I just fear the "reboot" crowd.  If Blizzard wants to make Legacy servers I do not care.

I fear the reboot crowd too, however a reboot is, in my opinion, highly unlikely.

Most people aren't looking for just a permanent Vanilla server. From my understanding, a progression system is what most people are seeking, myself included. I think Kern was saying what they should do is create vanilla server(s) that would stay vanilla. Upon a certain timeframe, preferably accurate to the traditional timeline, TBC server(s) would be opened. People can transfer their character there or remain on the vanilla as a 'museum' of sorts.

I would play vanilla wow for a while, but I doubt I would stick around once I finished most of the content.  I don't see the point of a progression server.  Why not just have different servers for different expansions and vanilla?   Vanilla is the only iteration of the game I would be interested in.  I never really liked the expansions or the content they added.  Some people obviously do so there should be a server for those who liked x expansion if it is financially feasible.

This may be why current mmos are  the way they are, because players feel they need to beat content.

Some players feel comfortable in a familiar world without that need, a stable world, economy and life of sorts in a game, but not Second Life style.

Personally I just like the game mechanics and world of original WoW.  The classes, environments, and style of gameplay was more akin to my generations likes.  You might say that each iteration of gameplay, art style, and concepts, in various games is like a slice in time that is catered to a specific generation of people.
