RMT ...as expected...

ReizlaReizla Member RarePosts: 4,092
Made a character (nice looking one as well), logged on, got in queue for 15 minutes. So far nothing wrong with a new game... But when I was in-game the (expected) RMT spam was immense. Nothing to see what others wrote with the at least 4 spanning every half second or so :( And since this is a NCWest hosted server, I don't even expect GMs to take any action against it (too many bad experiences with them in the past).

All I did was block them and that solved the problem.

This is not to say that I think NC Soft shouldn't be responsible for their chat channels but it really took seconds for me to fix.

Blocked them as well, but if RMT is going rampage like this at start, the botting you'll encounter is immense. Not to mention, every other city/village has enough RMT yellers to fill the blocklist quickly and they'll change on daily (hourly?) basis as well. I've seen a couple of these RMT yellers on the NCWest L2 server as well ant there they change character to yell by the hour.

Also, NCWest is responsible for the chat channels - they are the developer & publisher. Why not make it like L2 where you need a minimum level to chat in certain channels (like region with minimum 10 or so)

Yup, this is "standard launch fare" in all MMO's now.

At launch, the demand for RMT is highest and their profits are greatest. That's why they spam 24/7 in any way they can think of. The fact that they're also competing with each other makes the activity even more intense.

It will all settle down a month or two from now, once the majority of "customers" have left the game.

That's clearly impossible... cash shops stop gold sellers..that's what the F2P cheerleaders say...and they're never wrong.

    Uninstalled a f2p game because of spammers in the lauch day -> R O F L

I can't be bothered blocking individuals, they just relog and make a new char after 10 minutes anyway. I just turned off the channels they were spamming. I'm not a big fan of global channels anyway so no big loss.

So basically you're going to play no new game ever now?

I encountered a whole 5 spammers, took 10 clicks to block all of them and I was done.

I see plenty of gold spam in WoW trade and whispers in FFXIV.  Even subscription games don't have a solution to the problem yet so if you use the standard of encountering a few gold spammers to uninstall a game you should just quite the genre entirely now because no game ever is going to meet that.

Yeah same story every time a new game launches, people think it's cool to tell us how they "uninstalled that bad boy sooo hard" Gold sellers are here to stay, in every game. I've only ignored a few so far as well, not a big deal at all.

NCsoft has been through this enough times that it shouldn't be rampant. Shout out to you bend overs who think people should just accept it too. It's not about trying to erradicate gold sellers, it's about NCSoft being around since before Aion and not even doing things to try and curtail the issue of SPAM harrassment from launch. How many f#%king "oh we didn't know, but we'll fix it a year from now" does a company get?

Welcome to MMORPGs where developers clearly don't learn from mistakes and history, but this is clearly OK and players need to get over it FFS. =\

Not saying it is accepted but others are saying ways to block it for now so you don't have to see it all of the time.  Yes NCSoft needs to do something about it along with the developers of all other games.  For whatever reason some games do a better job then others.

Bottom line, if you like to play MMOs you will have to learn to deal with this until the developers get a solution, otherwise as was said by reeereee, " just quite the genre entirely now because no game ever is going to meet that."

It's a new release, what did you expect? It happens in all MMOs for at least the first month.

So what are they supposed to do exactly? They put in the 6 digit code thing to stop bots from logging in, and I'm sure they're banning the accounts. Which makes no difference in a free game. It's not about trying to eradicate gold sellers, but about NCSoft "not even doing things"? lol I hope you realize how stupid that sounds.

These gold sellers are vultures man, they'll do anything to make a buck. As long as people are buying, they're going to be selling. Just click ignore and move on with your life, raging crybaby posts aren't going to solve a damn thing.

^ WTF does that have to do with AAA developers and publishers repeating the same mistakes over and over again?

One of the first things I do in every game is hide the general/local chat.  I don't mind the gold spammers, they just repeat one line over and over.  I feel my IQ dropping every time I read a general chat, and I need to keep whats left!
  • NegativeJoeNegativeJoe Member UncommonPosts: 213
I wouldn't mind the gold spammers so much if there weren't 1000's of them on every server causing huge queues.

only leave faction chat up til you get a guild.  then only use LFG, and guild.

    worked for me :)

First off ditch GameGuard - that's been causing more problems to legit players than to bots (talking from L2 experienec at NCWest). And as I've said already above, a minimum level to use certain chat channels AND a timer on how much lines you're allowed to say in a certain amount of time or get chatban (works pretty well in L2 as well)...
  • simsalabim77simsalabim77 Member RarePosts: 1,607
Block them and move on. Also, don't stay in All chat, and instead go to Clan chat.

That still doesn't solve the problem, only puts a bandaid on it. They will figure out soon enough how much they are allowed to say and just limit the messages accordingly and have multiple accounts going to still fill the chat channels on a rotating frequency.

Minimum level is useless since you are now punishing new players as well. Unless you are talking a very low level in which case your measure is ineffective anyway

Please pay attention I have something that will help.  The starting area is the only place that has the gold sellers.  They are being constantly banned by gm's.  Since anyone can just make a free account and create a character well you know.  Is there better ways to deal with it?  Certainly, but is it horrible?  Not really it takes about 10 seconds to fix it.

Are you onto something or just on something?
  • donger56donger56 Member RarePosts: 443
This is pretty typical F2P trash. Bots were going like crazy even during the head start. I tried to log in and was number 1054 in que. I'm not paying for premium just so I can bypass the spam bots. This is why F2P must die in a fire. I'd rather pay a box free and have less of this nonsense to deal with.
