For someone like myself who crafts more than anything else this is a big change for the better towards subbing to the game.
Yeah, it's huge for me too since I have top level crafters for all crafts. My bank and inventories are currently full of mats and very little else. It'll be nice to be able to store set piece armor and weapons, siege equipment, etc., instead of just mats.

Haha so many clueless people here.

ESO sold 3+ million of copies last year on PS4 (it was one of the best selling games there) and 2+ millions of copies on Xbox1.

Moving on. ESO IS by far the most popular MMO on PS4 and Xbox1. Neverwinter and FFXIV are so far behind.

We are talking about the biggest thing ever since WoW in 2004. I don't know why are some so surprised and don't want to acknowledge that. Yes ESO is very popular and yes it sold heck of a lot. The game is great, it's the best MMO of 2015 and so far of 2016, ZOS very well deserved it all.

I mean come on why do you think WoW lost 70%+ of all Subs in a time period AFTER ESO released? Use your brain people.

Zenimax became a direct competitor to Blizzard. Not only in the MMO genre, but in others as well.

Would you like to provide a verifiable source to the numbers you are quoting.

So not VGChartz - a guess based on a few focus groups; or Gfk-chart track - a guess based on some sample sales returns, or Forbes - usually an outright guess or ...... and so on.

We can speculate to our hearts content. Torval could easily be right when he suggests 5M to 10M.

Bottomline: us "clueless folk" know that we do not know. And we know that the sites that say 3+ million and 2+ million are unverified guesses.

As MF says in the interview Bethseda do not release numbers. Well we know they do when it suits them but in this case they haven't - other than "millions". Do you seriously believe Matt Frior "forgot" that they had previously announced 3+ million on PS4 and 2+ million on XBox1. Seriously?

Do you focus on a single craft per character or do you do more than one per character?
I didn't plan it very well so I ended up with 4 crafters: One does Enchanting and Alchemy, one does Provisioning, one is a Clothier and Woodworker and one is a Blacksmith.

It would be best to have them all in one or at least have one that does all the crafts that use style books and a second one that does the other three things. It does take a lot of points to get the crafting maxed so the more you have concentrated in one character the less points you have available for building that character's abilities but 3 is easy to do.

Mine ended up that way because initially I wasn't planning on doing all the crafts. But whatever, I'll live :)

Sony published a list of PS4's best selling games of the year. ESO was #9 best-selling game of the year. Mortal Kombat X was on the #8 spot, and they've confirmed that they've sold over 3 million copies on PS4 alone.

Hell ESO outsold Bloodborne (#10), which is exclusive to PS4 and very popular game there. Bloodborne reached 2+ million copies sold in September 2015.

What puzzles me is similar to what puzzles me about people getting excited about console exclusives on a PC.

Gamers (I would think) in a large majority (in the PC and console space) already know this game exists. if they wanted to play it wouldnt they already have the PC version?
Contrary to what is said on these forums not everyone who owns a PC has a PC that can play these games.  That is why more and more mmos are coming to the consoles.
fair enough so you are suggesting there is a large set of people who, one, have known about the game for a year, two, wants to play, three, cant play because of an unpowered PC and, four, has an xbox one or PS4.

    do I have it right?
Well saying "a large set of people" would depend on your definition of large.

But yes companies wouldn't be bringing all these mmos and games like Diablo 3 to the consoles if there wasn't a good reason too.  That reason would be exactly what you just said.
enough to justify making an ESO version on console.

lets review my question again and see contemplate how your answer applies to that question:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gamers (I would think) in a large majority (in the PC and console space) already know this game exists. if they wanted to play it wouldnt they already have the PC version?'
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

so my understanding is that you feel the reason they are doing is is because of this:

there are enough people who, one, have known about the game for a year, two, wants to play, three, cant play because of an unpowered PC and, four, has an xbox one or PS4 to justify this move

I don't think many of the people know just how awful this game looks if you don't have a pretty decent PC.  If you have to play on anything below high settings, it looks horrible.  The PS4 version looks like 4K heaven compared to that.  You need a PC that costs 2x or more than a console to play at equivalent or better graphical fidelity or performance at 1080p resolution.

PC Gaming system requirements are too all over the map for me to continue investing there, and I don't like overbuying hardware specs "just in case."  Console graphics looks great to me, and the performance is very good.  The only thing I have to worry about is hard drive space, which is easily upgradeable in a PS4.

I think the difference is that console games are designed for a set spec, while PC games are usually designed for the highest common factor instead of the least common denominator.  This leaves they looking great in reviews on sites and among enthusiasts, but they tend to leave a lot of average players scratching their heads as the games run terribly on thier machines.

I bought ESO on PC/Mac like 6+ months before the console version came out nad played a net total of about 5 hours on that platform, because hte game looks terrible and the performance is not consistent.  The PS4 version is 1,000x better from that perspective for me, except communications in the game is so awful that it's almost enough to completely write it off at this point.
is this a round about way of just saying games look better on consoles?
Its a round about way of saying it looks better on a console than it does on a hum drum mediocre PC.

Thanks. I looked at the characters I have who've collected books and there are only two with a lot of books and they only have a couple of rarer books. The only problem is they are my two favorite adventuring characters. I think I can shift my crafting around and consolidate it to one or two characters once the change goes live.

I collected a lot of the more common books when we used to be able to steal willy nilly. I would come up with a lot of books and recipes that way.
Hey if you have to do one craft per character it's still not a big deal. Having them spread out just means more logging in and out to craft a full set of armor and weapons plus enchants.

The style book thing is also not a biggie for me since I'm always more interested in crafting for function and looks is a secondary consideration. Whether you craft with one or three characters you're still going to have to research each individual armor/weapon trait one at a time and the research time will be the same in either case.
