They killed Dungeon Runners, Auto Assault, Tabula Rasa (in a very underhanded fashion), City of Heroes (despite the fact it was still making money), and have a reputation of treating western developers and customers like absolute crap. They're the Electronic Arts of the Koreas, and given their xenophobia, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out it was actually owned by that little toadie Kim Jong-Un.
Even Nexon looks good compared to them, IMO.
Frankly TR was Garriot's fault whether people want to admit it or not. NcSoft might of handled firing him in an underhanded way, but by all accounts it was a massive burden to keep the game up when it wasn't selling a lot. The reason for the cancellation is in the largest part (at least from what I observed) the constant "rehashing". The original design ideas and concepts and work done were scrapped, then other builds were scrapped and you finally got what was released.. The problem is going back to the drawing board frequently takes more and more money and increases the budget of the game. When they did not make back enough money from sales of the games and subscriptions after a set time they obviously canceled it as it was literally losing them money still on server fees and the like.
No matter how hardcore a fan base is they need to remember that bad design decisions by a game lead that push budgets higher lead to higher expectations from the game publisher as such it was unrealistic to expect NCSoft from EVER keeping TR going when it's budget went too high.
I find it hard to believe the OP didn't remember any of this before posting NC Soft is the best trash or troll thread. I find NC Soft to be one of the companies I avoid like the plague as they will shutdown anything.
BnS? Requires game guard. nuff' said Linage Eternal? Please it'll be botted and a festering nightmare.
This and Ubisoft are in the same manner of crapastic developers/publishers that are still around. Actually it would be a boon of EA had the ability to buy out the company.
Ha! Should have stopped before the EA comment. There is no game company worse than EA. They managed to mess up Starwars! It takes some effort to suck that bad.

Even they managed not keep many people happy. They do get in people wallet pretty easy over games that don't. We as a player base sometimes vote with are wallet to much in the to dark side.
Shutting down CoH when it had a large and active community is one of those unforgivable sins that you never forget. Shutting down TR and L1 for NA market were understandable. Not CoH that was uncalled for. Killed off way before its time. The closing of CoH ranks up there with what SoE did to Star Wars Galaxies.

Bottom line is don't trust NCSoft.
Nah, it's a step beyond what SOE did to SWG. At least SOE can somewhat hide behind the fact keeping the game alive would've required them to keep paying licensing costs to one of the most expensive IPs on the planet... NCSoft had no such excuse, since they owned every last part of CoH.
SOE also gave those EMU guys their blessing to host the game, while NCSoft spat on the developers of Paragon Studios when they tried to BUY themselves free of the publisher and continue on by themselves. For all of SOE's faults, they are the lesser evil of those two by far.
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Actually Lucasarts was quite forthright about SWG. They wanted SW:TOR to become the new face of the franchise. The pulled the license on SWG, and left SOE with no choice in the matter, other than expensive lawsuits that they would lose.
While SOE has done plenty over the years to piss off their customers, The SWG thing was not their fault.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

If this is true, this just show how ugly a company gets when there money to make and we don't see it.
Never had a problem with NC, until i played B&S. By far the most disgusting cash grab in the history of MMORPG's besides that game that sold pictures of ships. For a casual player it's either "open up your wallet" or "get lost!". Not to mention they only gave half of an expansion which was the worst localization effort in the history of mankind for a triple A product.
Developers are the ideas factory. They want to make the "perfect" game. These are the innovators, the people working due to passion for gaming. Sure, skill levels vary, some developers are just crap, but as a general rule developers genuinely want to make "good" games.
Publishers, on the other hand, are pure investment vehicles. They put money into a project and expect to get money out. Because they have sooo much money, this gives them partial / full control over the developers and this level of control allows them to fuck up games and screw over customers, all in the name of making money.
In the MMO market specifically, the only company I trust is Turbine. They are specialists in the MMO world. They seem to treat their games and their customers with respect. They aren't afraid to innovate and they try to keep their games going for as long as possible. Importantly for me, they aren't afraid to admit when wrong and I've seen them reverse some big decisions in LotRO. Do they make mistakes? Of course, they are just like any other company run by humans so mistakes are inevitable, but they never seem to be acting maliciously or deviously.

Only game i played for decent amount of time is Lineage 2 for obvious reasons. All their games are bot infested and usually fail at launch in the West.
Except Lineage 2 still has severs up (10 years now...9 years maybe in western markets) Aion, GW still going, Blade and Souls is very populated. So not sure where you got your facts from, but you are mistaken.
More to the point of the post, Yeah NCSoft has to be the most bot friendly developer out there.
Lineage II was helped enormously by the fact that farmers found it profitable to buy the game and create account/pay subscriptions even when their bots were banned simply because they made so much money selling arena to players.
They've had to merge servers 2-3 times already, and I think they're merging servers again now.
Apart from that, they've been selling lots of P2W items on the cash shop that many players dump hundreds into.
As far as actual players, the game is close to dead here. My entire guild quit, which is why I quit the game.
Aion barely has players here anymore. They now put all new players on a fast track server to level them up super fast, Lol.
Blade and Soul is infested with Bots. GW is dead for all intents and purposes, unless you're referring to GW2 that the population is disillusioned with regards to the expansions they launched. Which I'll never buy because it's overprice as hell.
I have no trust in NCSoft whatsoever.. A business has to look out for business, but that is of little consolation for me as a player of closed down games such as Tabula Rasa, City of Heroes, and Auto Assault's beta.. I loved TR and CoH and still remain a bit bitter (as is my right).. I never once felt like NCSoft gave a damn about their players at all..

The next chart will add MasterXMaster and we still have Lineage Eternal coming.
So because blizzard made a game that has pulled in more earnings than all the ncsoft mmorpg's put together, and has no need to shut down their mmorpg and start another mmorpg, that means ncsoft is the king of mmorpg's (because they have the largest cycle of shutting down games to start new of the same games). I'll leave you to deal with the logic of this.
The hate is strong.
They are the kings because they have the largest selection of mmos out right now and they keep making them.
The OP is correct when he said that NC Soft is the only company that has stuck to their mmo guns meaning they continue to be a mmo company that makes mmos.
Again, this just proves my point because nobody can name a company that does what NC Soft does.
Like I said earlier that only company that can compare is Nexon.
Source to where Blizzard's game has made more? Or are you just talking?

Not as big as NCSoft, sure, but they are a company dedicated to making MMOs, have a long history in MMOs and are still actively expanding their existing MMOs (not sure if they are in development of any new games). They also have a much better history of supporting their games long term.

Blizzard?
This proves their is no competition. They made 1 mmo back in 2003.
