In the next month there will be some news that can be spun as negative about some game. See! I have insiders too.
Hence the 'remind me in 4 weeks!'. If a trailer has 'Craig Fairbrass', a check that the source is legit. If there are 3 high profile exits, another check that the source is legit.
If you are media, no checks required cause you know more than I. Word on the street is that EVERYONE is talking.
Word on streets. Must be legit.
These anti sc posts re so common the impact is lost now. Every week someone predicts a cr meltdown or they are redoing everything and way over budget. Even if youre 100% correct, people dont care anymore because both sides are so annoying.
What I take issue with is them scamming money from my friend, and many more hard working poor people.
Based on what evidence and which facts?
The fact that my friend simply does not have the disposable income to be spending that kind of money backing a project. Yet their hope hoodwinks them somehow into justifying it. Meanwhile I have no faith in the fatties working on the project.

You say Anti-SC I say pro-truthseeking.
Protip: first person accounts hold more credibility than word on the streets and heresay.
If you really are a truth crusader get an interview or some original primary source material rather than speculation. Otherwise it more internet dumbassery.
Chris is really pissed about ED I mean really pissed. Its everyone fault but his of course
I'm gonna assume the obvious and say this is Elite Dangerous? What exactly is he super pissed about? Is it the fact that ED is an actual playable game that was completed for a fraction of a fraction of what is wrapped up in the Star Citizen scam....ehm debacle?

So your logic is that because someone bought something they cannot afford it is the companies fault and it must be a scam?

LOL go away that is ridiculous.
I think it's that "friend" we all have when we want to talk about something but are too embarrassed to admit it's about ourselves.
Ya, my imaginary friend named Don that I have been gaming with since DAOC. Anthony his friend that bit into the hype train, and talked Don into anteing up.

Well its not too late to get their money back. They can always take it up with SC. if that doesnt work they can always go to their CC company and get it charged back.
Your 'friend's are either badly informed about what it means to get involved in a game at such an early stage or shouldn't be allowed to manage their own finances.
Either way blaming the game for their own failings at life is just outrageously....inept.

I have decided to talk to him about getting his money back. He needs a new monitor bad anyway. I'll have to read through that refund post again.
GrumpyHobbit seems fully invested, I hear they have some new ships soon. You should get ready to pony up.
GrumpyHobbit seems fully invested, I hear they have some new ships soon. You should get ready to pony up.
Fully invested to the sum of £25 or £30 or whatever it was when the game first came out a few years ago. I also think the amount given buying ships is stupid but people are free to spend their money on whatever they want.
I am more fully invested is pointing out stupidity whenever I see it though. Your friends are prime examples if they are blaming SC for their own shortcomings. They only have themselves to blame and trying to shift the blame is both unfair and shortsighted.

boot_leg is saying that HE feels concerned for his friends, not that his friends are blaming anyone.. On a side note, I also feel like it will be a miracle if SC ever does get released. I'm by no means a fangirl, however, as I don't even bother to follow this game after all the drama surrounding it, it's logical just to stay far away from it and let actions speak for themselves.
I think it was 2 years ago when I was watching a presentation on what was already a late release and his wife was on stage and she said 'he is late as usual'. That is when I devested interest.
I could tell at that point that CR is bigger at marketing then he is at delivering and that he is one of these personality types that says yes to every idea he has.
Is that a bad thing? not by default HOWEVER, as a possible consumer, knowing this fact and then continue to watch development progress on a regular basis is just silly. I just resolved to look at the game when it comes out and if it comes out.
one statement made over a year ago.....
what I didnt do is make a new career of pointing out how the project is late every single friggin day on some forum
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
So Chris thinks that advertising and pulling in money is more important then making a playable game. This has been clear since the second year. I think he's in way over his head on this one, he's got Trump syndrome where no one can be right but himself. Combine this with small man syndrome and we have one of the biggest potential disasters in gaming history. I honestly thought they would at least produce a game but at this point I'm beginning to doubt it.
The head of a company wants said company to make money. News at 6.
If the developers can't be up front and honest with us, than I suggest you be up front and honest with yourselves. At this point, people so invested in the game have too much to lose to just give up hope, while the rest of us just wait for reality to hit the fan covered in dung.
First off, I'm not sure of the level of honest you're looking for. Usually if you're going to set a bar, you should give at least a couple examples, unless you're just calling for overall honesty across the entire industry. You know like, "In this day and age, I would expect graphics to be at least as good as ESO". In my experience there's really nothing to compare against in this case. Developers are generally not open at all. So is this a call for all developers everywhere to be open and honest with people? Or are you saying that CIG needs to be open? Either way it's not realistic.
On your second point, I would go as far as to say that you're completely right. However, I find it interesting that the majority of people who are highly invested in these conversations seem to be detractors. It's people who have this hard-on for SC and seem to participate in these circle jerk threads that really amount to "I guess we'll see." or "Hey, let's do harm by doing this." It's a rather unfortunate anomaly, actually. I think, in the case of SC, it's due to the fact that it's SOOO big, plus Crowdfunded, plus has carried on their funding efforts, so it's a perfect storm. Lots of Internet Hate though.

lets step back a second.
what 'investment' are we talking about specifically. most likely you are refering to 'attention investment'. if one just stops paying attention, go and play other games, progress in the game will not stop because they are no longer paying attention.
Just go take a world tour, come back and see if the game is done or not.
simple as that

Why do people keep saying this? Because that is what they claim(ed)? We already know everything is going to be (tiny) instanced so 'big' is definitely a misnomer.
But then again you could mean scope and not 'physical' game size. But either way we dont know if either of those are actually big. We know what they have claimed it would be. But we also now know that the physical limitations are going to make whatever size they make the universe almost meaningless.
As for the scope the scope gets smaller and smaller every time they eliminate something. You notice the first couple years they were adding and adding and making more and more claims about what the game was going to get and be. The last year or so when the criticisms have really come to the fore there have been no new announcements of additions (despite raising another 25-30 million in that time), and in fact they have officially eliminated quite a few things and set the stage for more possible future cancellations of other announced components also happening. As well as claiming if they dont raise X amount of dollars a month development could slow even more.
We are surely seeing the beginning of the end of the dream of SC, whether it is the end of SC proper we wont know for awhile, but even the hardest of hardcore believers have now come to the realization this game isnt going to be a shadow of what the original claims made it out to be. But those hardcore believers are still hoping that whatever gets delivered will be mindblowing.
Hey, The Smarty has linked to this thread from Twitter ;-)
And he cannot delete all his critics here like he does on his own Twitter account. Too bad :-D
Furthermore as he has many of us here on "ignore" for providing arguments he cannot refute, he does not even see this ;-) Because that is his strategy ... arguments he does not see do not exist, so he is happy !
See let us enjoy once again the Derek Smart Failparade: (so his fans can read it too ,-)
Hahaha. I'm glad EightAce's insider post made it's way here. I can't blame Oldman for wanting to distance himself from this train wreck.
You should mention that this post is a product from the TOTALLY UNBIASED somethingawful.com forum ;-) Which have spent the last months abusing Oldman pictures and videos any way they could (and a few more ways they shouldn't).
Which gave us such memorable moments such as the "Flying Penis Incident" (Second Life) or the "Thou should commmit suicide!" demands to a clinically depressed player (EVE Online).
I am sure we can expect more such high quality input on Star Citizen in the future.

If you are making a joke then it is deeply disrespectful to those that do legitimately have issues.
If you are being serious please explain why you feel free to verbally abuse someone not here to defend themselves.
