Well the first main goal I think is to finish every storyline from every single expansion, since you can solo every single mission now.
You get high precentage of +% bonus to capacity points (job points) from completing them all.
Then you'll want to hit Ambuscade, a new battlefield they just released this month. Geat 14k points total in one month to obtain the 119 +1 gear. This month its WAR/PAL/DRG/DRK. This gear is super uber, its great for your ability to hit gear, really high accuracy and really high attack, allowing you to hit any mob in the game so far. This is great for end game content and the new End Game Content they are coming out with next month. If you miss this months chance to get this set of +1 gear, dont worry, they will be bringing this set back again, same goes for all the JSE capes which are very very overpowered capes, Amazing stats for your ability to hit/double attack/store TP/Crit hit.
After you get your Ambuscade set of gear, you'll want to get the full AF gear of a job. No level caps on fights.
Then get your full Relic gear for a job. Dynamis can now be entered nonstop as many hours a day you want, and easy to solo with your Trust NPC's. Very soloable and no level caps on fights. Also currency drops at the rate it did in the old days, like candy drops from heaven!
Then hit Abyssea and get all your Abyssea gear for a job. Soloable and really enjoyable playground now. You own Abyssea now, you and your trusts can have alot of fun solo on these mob bosses now. But you still have to be careful, but everything is soloable.
You can choose to upgrade your AF and Relic gear if you wish at the NPC in Port Jeuno, BG Wiki for FFXI has all the info on all of that.
If your a new player, get the 117 Record of Emmience Weapons for your jobs to start with, you can hit unity mobs or other 119 weapon mobs for your weapons at a later time. 117 weapons will be ok for Ambuscace.
Once you have Obtained all your gear sets for your job, now the real fun begins. You use Macro Equip Sets to boost all of your abilities, When you cast a buff you can swap gear, using macros, use the ability and then swap back to your Ambuscade gear +1, then for your Weaponskill, you want to swap gear to the stat modifiers on the Weaponskill of your choice. All basic stuff, but if your new, thats going to get you to the top of the game in no time.
Next, wait for May's new End Game Content and hammer it down!!! New Ambuscade for more jobs are going to be added each month!!!

The next version update is scheduled for early May!Ambuscade is getting a facelift with new enemies and rewards, and new high-end combat aimed at the most determined of adventurers awaits those waiting to sling sword and spell.
On top of the new battle content, players will be able to enjoy several quality of life additions, including an NPC to store the crystals that we know are spilling out of your pockets!
