This thread is outdated as hacks have been effectively curtailed for now.
The game has suffered chronic financial damage due to it however, and will be a long time recovering.

    -Citation please

Every patch this game releases is broken or buggy, and the patch notes are incomplete and vague.

-Yesterday's patch, the biggest one yet, was released without a hitch.

The PvP is made more and more pointless with each patch, and there is literally no 'point' to the game right now.

    - I'm 53 now and since I've been grinding in contested areas, I've been ganked at least once a day.  It's pretty much just for fun (thankfully) since you don't lose xp anymore (although people do try to make it so the mobs get the last hit and cause you to lose xp).  Much shit talking and grief attempts were had, and it was a fun break from grinding whenever it happened.

We need sieges, and node wars, and leader board arena, and horse races, and more meaningful activities that actually feel like they mater.

Right now it feels so bare bones and lifeless.
    My replies in bold above.

Sieges and node wars were recently tested.  Much fun was had.  Now that we have Valencia and elephants, the game is primed for full siege and node war release.  Should be pretty soon once they iron out the few bugs the testing release had.

As for grind being so evil- I really don't think it is in this game.  I compare it to what I've done in endgames in other MMOs and it's at least as fun.

Is pressing 123etc during a bunch of dailies all that much better?  Is pressing 123etc during a bunch of scripted dungeons all that much better?

I'm actually having quite a bit of fun with grinding.  Picking out the range guys and reacting to CC is actually engaging enough that I can put in at least a few hours without being bored.  I am under threat of death and it happens if I stop paying attention, unlike endgame pve in most MMOs.

Looking forward to sieges, node wars and getting into hunting whales and stuff.  Also currently grinding my butt off to get geared enough for Valencia.

I am surprised people are actually playing this.
I'm curious what MMO you are playing that is better than your 7-day trial experience of BDO.

Frequent critic DMKano's current MMOs are Archeage and BDO (?????).  I think it would be enlightening for readers if people that consistently harshly criticize the game reveal the MMOs they find superior.
I absolutely agree with this. I always wonder this when people take their cheap pot shots at a game. What games do they think shart rainbows with chocolate sprinkles.
I mean just because something is horrible doesn't mean that something else is better.
Things can be objectively bad, and not SUBJECTIVELY bad.
Just because there are problems or things get messy for a bit doesn't mean it's horrible either. I mean if it's all crap then why even come here to discuss games. Just to let us all know they hate games and they think they're bad?
Totally agree, my point was just that someone who says something is bad doesn't need to say what they think is good to be 'correct' about the first thing being in fact bad.
    That's all I meant.

Edit:  Hmm I googled and it said that it contained the words server side etc... Don't see it in the article now... Just google 'server side skills black desert online' there are a plethora of articles on it.
Every patch this game releases is broken or buggy, and the patch notes are incomplete and vague.

Without a hitch you say? Desync is back, go to the forums...  Also, they said they were adding in camels that you could trade tokens to get, that's not in yet.  There are others as well, they constantly don't have patch notes that match the patch, yet again.
The PvP is made more and more pointless with each patch, and there is literally no 'point' to the game right now.

I'm 56, I used to see PVP every day, now I literally haven't seen it since the patch that removed exp loss on death, it's just not worth it.

My replies are in italics... Wish I could have gone for a color change hehe.

Siege wars and node wars were tested, I was also there for the buggy mess that had siege engines that you couldn't damage and other various bugs that they themselves admitted to and gave as reason why it's gone 'indefinitely'.

Grind isn't 'evil' it's just pointless right now, grind for the sake of grind isn't a fun thing.  Do you think Goku would train if he didn't have someone to strive to beat?  That's literally the storyline in the current Super DragonBall.

Dailies suck, dungeons do not.  Yeah I'd like it if a game that completely killed it's open world game added in instanced dungeons at this point.  Would fit what the game is going for it seems.

Yeah I'm looking forward to sieges too, that thing they said would be out 'a month after launch' now 4 months later...

Whales are cool, too bad the boat mechanics (auto pathing, actual driving, and physics) are god awful.

I'll just reply to one thing otherwise this conversation will become impossible

"Hope this exact site we're on counts as a good source? "

No, actually it does not, ESPECIALLY when that source cites DMKano LOL.  Just for example, Kano said the patch borked out mana absorbtion.  Mana absorption has always been wonky, the patch did nothing to change it.

William Murphy continues to state it was a very bad patch, or recently "bad, bad, bad", but I've been playing MMOs for awhile and for a patch as big as that, which was actually a modified big patch, the problems were very tame.

People were passing around a list of bugs saying the patch was bad, but it's actually a list of all the bugs in the entire game.  Every game has bugs.  The bugs caused by the patch itself were not many.

Just for example, for me as a witch, I've had zero issues because of the patch.  Like literally zero.  I don't see how this supposedly monumentally horrible patch can result in zero issues for at least some players.

