I think Mark Kern knows Mike Morhaime better than any of us do.
Yes, but it sounds to me like he doesn't have a close working relationship to me. Get it? That's why I would pick up the phone... IF I were that close. The fact he has all this prework to do sounds like he just has an in.

The paperwork is what is needed to make the case once he's ready to talk.
i would buy and play WoW again if they released a legacy server. probably my favorite time in gaming was the community during vanilla. if you were level 60 everyone knew who you were, community was tight.
A petition for Blizzard to open a private Legacy Server has acquired over 200,000 signatures.
With the petition at this benchmark, Mark Kern—a former World of
Warcraft team lead— is working on delivering the petition to Blizzard
President Mike Morhaime.
In a post to Twitlonger,
Kern detailed his plan to write an open letter and create a video
addressed to Morhaime, along with a followup phone call to “his cell and
office.”
"Thank you for supporting this petition and for playing
and loving vanilla and early WoW so damn much," Kern wrote. "You did
this. You can make it happen. And I'll be right there alongside you."
How many of those were same person voting through 100 accounts and 100 proxy? But it is going in the favor of Kern who is now jobless, he is probably making his move thinking if Blizzard opens legacy server they would give him the lead position of it's dev team. Well a jobless man can dream, can't he?

Given that the petition can easily be signed more than once, that 200k is irrelevant. *shrugs* With Overwatch and Legion this year, the discussion is not going to happen.

I agree, it is highly unlikely that many people signed and very likely that a small group of people signed it multiple times.
This is how the Nostalrius players right now. A lot of people who signed, don't even care what WoW is. Bunch of people asking every kitten person to sign this petition in twitch and gaming forums. They're actually getting annoying. Even Summit signed it because of some spammers on his chat. He didn't even play WoW in his life. And top of that they can easily sign more than once. So 200k is nothing actually and Blizzard knows that.
imo it just mean peoples enjoy free to play games and they like wow
That's funny I don't play on private servers and would pay to play on offical legacy servers but blizzard just doesn't want my money.
yeah cool but what if there less than 5 k gamers with nostalgic retarded-ness willing to pay for legacy server . I bet most of those freeloaders player of Nostalrius or what ever was called played only because it was free...
It's a lose-lose for Blizzard. Let's say they cave in and make vanilla servers, now they have to make BC servers, and WotLK servers, etc. Where are the petitions for that? Maybe I think late BC was the height of WoW's greatness...

a petition to steal their work and made it available for free, yea, good plan. why not write a petition to porsche and demand a free char, or write a petition to the state that none of you will pay taxes now... hey, you got a petition after all!
and while you are at it, link that picture to facebook again saying you won't acceppt their new rules
ps: vanilla hat up to 20 mins lags. vanilla had falling though the world on mining, NO RAIDS AT ALL and i think 2 instances where in 1.0
so yea, hf playing to lvl 60 and then doing nothing ^^ vanilla doesn't make everything better. especially not stuff you don't wanna pay for

I suspect if they did decide to do some type of legacy servers that they would take the EQ approach. If not familiar, that means unlocking all of the expansions over a set timeframe.
I really don't see them bothering at all, though, to be honest. There's very little benefit for lots of added work.
It's really not a loss for Blizzard either way, though. The only people losing anything are the ones playing on the emu servers... who knew from the start that it was technically illegal and could be shut down at any time.
I'm quite certain Blizzard has already considered and evaluated the feasibility of legitimate legacy servers before now. And, they certainly aren't going to give permission to private emulators when the game is still alive and progressing with over 5 million players.
Nope , like i said in another .. first they will do nothing until for at least 12-18 months , after Legion and after they gather all there data ..Then maybe if they were to have 300k Blizz may lift an eyebrow , but even that probaly wont do it , as they far to well understand these sigs , there origin , intent and agenda...
Amazing how many people want to play an inferior version of an MMO. Though as others have said, I doubt it's anywhere near 200K.

*shrug* Maybe that's the case. But Blizzard has two choices - either open legacy servers and potentially make a small profit, or continue to ignore a small market that is being filled by other people. Sure, Nostralius was shut down, but their players simply migrated to other server communities. The next two largest to my knowledge aren't hosted in countries quite so friendly with the US, so Blizzard will have no way of shutting them down with a C&D the way they did with Nos.
why do people hold vanilla wow in such high regards? wow is still here because of all the changes they made over the years, not because they kept it "vanilla" if blizz listens to the vanilla logic then wow shuts down in 2006.
btw Vanilla wow sucked compared to wow today as a overall game... what makes me PREFER vanilla days are the people.. not the game. The people are diff now.
edit:i would return to wow to play with the sense of unity and community from vanilla.. but again vanilla vs now.. its not even close. wow today is much better as a game the people playing it are worse.

If they just changed to combat and resource management back to vanilla and made quests randomly scattered around the place and bring back the old talent tree then it wouldn't even be such a bad game on the regular servers.

hmmmm ... I have the cell number of every upper management team member in my office. But we're not hanging out at the pool every summer.
