They are probably subsidizing the price in an attempt to solidify their 36M installed Playstation customers. Very smart move...

The price does not include the Playstation camera and special VR controllers, which means they could recover some of the headset manufacturing cost that way.

It sounds like the closest thing to "entry level" vr. It could very easily have the biggest initial install base.

I don't know that it really matters, any one getting a VR set would be well off any ways. What is 200 bucks to some one that has a computer with 2 980 tis, which would be what you would need to use the HTC one, considering it has 2k screen, at 90 hertz. Maybe that new generation of GPU coming out, wont be a lie, and it will deliver on its promise of 10 times faster than the cards out now. As for me, there is no way I am spending 1200 dollars on graphics cards, and then 400 or 600 on a vr set. A 75 inch 4k Tv would be worth much more to me, than that.

But thats just me, I wouldn't buy one if it was 5 buck. Can't see me making my self 100 percent totally oblivious to everything around me. I am gonna love to read the stories, about how some one had one of these on, and got their house broken into, and totally robbed cleaned, while totally obvious to everything.