Regardless, that article does not prove or even reference "chronic financial damage".

No, actually it does not, ESPECIALLY when that source cites DMKano LOL.  Just for example, Kano said the patch borked out mana absorbtion.  Mana absorption has always been wonky, the patch did nothing to change it.  I main a wizard, Mana absorb WAS completely screwed up in the last patch, the only way you don't know this is either A. you don't play a wizard / witch.  B. you JUST started playing after the patch, C. you're lying.

William Murphy continues to state it was a very bad patch, or recently "bad, bad, bad", but I've been playing MMOs for awhile and for a patch as big as that, which was actually a modified big patch, the problems were very tame.  Yes Bill did state facts.

People were passing around a list of bugs saying the patch was bad, but it's actually a list of all the bugs in the entire game.  Every game has bugs.  The bugs caused by the patch itself were not many.  No, they were passing around a list of bugs that were ADDED in the last patch, because they were. I'm not sure why you're trying to defend it by saying 'the bugs were already in the game' that doesn't make it any better... Why did they add in ANOTHER patch after NOT fixing the previous one?  What's your reply to that massive blunder?

Just for example, for me as a witch, I've had zero issues because of the patch.  Like literally zero.  I don't see how this supposedly monumentally horrible patch can result in zero issues for at least some players. So you're saying your mana absorb functions exactly the same as it did prior to the patch? Because it doesn't, that's a bold faced lie.

Regardless, that article does not prove or even reference "chronic financial damage".
Oh if you wanted a source on 'chronic financial damage' there won't be one, it's just common sense. The hackers didn't ALL get caught, and their silver WASN'T removed from the economy after they bought things, so the people who duped, the people who cheated to get an insane amount of items and then got unbanned and stopped hacking after it became detectable caused 'chronic financial damage'.  Common Sense.

If you don't like this site I kindly invite you to leave it...

I guess when I google mana absorb broken all these people complaining about how it changed on the last patch are lying and or crazy huh?

I like the site just fine.  Lord knows I post here often enough.

I don't think however that every article's opinion is written in stone, especially when it cites DMKano as a source..

I thought you were referring to the game's profits, not in-game currency.  Sure, there's no doubt damage to the economy from hacking.  Hacking causes economic damage in any MMO, and every MMO has had hacks in them (most MMOs out probably have more hacking going on in them than BDO does right at this moment).

What's important is that they handled the most common hacks for now.  Hopefully they continue to handle hacking in the future.

See here is the exact problem.

You're welcome to say something isn't working well and / or say that you don't like how it's working but that you still enjoy using it.

That's what we're saying about Black Desert.

DMKano is a fine source, he's someone who is honest and has proven himself to be reliable.  That's why the site used him as a source.

I'm sorry if you don't want to be honest with yourself about what is actually going on with BDO, I play the game, I enjoy it, but it has MASSIVE problems.

Btw, the site also sourced me in the article about how they stopped hacking.  I guess that means I am honest and have proven myself to be reliable.  Woot!

I would listen to DMKano over your jump from one game to another and claim it s the best game on the market. At least he doesn t gush over every new so called best game for the moment.

Sure, but you're doing yourself no service by posting memes and being generally disagreeable for no reason.

You're right.  He's just said Archeage is the best game for the past 3 years or so.

So why respond? As I said, I m sure in a month or 2 you ll be gushing over the next so called big thing. I do respond to BDOs faults, because I think it s one of the worst games to come out in a long long time. Just voicing an opinion, which is allowed. That said I m sad you don t care what I have to say, it hurts me so.

And honestly I don't care what you think.  All you ever contribute to the forums is one-off LOLs and some kind of bizarre pleasure whenever something goes the tiniest bit wrong with BDO.
...do you realize you are the same, equally "bizaar"?
I don't see how talking about a game I enjoy is "bizaar"

Is it more bizzare than stalking threads and LOLing any positive thing said about the game for months?  I don't really think so.

It's true I tend to get enthused about the games I'm currently playing.  If I'm not, I stop playing them...

I suggest you guys try to find games you're equally enthused about playing.  You just might find yourself less motivated to spend your time hating on other games in forums.

Quit BDO a month ago for a variety of reasons, and I haven't once had the urge to start it up again. Pay to win, hacking, mindless nonstop grind, rng, took forever for sieges promised 1 month after the game released, broken patches with wrong or missing information, ridiculous cash shop prices, channel stability issues for months, class imbalance, penalties for non-war pvp, etc. etc.

Game had so much potential, more so than ArcheAge. Was always fun fighting Waifu, best of luck with this shit game.

I'm taking a break myself. I think I'll pick the game back up this fall after I'm done getting flown all over creation for work this summer. Not enough time (let's face it, this game requires you to play obscene amounts of time to even keep caught up/effective) to play.

The hacking is another story all together. Hopefully they'll have that figured out/dealt with soon.
