Funcom has announced Conan Exiles, a multiplayer survival game based on the Conan IP. The game is considered a multiplayer title that will be available on both private and public servers and will also feature a robust single player experience as well.

Still, Funcom does "do" the look and feel of the Conan Universe very well.

I tried twice in the last few months to go back to aoc but i couldn't get past the starter isle both times.I guess i could try and figure out my old account and see if i enjoy it from there but i doubt it because almost always i enjoy a fresh start over continuation.Last i remember i think i was in some dungeon but dungeons are laid out so badly you need a a group of even 3 players because mobs are just spammed all over the place no room to breathe.With so few players hardly a good option to play the game.
So if i was running the show ,what i would do is add in mercenaries to form your party.Not just add them in but have players search for them or have to do some favor/quest to get their attention.
Personally i just wish games were laid out in a realistic fashion,why are mobs just littered everywhere for no reason?Why are they even there don't they eat or survive,example where are the ECO systems in these rpg's ?

Hopefully they give you some control over the server's ruleset - so you could do a public server with factional PvP instead of FFA, that kind of thing.
I am saying for long time now. The survival games are the next gen MMOs we have been waiting for so long.
Awww someone is still butthurt I called out Division for not being the second coming greatest game of all time!
At first, I'm with Bill in the PvE aspect. Average survival games are craps mostly because of the boring, 24/7 kill-a-thon, which pushes every other part of the gameplay behind. H1Z1 tried a PvE mode, but... not a big success. However, and I praised this setting already when Garriot said with SotA, this single + private servers + public servers layout could work.
(Actually FC was the first I think, when they planned the single server tech for AoC, years before SotA. They wanted dynamic phasing, and -if you want- only putting players on the same shard with you who are on your friends list. Kinda like a private server, or SotA's friends-only setting)
Gathering, crafting, building - if they implement it from the existing AoC mechanics, that's cool, AoC has a decent one. Or, imagine if they put in there the upgraded crafting, which is in works since years (ok, just kidding, crafting revamp is just a myth anyways)
Concept arts looking great, based on Khopshef mostly, flavoured with some Kheshatta and TSW's Egypt. I guess The Park was a good warmup project for working with the engine on existing objects.
Combat, whatevs ( (c)HL). AoC's combo system is good, but if they go with a new one, I still don't really care, I just want to gather and build
Also, no such thing as "Conan universe", Hyboria is massive on its own, and even Howard had some slight connections to his other works, which resulted several books after his death, combining the worlds. So it's a huge Howard universe now.
Also, re-read the books... neither his young years, nor when he's already on the throne, are "ultimate male power trip fantasy"
And far from pvp as well, some barely even has a combat scene...

100% I get the same feeling of atmosphere and community from Reign of Kings and Ark servers that I've been missing for the last decade or so in MMO's.
