WOW, you would have thought they would have done that at the beginning instead of selling so many ships. I guess they want money more than they want to make a game.

Guys i don't know how to say this to you but there are forum posts from 2012 about this game and it's still in development?

we're quickly entering the 9th year of development.

    it's not happening is it?

Well its complicated. According to two guys here, there's already enough content in the extremely buggy alpha (that can handle like 20 players at max) to keep 'em busy 24/7 for the last 5 years or so. I think they are trying to map every inch of the auto-generated rocks on 2 moons or taking pictures of a city thats textures 90% of the time. It cannot be those 20 fetch quests. This doesnt explain how are they able to defend the game against litterally every negative comment made on this forums - my guess is that their idol Chris Roberts developed a functioning time-turner, that can be yours only for a cheap non-P2W price of 3999$ as part of all the amazing technological advances this game has in comparison to others. We dont know what these are, but apparently, there are tons of these. You know, things like dynamic lightning and non-functional flight model.
The development time is a non-issue because they have a roadmap of a roadmap that's going to explain everything.

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

They removed a planet earlier this month, because they realised a single server can't run the whole universe. SC has officially got too much content, you heard it here first folks.

Now you ask: "So if it was always gonna be removed why did they even put it there in the first place?

Because it was used as the first test for the procedural and seamless planetary landings demo shown back in 2016.
And since it was made so long ago it's landing area was outdated and very unoptimized. So much that the landing area Levski was often called Lagsky by the community. It's removal doesn't actually remove any gameplay, just a different visual setting as anything that you could only do in Levski was transferred to other locations.

But the main reason they did that was indeed to free up performance to accommodate the new dynamic gameplay event with capital ships added in the latest patch:
But also to free up space for Crusader gas giant  and complete the Stanton System.

CIG is effectively trading visuals for gameplay experience and still some find ways to complain lol

Second. There was never a plan to have a single server run the whole universe nor was this planet supposed to be in the current system in the first place. The end goal is to have the universe split in several areas which is handled dynamically by several servers meshed and acting as one that adjusts to player stress on the fly.

One server can currently handle everything in the universe for optimization purposes while they add features and gather data on server load which they analyse and optimize to scale that up to the final global network solution and accommodate more players and content in one single shared online universe.

The long awaited cloud tech that is coming online for the gas giant landing zone Orison is showing its first teases

the volumetric clouds on the scale this gas giant + the floating landing zone within its atmospheric area is set to achieve of the most impressive visuals yet on the game I'd say

They are pretty cool, but visuals are not game play so still waiting.

There stuff I do on MP sessions together, now a big one for me is PWEEETTTYY stuff, just roaming around seeing the view is something I enjoy in MMOs, same I liked on GW2 haha

Now cloud city releases I'm already scheduling having my coffee looking at sexy volumetric clouds

    2) Refueling Gameplay: https://pastebin.com/h8hPEnzx

    3) Hacking gameplay: https://pastebin.com/CrdvqN8x

the current state of crusader on the closed testing "Current cloud tech is still in active development and not yet final. There's ongoing work on SDF occlusion which should help alleviate the graphical artifacting (visual dots in the clouds). Additionally, we are working towards having local VFX for the clouds (similar to the gas clouds around rest stops) which will make a big difference in overall quality."

Things of beauty. also damn he really puts jawdropping on the soundtrack for it holy kek

Better than I thought for cloud tech's's debut.

But end of the day this is why SC is SC, not afraid of  doing it the hard way to achieve stuff like this. always imagined how would the gas giant be pulled off and they didn't miss the mark

Idk if its the same what Kyl meant but... I won't ever play it due my shitty pc spec.

When it was announced I thought "I'll upgrade my pc to play SC". Thanks crypto.

Ah, tho SC is not as heavy as it seems, considering I managed good nuf fps on a gtx970 that is a 7 years old gpu, It tends to be fine taking the usual peaks off, and when the server derps everyone gets bad perf no matter hardware shinyness attm.

Wouldn't worry much there, but if some peeps are more dated than that then yeah F

With alpha 3.14 well under testing on evocati there is a large update on combat mechanics that is quite impactful on how it plays.

Star Citizen Alpha 3.14 has a lot of changes when it comes to spaceship and vehicle based combat. Due to the introduction of capacitor gameplay / power management v2 and missile operator mode we had the opportunity to review and rebalance almost all of our combat stats.

The full info post from evocati with details:
