I honestly didn't like Vanilla stage of WoW very much.  So, if I were going to go back to WoW, it wouldn't be on a legacy server.

I'm not saying the game isn't a bit of a mess now, but back then it was worse.  Most of the classes/talents were garbage, etc.

Some of those big PvP battles in the world were fun, but that's about the only thing I missed from Vanilla era.

If there was one Blizzard product that i'd play this would be it. They could progress up until wotlk and then restart with new vanilla server and let us start the journey again.

Of course their opinion is less valid to me than my own.  I'll go with my own opinion over the opinion of others any day, and so would you.  And you're forgiven for being a hater. ;)
Why would he needs to be forgiven?

We are talking about video games here. So if we hate some, what is the problem?

Make wow the old way it was prior to ruining it with burning crusade and perhaps i might go give it a try again.

    Nostalrius players:
"FU Blizzard! We hate you! Why did you close our server?"

    1d later:
"But if you open up Legacy servers we would be happy to donate our money to you for years to come, please please please!"

"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"

Yes I would 100%. I think that they'd be more successful opening up Progression Servers rather than just Legacy servers. Progression through the patches in similar time they were released originally, going up through the expansions.. I feel like a lot more players who never experienced Vanilla - Wrath would love to go on the journey. :)

no i did not like original wow, never played it since.
  • VolgoreVolgore Member EpicPosts: 3,872
No, but not because the game was less convenient without a group finder or something.
The biggest part of my WoW experience back then was playing with a group of rl friends that quit over time and never went back as life eventually happened to one after another.

Back then i was also totally new to the game. Playing my hunter without any knowledge of the class, beating crocs in the wetlands with a 2H staff (because cool animations), white starter gear and no pet -as i didn't know how to tame one and thought it wasn't necessary. I had like 50 silver, while one friend had 3 gold and was filthy rich.

Knowing all i know about the game today, joining a vanilla server wouldn't be the same without the "adventurous journey into the unknown" or "clueless newbie taking on the world" feeling to it.

They won't bother. They have bigger fish to fry. Overwatch release is soon. Hearthstone is doing well. I am quite sure they are not going to waste time & money trying to cater to a small niche.

Why would I when the full game is better.

Also don't be fooled they want to play for free. In fact people are looking to do it but more low key.

Of course not I hated vanilla and  I think it was stupid grinder  but wow with rest expansions didn't get better it took me many years to realize it that's why I won't buy even Legion I'm sick of wow . And of it gear grinding ....every thing just became monotonous and repetitive ...and useless

Getting pretty tired of the free game argument when the people who want to pay don't even have the option.

I wouldnt even pay to play current WoW. Some of us have standards you know.
  • MikePtMikePt Member UncommonPosts: 47

I'd play a modified version of vanilla. Bring back trees, let hunters dual wield. Don't make me grind a week to get enough coin for a mount - egads that was horrible. And keep flight.

HAHAH you wish I bet most which said yes will quit after a few weeks of mindless grind

If you would play vanilla WoW, would you pay for it?
Talking about games where thousands of players exist simultaneously in a single instance and mechanics related to such games.

Yes. Sure, past versions weren't perfect, but they were a hell of a lot more fun then the current version of the game. Vanilla I'd not consider my favorite but I would like the aspect of leveling through it again and having the experience that provided which was great for me at the time, sure it was rough but at the same time it really built up a certain atmosphere I wouldn't mind taking 1 more trip through (and just one more at least for now). WOTLK I'd probably play much more indepth with a little TBC. I get urges to play them and it would fill an urge that wow hasn't filled in a long time.

A lot of these comments make me feel old.  Do people really see vanilla WoW as a grinder?  It was highly ridiculed by some back in the day because it wasn't as grindy as the mainstream games at the time.  It streamlined everything about an MMO, and turned the entire genre on its head.  Some said back then that it dumbed it down.  Has WoW really come so far from what it used to be?  No wonder I can't stand current WoW.

Primary selling point was the fastest time-to-cap in MMO history (of all games released until that point.)

But the trip from 40 to 60, at jogging speed, in vanilla was grindy as hell. And the only zones you had to do it in, the worst. Bleah. This is not the part players remember fondly when they dream of Legacy servers.

They've since accelerated the leveling several times. Which should tell you pretty much all you need to know about the current game.
