Contrary to popular belief, Daum does not permaban.

OSG is back after his forced and rather short vacation.

and this is why  hackers will continue...I ran a guild for over 17 years and the few times I let people come back that we could hacking, /cheating, they ALWAYS did it again, so we did perma bans, I even had to do to family, and great friends........   Daum needs to grow some balls...This tells me they only care about money....

I won't play this game long and they will lose good players and  go under if they continue this behavior.. and allow hackers come back...They need to be perma banned!!

They need to permaban otherwise no use. People will leave the game if they do not show a non tolerance policy.

It's pretty much fruitless if the client is hackable, as well as players take on a can't beat em join em attitude.  If it gets to a point where permabanning hurts overall player numbers. This is the result.

At this point it seems it's live with hacking or quit, which has been the sad state of many promising online games.

No one can deny it was a blunder in designing so many things client side.  Yet this is as much a gaming community problem, as it is a problem caused by that blunder.

As you pointed out yourself; the community also has to take steps they might find uncomfortable doing, to thwart this type of behavior. Even as much as parting ways with friends in game who cheat. Too large a portion of the community accept this type of behavior, whole guilds take part in these types of things.

If these players had no place in the gaming community, they'd be a lot less likely to do it. But they do... They skirt by due to the ever present attitude of " the devs messed up, so &&** 'em "

"Contrary to popular belief, Daum does not permaban."

Yes, they do.  He was given a permaban.  But it was reversed when he appealed.  This is not the same as giving a temp ban for hacking.

    The guy's post on reddit:

"Daum is pretty bad at what they do. I appealed and got unbanned. I'm done with the game so going to go out with a bang. And then I will appeal again. Lol now I just want to see how many times I get banned and unbanned. "

He is actually doing the game a service by calling attention to the problem of hacking and the apparently inadequate review process for unbanning players.

Man, this isn't hacking. This is just showing everyone the true power of Gandolph. That's the only reason why PA made gender locking. To be truly representative of movie characters.

Daum's idea (as well as anyone else who thinks it's supposed to be appealable) of what the "perma" part of "permaban" means is clearly very different from the typical English meaning of the implied term.

So anyone can hack all they want, get banned, appeal, go back to playing the game as a level 58 with decked out gear they literally slept to get.

    Sounds good.

Your comment is a joke, the appeal function serves as a safety net to make sure no one gets banned for nothing.  The appeal process has nothing to do with the type of ban (perma or temp) and everything to do with living in a fundamentally just society.  Even law has recognized mistakes can be made on either questions of law or questions of fact... to the point where many countries have up to 3 appeal levels.    Every system is flawed, and to believe otherwise is nonsense.    Get yourself banned in a game without justification and no way to appeal, then come bitch about it the english language not being implied properly.

Yep Moderators censoring content on the reddit / forums, classic, The funny thing is ( I Hate censorship) and I will personally Spread the news in every MMO with friends who ask about "Black Desert" that it is full of hackers with them doing nothing to help kill off the game and prevent people from playing it and why? Because I hate censorship like what clearly is being done on that reddit and what I have hear and seen...

Just like some of these news articles off topic won't say which ones I find some of the things that happen in the real world childish, its not something I will personally put up with, so when the people responsible receive hate mail from me anonymously or others there is a clear reason why... I like to read the news daily, but I don't like censorship, and some of the childish things I have seen lately.

Its people like you who keep others away from games. I play BDO and I play everyday. And I enjoy it, and I dont use hacks

Do hackers ruin my gameplay? No they do not.

Regardless if its an issue, its not bad enough to be telling people to stay away from the game.

The Moderators censoring or deleting things on the Forums has been proven to be them censoring people who act like they are posting feedback but all it turns into is a Flaming Session. Also there have been numerous users on the forums posting missinformation and other forum posters just copy what they are saying. These are the threads the Moderators are censoring, deleting or combining into one thread instead of having 10 threads on the main page from the same few posters.

Guy admits he hacked on purpose to get banned.  Appeals.  Gets unbanned.  Guy admits that he will hack again and appeal again just to get unbanned again.

I think you are confused as to what the real joke here is.

Well locking a thread is one thing removing links and content from a thread for the purpose of censorship is another, like they edited, and locked posts which in my eyes tells me they are doing nothing about the cheaters in the game, some might find it enjoyable still, but I can't play a game that lacks the server side security to stop cheaters from doing the things they shouldn't be able to );.

Perma bans.... Not in Daum's vocabulary.

Of course it doesn't sound good, nor is it good, but the alternative is having permabans unreversable.

In this case, some plays the game for a year, totally legit, but mistakingly gets permabanned by a GM having an off day, and no matter how much he appeals he can never access his account again.

    Sounds good.

    No.

Neither situation is good.  Daum clearly has some kinks to work out in their unbanning review process.  I imagine they started pretty lenient so as not to piss off legit players, but they will probably tighten it up a bit as this keeps happening.

Daum also has a history of some pretty big customer service errors and delays, and I have no doubt that plays a part in all of this.

Yes, they definitely need to clean up their act.

But, no, as far as we can tell, they are not giving temporary bans to people that hacked.

Permaban is not much good when your appeal is: "Unban me and I'll keep paying."

These companies are loathe to ever ban someone that pays them.

I'm not sure an online game in history have had bans that weren't reviewable, mostly because that would be moronic.  Mistakes can and do happen.

Is their review process currently too lenient?  Yes, obviously.  The guy got unbanned and he is actually a hacker.
