It looks great and has potential.

I have a nice rig, but I couldn't get the gunplay to feel smooth or fluid. This is a core issue as far as I'm concerned. It wasn't related to performance I found, as I turned everything down and the controls still felt sluggish and imprecise.

I liked the look and feel of the UI - and it seems well thought out.

Based on what I saw, loot looks a bit like pre-2.0 D3 loot = dull and exclusively about a few stat boosts.

Skills look undercooked and don't do much to inspire my confidence in the longevity of the game.

It follows this strange new trend where huge budget AAA titles get released with the content of small indie games. I mean, I know marketing is expensive but it can't be THAT expensive to hire more level designers to get creative with mission design. There has to be a way around repetitive grindy content. Look at how Fallout 4 manages to put variety in the various locations.

I love the concept of the Dark Zone - and if they manage to inject meaningful things to do in this place as the game grows, it could be its saving grace.

Have to say I really, really like the aesthetic. I'm so sick and tired of stylized visuals - and it's nice to see something that actually looks real.

Anyway, only based on a few hours. I'm struggling with whether or not I should get this at launch. My brain tells me no - but I'm still tempted.

I disagree with your d3 loot comparison plus this was only a beta and most of the game wasn't available.

But for the loot and stats,  mine increased substantially when I looted my Blue Shotgun and put the mods on.

There are also different ways to build your agent.  In my group two of us focused on increasing DPS, another one focused on health as he will be our lead guy heading in first (tank) and the last one focused on skill as he is our healer type.  I don't see any similarities to D3 except they both have loot..just my opinion though.

On a side note this game shines when you group up.  Whenever I jumped on solo this weekend I just run around looking for buildings and underground areas to explore...great way to get cosmetic items.

I like this post apocalyptic vibe that you get when you play this game. Empty streets, abandon Vehicles, destroyed buildings on fire. Gangs rampaging threw the city, and you are the hero that tries to bring order in to this chaos.

Even if it was labelled as a Single player game, I would still have bought it. I really liked the story, and I want to see where it goes.

Another thing that I really liked, is to have your own base of operation. It's like housing in MMO's, you get it from the start with the ability to upgrade it further. That's fun.

The last thing is the realism. I really felt like i was walking in the city.

That's something I hadn't really thought about. I don't miss the instanced "neighborhoods" of classic mmoprgs at all. :)

Yeah, but they might as well be instanced.  Since no one else can enter your base.. unless you are grouped of course.  I think that's a mistake to not allow you to play with randoms out in the PvE world.  I understand they want to keep that isolated feel of the world intact, but having a random player cap of 6-8 wouldn't do much to hurt that.  Just give us something.  We have voip, but it's useless in half of the game.

That fact alone really has me nervous.  I feel like people are going to get bored of this game fast.  I don't think it has the balls to survive as a single player title.  I also don't think the combat is going to be good enough to survive as a PvP title.

I pre-ordered, and I will play.. But I'm really concerned about the longevity of this game.

This game isn't RPG enough for me, it's also a personal preference but I don't enjoy hyper-realistic games.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

Its not a single player game, its a multiplayer RPG.  I played both the closed and open beta and very rarely played alone and when I did that was my time to explore.  I wouldnt want to have to fight off 6-8 others for loot in the building and underworld.  I want it to feel isolated when im playing solo.  But the game isnt made for solo its made for you to group, if you want to play with others group up with strangers or get some friends its the best way to play.

I dont think this is a game for you...everyone I know who has pre-ordered doesnt have your 'concerns'.

No problem. Thing is, there are 6.023x10^23 rpgs with a fantasy setting out there. No surprise that when one with speculative but realistic setting comes out, people respond. It's an underserved market.
