Considering 80% of the MMO player base are on WoW / LoL / DOTA, I fail to see the point in 4K in that department? And I won't even talk about the millions playing more on their smartphones than on a TV / PC. Also who cares about graphics? Not even 0.001% of gamers care about graphics, the numbers DOTA, LoL, WoW and mobile games are putting up is pretty overwhelming, and let's face it, they won't be winning any fashion contest, but they get the job done with the game play, and at the end of the day, whether you like or not, that's all the Pubs / Devs cares about. You want graphics? Go watch Star Wars : Clone Wars, leave the "high end" graphics garbage out of the MMO world.

Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
why is this suprise 4k is for the rich or those who get free stuff from "companys", if we all were rich evry one woudl be playing 4k but 4k isnt for who whants is for who can...
To be fair too, I don't think 4k has been out long enough to survive the next round on monitor refreshes either. I bought my current pair of monitors 2 years ago, and I certainly hope they'll last me another 5. Maybe by then we'll have 8k? Who knows!
I think this'll just take time to permeate the market for those that it interests.
I know that if/when I'm in a position to buy a TV, I'll try and find a 4k TV. But right now, mine's more than fine for my needs.
If by gamers you mean "people who completed the Steam survey" then yes.
It would be interesting to see what the numbers are for all gamers tho
It will shock you how accurate something like a steam survey is when representing the world population playerbase. Ever watched the elections for US president? They pull in the votes from a few towns and surprisingly enough once all the votes from the entire state have been counted the numbers are almost exactly the same as those first few towns.

They don't poll from a "few towns" nice try though.

Surely its not surprising that so few are playing in 4K?
4K is damn expensive. Not only do you need to splash out on the monitor / tv, you also need a good graphics card which can cost a lot. Its just not really worth it at the moment for the majority of people.

Not 1 in 1000 play 2K like me? (2560x1440 in my case).
I don't really see the point of higher resolutions unless you have more then 1 screen (like Quizz said) or a gigantic screen. I don't have room for either at the moment.
My 27" 2K screen do make games look very beutiful while giving me a lot of space to look around though, I recommend it. I can see the difference between 1080P and 2K easily when I play, but it is really hard between 2K and 4K so I don't think it is worth the pricetag.
Anyways, all of us just need to find the rezz that works best for us (within the limits of budget and space).
I don't even use steam. Keep your misplaced attacks to yourself so I don't need to flag you, this thread isn't about me. If you don't like the thread, don't post in it.
HA!
right here
There are 125 million 'active' steam users and I have told people many times that there are people out there who are PC gamers who do not have a Steam account so the number of PC gamers is actually higher.
there it is, evidence.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Why does this matter? Put another way, why ask this question?
She's trying to find justifications for her choice not to play in 4K. Read her post history, you'll understand. One the OP decided some new hardware is "crap", it becomes a fact she needs to try to justify by repeatedly posting some irrelevant numbers and articles.
EDIT: yeah, and as Quiz said, she quite conveniently ignores the multi-screen configs, where most of the high res gaming happens.
Not ignored purposely cut it out...it's the OPs motto cut out all info that doesn't suit her agenda.

I don't go around investigating peoples post history or anything but the numbers aren't irrelevant at all.
4K is still very young and the video cards struggle to keep up with the resolution.
It's valuable information.

That might be a bit too much information, Bill.
