FFXI, a game with mass amounts of endgame content that forced you to group with others to level.
No, BD has almost no endgame content, what it has is awful, it's main content is PVP and leveling is all solo. The leveling is horrible, severe lack of monsters so you have to fight over spawns with others.
It does have housing, crafting, fishing etc though, if you want that you might as well try Archeage though. To me it's just a single player game with other people around. I'd struggle to even call it an mmorpg.

OH no, you can't make me play Archeage again, you can't THREATEN me like that, don't you dare!!!!
DAoC probably the most fun I've had in a PVP focused mmorpg (Andred, Mordred, Guin). Never played FFXI.
BDO KR/NA/EU is run by Daum which doesn't run RU version so factor that into things when people talk about the different versions as RU gets a lot of negative feedback is seems.
BDO is very grinding, but the combat is the best I've experienced in an mmo and the very large world and variety of mobs makes it go by rather painlessly.
Still have to see how NA/EU shape up as they are making changes that will result in a different end game experience.
There is PVE/PVP along with a lot of non-combat features to keep many types busy for a good time.
It isn't a direct copy of WoW or DAoC or AA or insert whatever and seems many go to the extreme of BDO lacking XYZ because of this. What it lacks it makes up for in many ways and has to be looked at for the whole.
It can appeal to anyone, but like all games, they are subjective as we all find different things entertaining and worth wasting I time doing.

Thanks. Guin was my server, was a Mid, what a great community that server had.
Interesting. I knew it wasn t like those games, just hoping it had some systems similar. My wife and I actually like grindy games, so it might fit well. Hell if you played DAOC or FFXI back in the day, you ll know what grind is.
For someone who loves those 2 games, and more open worlds in general, can Black Desert appeal to me?
I would personally not listen to anyone giving you advice on any game at this site. Instead go to twitch and find a few BDO english streamers and ask questions there.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
$30 isn't much to drop on a game... just give it a whirl and decide for YOURSELF if you like it or not.
Start by not trying to turn it into some other game you once enjoyed and play it for what it is.
Refrain from trying to make correlations between game X and game Y.
People really do need to stop overanalyzing these games and just play them... you know what fun is and what fun isn't. You let other people decide for you, you're in for a disappointment 100% of the time.
