Entire African continent IP blocked ?

Looks like all of Africa and the Middle East is IP blocked by Daum.

I'm not risking playing "illegally" via VPN, that account could be cut-off at any time. Daum seem quite aggressive about the IP block and "regional exclusivity".

Ever think that maybe the reason is because they aren't allowed to include those regions, i think its pretty clear. Daum have the rights to the game for NA and Europe, nowhere else.
Chances are you will have to use one of the other localisations, one of them must cover that region, if not, then just have to wait until someone purchases the rights to cover those regions.

My apologies, it is in fact Pearl Abyss that's aggressively enforcing the regional policy. They want to sell the rights in as many regions as possible to make the most money out of it, obviously.

The sad fact is that nobody is going to pay for the rights to publish in regions like Africa and South America, the potential revenue is simply too small from those areas.

Ah well, there's plenty of other games to play, no biggie.

I'd say take the risk and play via a high quality VPN, you can only lose the ability to access the game, a gov't hit squad won't be showing up at your door.

Daum is only requires to IP block, not ferret out every person who might be employing evasive maneuvers.

Not worth the risk to VPN it.

If I'm going to invest substantial amounts of time (and some money) playing a game, I want to be certain that all my effort isn't going to be arbitrarily yanked at some future date when Pearl Abyss leans on Daum to do a VPN sweep.

Perhaps a year or two from now, Pearl Abyss will realise that nobody is ever going to pay them for the rights to publish in the "fringe markets". Perhaps then they'll bundle more territories into Daum's licence. I may decide to play then, if BDO is still relevant at that point...

Um you better quit all MMOS then, because any MMO at any time can be shut down, and eventually will be shut down, your illusion of it not is just that. As far as them figuring out your playing from some where else fat chance. That is like saying they are gonna stop cheaters with anti hack haha. Just buy a server with a high powered graphics card, and stream it from there. I played Ark over my server once, and since its running on the server there is 0 chance it is going to be detected, they would have to hack into the server and look at it, which they aren't going to do, because it is a crime.

Use a vpn,  I'm sure Daum games will gladly have you as a costumer they are just required to ip block.

I am having so much fun in this game, I havent had this much fun in mmo in a loooong time, in the beginning the game felt strange and overwhelming, but once I got into it I never get what I want to do done because there is always something else catching my attention.

I was planning on going to grind myself to max level but I have been on lvl 20 for the past 2 days with being online 8 hours a day doing other stuff, and leveling at these levels does not take long at all

    Get a grip, lol

All the MMORPG's I've ever invested serious time in are still running today, and will quite likely be around for a good few years yet. The risk of any AAA MMO being shut down is trivial in it's first 5 years of life (unless it's called Wildstar). The kind of game I'd play seriously is not going to be a six-month-wonder...

Well using VPN is against their EULA, and a bannable offence. Furthermore they already ban some of VPN IP (correct me if I'm wrong, I read it somewhere).

So not worth the risk of potentially burning your cash because of it. Also, if you get caught late in the game having bought store items, there's nothing you can do.

Also, VPN tends to add another 100ms to your latency.

South America is not a small market, is a huge market, just look at Brazil, problem is, most of the MMO players on South America, dont really want to play on Latin (only) MMO servers. We have our reasons, is also something about Brazil, we dont even play on our own LoL/WoW servers, as an example.

However, BD issue, is all about money and a World Wide License looks like is not a cheap thing in this case, and i dont think BD will be popular enough to buy that license.

I'm sure Black Pearl would be delighted to sell rights to Africa, the Middle East or South America if anyone in those regions were interested in buying the rights and localizing for the relevant languages.
