Isn't there anything that we can do as a community to get this game relaunched?

Have we already tried to gather up outside of SOE HQ and protest with signs saying "relaunch Vanguard!"

I played some emulated version . .. I was that desperate but none of the NPCs worked so I couldn't craft or quest.

Surely there are enough people that miss it to get their attention somehow?

EQ and EQ2 are still around... why not this game its way better than both of those.

Short of the emulator there's no incentive for a dev or publisher to pick the game up. It wasn't doing all that great when it was shut down, it wasn't doing all that great the entire run it was out. Not saying it wasn't fun or immersive or anything, it just didn't have the population to support it even with the F2P launch. So I don't think there is any way to get it to come back from a real company.

Well could the emulator fix the NPCs at least? : P

Because unlike Vanguard, EQ and EQ2 are actually profitable.

We could start a kickstarter with pledges for 6 month+ subscriptions based on info from SOE on how much money they would need to run this

I agree, that game was great,  however I started maybe in 2011/12 and it was already empty. Some 150 people on my EU server, it was sad. Just nobody around to group with.

Sadly, we're more likely to see COH/COV reborn than Vanguard, not saying Vanguard isn't deserving, but, there it is, there is also the issue with the rest of DBG's MMO's following in Vanguards footsteps tbh, i don't think any of them currently are looking all that safe, and DBG is kind of hoping that some of its other titles, namely H1Z1 will somehow pull the fat out of the fire, good luck with that one though :p

They should have come out with an expansion for this game...

Nope thats not the reason they gave for shutdown. They said they didnt want to fix the outdated graphics code.

Sure, one could argue they would have rewritten the code if there was enough players, and thats probably true. But they probably would have kept it running anyway if that specific problem had not occured.

    Um.

You didnt actually play this game, did you ?!?

Vanguard was a seamless world. That means expansions are impossible.

Unless you mean to make a different server for every possible combination of expansions (and that means a thousand different servers after 10 expansions, a million different after 20 expansions, a billion after 30, a trillion after 40) and force players to have the exact identical list of expansions if they want to be able to play together, force all player to buy all expansions, or come up with a way to have a seamless world but some players dont see some content that others can see (which sounds like code hell to me, basically an invitation for bugs).

They did the reasonable thing and instead published new content for all, without any extra payment.
