I feel the price is reasonable.
Plus it acts as some sort of a filter to keep out hackers and less desirable
types of people off the game.

The price will definitely drop. I think Overwatch falls behind compared to its competitors, so we will certainly see some pricing wars in the near future.

I'm a bit bias so take the above for what it's worth.

Lawbreakers looks pretty awesome but the problem I see with Lawbreakers if it's anything like their other games Dirty Bomb, well.. development has well and truly stalled and they are only interested in filling the cash shop with more $$$$$ skins etc not getting the game out of beta with more maps.

Not sure what Lawbreakers sales model is but if it's anything like Dirty Bomb which in fact is a great game if you can get past the odd hacker, the game is free but if you want to earn anything really cool in-game skins etc it's going to end up costing you far more then the box price for Overwatch.

Dirty Bomb's sales model would work fine if they actually continued development in the mean time. As it's F2P not P2W it's pay to look cool.

I  buy origin edition, for me worth every cent .. play over 70+ hour in last week open beta.
Was hyped before, im still on hype-train
    I have over 1700+ Hours in TF2
So I gonna compare this both games, cuz many players make comparsion about them.

TF 2 from start for me cost about 20+ euro with HL2, I dont bother about HL2, lets play TF2. In early stages of game it was fun, no so much guns, hats or any shit-pay-to-play-mods.. You was awarded by playing game with your RNG drop of weapon or OMG HAAAAAAAAT my first hat...after many years this game become shitload game with idle maps and trading, where you only thing to do is trading your shiny hats with others ones and buy overprices 10+ euro taunts and hats.. oh wait you can buy hat + weapon bundle for 50 euro.. rly? FUCKIN RLY?

Overwatch, I was hyped from first annoucement, register for many betas but was not lucky to invite. Heroes, payload+capture mods, and most important for me what I miss in TF2 is ranking system. Atm you are awarded by playing game via gaining levels and opening lootboxes for free, and gain shiny skins, voice lines and sprays what I like and approve. Random "weakly" game mode sound fun, during beta there was brawling system, where you get random hero in start of game. Playing with friends, a lot fun, trying combine your ultimates and ofc skills making this game more enjoyable then tf2, in tf you only switch weapons and randomly spam around map. In overwatch you must think, predict, and cooridanate. And this is overwatch, team-based FPS full of heroes, great stories for every hero and COOL CINEMATICS !!!

Haha... another "you are not in Azeroth anymore" game, like Trion advertised with Rift. We all know how that ended.

EDIT: also quite amusing you say "behind his competitors and then link to a video of a game that is in alpha...
Rift's history has less to do with the game not being good enough and more to do with Trion not being smart enough.  The game was good, the company behind it is full of idiots.  I played Rift on release.  There was nothing to complain about in that game that wasn't status quo for an MMORPG launch.

Seems good to me.  After playing, I'm sure I'll get a lot of time played in it.  Sort of expected it to cost a bit more, honestly.

I'm actually willing to pay quite a bit for an online game that guarantees free updates and free heroes for all eternity.
$40 isnt much, im gonna buy it just because Ill get my money's worth even if i end up playing it like TF2 1 round every month or so.

(You spend nearly $20 1 person to a movie thats without snakes and thats a hour of entertainment, $40 for a game ill always have = worth it)
But who can watch a movie without a snake companion..? =D

I think the price is bit too high for its amount of content, but at the same time I think most people will spent hundereds of hours playing so I guess its ok.

You know when Rift came out Trion produced more content for it in the first few months then most companies produce in the first years of a game being live. For that reason at the time Trion was touted as one of the best gaming (mmorpg) companies around. That semi fell through with Storm Legion and went into a black hole with Archeage.

Yet, it seems arrogant to call a company that was considered among the best with only the release of a single and their first mmo to be filled with idiots. It seems to me that you may be suffering from some mid to short term memory loss.

They may have made some huge screw ups in the present/ recent past but back when Rift came out Trion was the shit, hands down.

As far as Overwatch is considered with some games costing $150 or more now a days I think that $39.99 is on the cheaper end.

A Blizzard quality FPS which is fun to play with characters for everyone and not just the super-twitch gamers for $39.99?

Worth every cent, I even bought the Origin edition.

And the price will keep some kind of players out of the game... like e.g. cheaters. Once banned, will they pay again? I'd also rather see some immature teenage kiddies stick to the free to play options and not pollute this player base too.

So I definitely don't mind the price.
I agree that price will keep cheaters away, i mean did you look at WoW? It also has a subscription on top of it and there is no cheater/botter or goldseller in WoW!!

And also your current favorite BDO, has an entrance fee and because of entrance fee there is no cheater/hacker/botter.

    Right?

Digital copy from Blizzard - Blizzard control the price.
Retail copy from e.g. Amazon - retailer controls the price.

Maybe Walmart might have agreed to buy 500k copies at $15. .

There are multiple factors that determine the price. How many are being bought. How popular the title is. And secondary advertising. "buy your carrots and apples and why not pick up a copy of Overwatch".

Say 300k fly off the shelves but the other 200k don't at some point Walmart will discount. The price will drop. And then go back up when they sell out and the only place to buy is basically Blizzard.

This is why you might be able to buy a boxed copy of TESO say at a discount from Gamestop say but a digital download bought from Gamestop will be full price!

And companies like GMG pass on some of the discount they negotiate on day 1 - basically they aim for a lower profit to shift all their stock quicker. (Publishers tend not to like this).

I've spent $60 on games that only have 25 hours of playtime. I think Overwatch is fairly priced.

Nice job comparing a FPS with MMORPGs, which is like apples and oranges when it comes to cheaters.

    Just two hints for you:

    1) There's no real life profit to be made from cheating in a FPS. You can't sell gold or equipment in Overwatch. An aim bot won't make you rich, it will just make you banned faster. That already gets rid of all those cheaters who wouldn't mind buying a new account once banned because they earned more real life money in the meantime than an account is worth.

EDIT before someone tries that path: cheating won't make you rich through sponsored eSports either, just perma-banned from those competitions.

    2) Matches in OW last 10 to 15 minutes, how many do you think you can cheat in before being banned? It's nothing like MMORPG sessions which last hours and where cheaters can easily stay away of other players in huge worlds.

As I said, apples and oranges. But nice try.
I thought we were talking about how having a price tag stops cheating/botting/hacking, not comparing games, at least i did not compare, i just provided evidence that price tag has nothing to do with these kind of activities. Also you can not sell gold in black desert since trading is disabled through communism simulator. So why do people cheat in BDO? It always has to do with people who want advantage over others no matter what, price tag has no effect with cheating behavior.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

It seems good to me. Price have not drop till now. I am not sure if it can be low later. It will out next week. Hope it can be lower. I dont want to get a pre order.  Such as Dark souls 3 i did on scdkey. But it was lower after game out. So i will wait the game out.

Maps can be added over time.  The best thing about the box price is that it will inhibit cheaters who will lose their box price if banned.  I won't be buying it simply because the game really messes with my carpal tunnel even with a wrist guard.  I had my concerns until they explained that they wouldn't be releasing heroes later for more income.  My initial worry was that it would be a box price with the HOTS store model.

While im glad the game has a price and its not just another F2P, i agree with @Lord.Bachus about the game not having enough content. I know i will purchase the game, but that will only happen when they add more content. Buying it now feels like paying for early access to a game still in development IMO. Blizzards outstanding quality is there, its just lacking content.
