom line, if you like to play MMOs you will have to learn to deal with this until the developers get a solution, otherwise as was said by reeereee, " just quite the genre entirely now because no game ever is going to meet that."

These gold sellers are vultures man, they'll do anything to make a buck. As long as people are buying, they're going to be selling. Just click ignore and move on with your life, raging crybaby posts aren't going to solve a damn thing.
50 First Dates, MMORPG Edition.

worked for me
(and private messages ofc)
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

You seem to have an idea how to fix the problem so care to share the knowledge with us?
That still doesn't solve the problem, only puts a bandaid on it. They will figure out soon enough how much they are allowed to say and just limit the messages accordingly and have multiple accounts going to still fill the chat channels on a rotating frequency.
Please pay attention I have something that will help. The starting area is the only place that has the gold sellers. They are being constantly banned by gm's. Since anyone can just make a free account and create a character well you know. Is there better ways to deal with it? Certainly, but is it horrible? Not really it takes about 10 seconds to fix it.
