What are you playing? (April 2016 edition)

MendelMendel Member LegendaryPosts: 5,609
My MMORPG game time has dwindled.  Mostly due to the fact that MMORPGs are doing the same trick, over and over.  I've found myself moving more towards CRPG and Strategy games (my old standby).

Games I am currently playing:
  • Thea: The Awakening.   Turn-based, strategy / RPG / survival / god game.  Amusing and frustrating.  Nearly fallen out of my chair laughing or fuming at this game.  Check it out and watch your free-time check out.
  • Hearts of Iron 3.   I'm still experimenting with this RTS adaption of WW2.  What if France builds nothing but tank destroyers, can they withstand the German onslaught in 1938.  Nope.  What if France builds only Artillery, can they hold the Maginot line?  Nope.  What about air power?  ...  Lots of experiments, and a good conduit for me to conduct them in.
  • Everquest 1.   I still manage to find time for an hour break to do something with the genre's grandfather.  Why?  I don't know.  Go pester someone else.
Games on standby:
  • SW:TOR.  I've put in over 200 game hours on this one, and I still haven't finished the class quest.  My quest list just gets bigger every time I log on.  One of the most frustrating games I've encountered, but I might manage to play an hour a month.
  • LotRO.  I seemed to have lost which servers my characters are on with the great server move.  But the game was getting difficult to keep my attention on this one.  Now, I can't tell which server has my new (newest) characters, and where the remnants of prior game periods are.
Games on the horizon:
  • Stellaris.  Paradox's upcoming 4x RTS.  It will have first dibs on attracting my money.  I just need some hands-on time to completely sell myself.  May 2016.
  • Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen.  An actual MMORPG.  It is going to have to show me something beyond the EQ-like systems and game play that they have rolled out so far.  Following, but at a significant distance.  Maybe 2017? 2018?
So, what games have your attention?

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Elsword at the moment.  Once I've had enough of that (and I've gone through most of the content already), I'll probably go with either Trove or EverQuest II (which I've never played) for a while.

SWToR mostly, wife and I started new chars. A trooper and a consular and we having a blast. Leveling is way to quick with the changes but it's still a blast.

We also have been playing the old halo games that have split screen. My wife screams allot and that's fun as well lol.

When my wife can't play I been kicking it old school in EQ1 with my necromancer :) was my main back in the day and still the best solo class in the game.

BDO all the way. SWTOR on standby for the time being. I'll go back to it to play through the new content at some point.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Occasionally beta testing Albion Online. Other than that, no other MMOs.

If I feel like playing a game, I usually fire up Don't Starve.

EVE as always, however in the next few months my favorite DAOC shard will be coming back after a 2 year hiatus, circa 2003 ruleset so old school will be coming back.

Starpoint Gemini 2 -- (Just bought it because it is like 80% off on Steam)

    Same here.

    - Also been going through Farcry Primal.  It's a very fun game and a nice breath of fresh air on the FPS genre.

    - Still slogging through my Visigoth campaign in Total War: Attila

    - Still working on my Skaven campaign in Mordheim: City of the Damned

Blade and Soul is my obligatory MMO.  No idea why I still play these games...

    Dying Light

    Resident Evil 6

Breath of Death VII: The Beginning

    DOOM 1-3 marathon.

    Shadow Warrior

Then I'm thinking I should go back and finish up Dark Souls 2 for the inevitable Dark Souls 3 purchase, but I'd also like to take another go at Divinity OS with a friend of mine.  I'm also waiting for some survival mods for Fallout 4 to spruce up the challenge.

I own so many games, but right now I am playing SFV on ps4 and finishing dark souls 2 before DS3 drops. Yes, I know DS2 is not represented in the new game as much as DS1 and Demon's Souls.
