MMORPG with sense of character progression and becoming powerful as you advance through content

So i think I figured out what frustrates me most about MMORPGs these days.  The 2 MMORPG to ever real hook me were FFXI and WoW.  When I started off my character(s) hit like a wet noodle, my survivability stunk, i was slow as molasses,and had the utility of a snowblower. Today i come i come in guns blazing, my muscles bigger than your daddies head, and I feel like a Swiss army knife ...LVL 1...I wonder that i get level 2?

I know this thread is probably # 1,261,014 stating this same thing sorry!  So then why is the only game that's supposedly catering to this is Pantheon?
