Really not a big fan of Reddit, although I visit there often.  I dislike that it's even more of a popularity contest than the current "Insightful / Agree / Awesome / LOL" system we have here, and certain subreddit mods tend to view it as their personal sandbox.

Maybe it's time to kick the habit.

Literally the first comment I saw after scrolling past the initial post was negative, ending with "I am not sure if Daum/PearlAbyss are idiots or simply plain moronic ?". Lols

There is plenty of BDO hate on reddit, not sure how you're missing it.

You're taking the post out of context.  I didn't mean to imply that there weren't any differences of opinion being made.  Those types of remarks are perfectly normal in civilized discussions.  On any given day one might feel compelled to call a family member an idiot or simply plain moronic but that doesn't mean they don't love that family member.  Point being, that is a largely positive discussion being held regarding outstanding issues on the game.  You have to look pretty hard to find anything that would be considered flaming or toxic.  Everything is relevant and constructive.

I feel this thread is idiotic and moronic but I mean that  in a loving (though not inapropriately so) way. that's OK then right?

Seriously, if Reddit is so virtuous hang out there. Why do you want to save posters here from them selves? Do you see yourself as some sort of evangelical missionary? In any case your fighting a loosing battle (is that negative). Personally I value truth free of perceptional bias and 'agenda', if that's negative so be it.

Have you read the entirety of this thread at all before posting the above.  I doubt it because had you done so you it would have been made clear to you by not only myself, but several other posters, that this isn't about Reddit, it is simply about the viability of having civilized and constructive debate when discussing games. That said, you are exactly the type of poster that I am trying to "save" from the rest of us who enjoy this site and would rather avoid the immature game bashing that is all too often tolerated.  You brought nothing to this discussion with the above post.  As a matter of fact, rarely does one encounter a poster who manages to insult him/herself with a post in which they intended to demean another poster but, congratulations, you've achieved that rare distinction since with your last sentence you literally agreed with the exact point that I am trying to make with this thread.

I was being ironic, a tool used in 'civilised debate' since the ancient Greeks and probably before. The irony was obvious (I thought) though clearly lost on you. There was a pretty strong clue... starting the second sentence with 'seriously' i.e. implying that I was not being serious in the first sentence.  I like to think I am 'civilised and constructive' though  if its the question of getting a smile or being constructive then I'd go for the latter 9 time out of 10. Clearly I touched a nerve and did not get a smile from you well you win some you loose some.

I find it interesting that you presume to 'know my type' and that you claim to speak for 'the rest of us'. You clearly have no trouble with condescension. Ironically (again)  I have no doubt that your intentions where good starting this thread. However with this last post (which I find offensive by the way) it seems clear that you are far too quick to judge, to be patronising and demean the person. Isn't this part of what what you where campaigning against?

Anyway, as you noticed I was agreeing. Though let me make the point again negativity is fine as long as it is the truth. Truth trumps all.

Irony and sarcasm do not easily translate to text.  If the intent is to exercise either of those two in a post it would be advisable to type /sarcasm, or state the irony, to avoid confusion. Assuming that others will understand your irony or that you are being sarcastic is asking for others to do your job for you.  That said, I still fail to see any irony or sarcasm in your post. It was demeaning and condescending in every way.

Regarding your point that I have no problem with condescension, in that you are absolutely correct and I make no apologies for it.  I think that most that know of me in this forum know that I can dish it out pretty good as well as receive it. But I only do so when I am personally targeted which, unfortunately, happens all too often on this forum.  Your post was everything but civilized and constructive. Any post response that starts out with "I feel this thread is idiotic and moronic" deserves condescension in return.

I find it interesting that anyone would complain about being offended when they had no problem with initially being offensive themselves.  That said, I appreciate your input because it brings forth a perfect example of why threads get unnecessarily derailed when a poster decides to target the poster, rather than focusing on the topic at hand.  Had you focused on the message at hand, instead of the poster posting the message, we would have never arrived at where we are now.

    Respect begets respect.

I would happily explain if you really don't see it , however I suspect you read it in a hurry jumped to a conclusion and have already made up your mind. My statement that you highlight (out of context) was taken directly from the second post. You said this was OK in this case. I then asked a question is it OK to say 'XYZ'? The clue was in 'is it alright to say' and the question mark at the end. If you read it back you will see that I obviously did not allege XYZ. To make it crystal clear I then followed with  'seriously'. Incidentally there was a point in that first sentence too and it wasn't to demean the thread.

You seem like a reasonably smart guy or gal and I think if you re read what was actually written it is quite clear without an <irony> tag. All I can imagine is that you are deliberately being obtuse to justify your original (erroneous) assessment this is further evidenced by the fallacy of contexomy.

Feel free to PM me if you really don't see it as despite what you might think I had  a point to make and do not wish to 'bring down your thread'.

Not sure how you take idiotic or moronic out of context...

More to the point, I see plenty of hate on reddit more so than I have ever seen on this forum tbh.  Having said that, you should have been here before they really started moderating these forums.  You think I am an Ass and difficult, abrasive, there were people here that made me look down right civil.  No joke.  Be happy this forum is what it is today, it used to be so much worse.
People are missing the point here.

The OP is not staying "look, redditt is a bastion of manners and civility and there we see a civil discussion about a game".

He is saying "there is a discussion on reddit that is civil. This is what discussions should be like".
Oh I get his point, my point is:

This forum has come a long way and while there are bad seeds every forums has them, this one isn't nearly as bad.  You have a large amount of people discussing a large amount of games you will have disagreements.  Some times very passionate disagreements.  However, I can't remember the last time I saw a big FU fest take place on these forums.

If you want examples go here  That is the highbrow conversation that is Reddit.
