One step on the right direction - permanent bans announced

Greetings Adventurers,

While the vast majority of the community consists of honest players, some users did resort to cheating by using bots and hacking tools. This kind of behavior is a violation of our Terms of Use and not tolerated by us. After an investigation phase, where we made sure to collect all required details, we will now start banning those individuals on a bigger scale.

Starting today we will ban bot and cheating tool users in waves.
 

Banning waves will take place in regular intervals and we will continue banning as long as we find cheaters.

There is no coming back for convicted cheaters. Bans are permanent.

We also want to thank everyone who participated in our Hacker Hunting Initiative so far.
Please keep it up! The video evidence provided by you has been invaluable to our investigations.

When I see evidence of actual, regular permanent bans from detection systems, I'll believe them.  Until then, I think it is just a case of "we should announce we are doing this so people feel better, even though we still can't detect hackers because of PA's horrible design choice of client side checks."  I'm glad it appears that they are trying to take it more seriously, at least.

This game really puts me off of buying any new game at release. All the stuff that's been going on in this game is just bad.

Too late. The hacks got leaked everywhere. For free too.
Only positive that came from that is now Daum has access to the same hacks, so maybe catching hackers will be easier now?

I love how the white knights were harping about how Daum was soooooooooo good offering an imitative to reward players for reporting hackers....only to QQ on forums and reddit when they saw their 'hardwork' not do a thing. Oh but now Daum is gonna really permanent ban. Not temporarily permanent ban? lol

I love these comments that just put a huge negative spin on the game... with pretty much no evidence clearly showing that that's the case among +50% of people who play the game.

This is one of the best supported Korean to Western ports that i've ever played. 

Please do not compare this game to Archeage. Yeah a lot of people on this site played Archeage and for some reason they seem to judge BDO just as harshly.

Yeah the game has had a few customer service issues but please show me a product that has never experienced this, please show me.

I have been playing this game since launch, every day. I am a notorious game hopper among my friends and they are shocked that i've stuck with one game for over 3 months now. It's because this game is just that good. 

As for hackers. People always claim that hackers will destroy a game. This is true to some extent but its always over exaggerated. Games like Rust and other FPS are rife with hackers and you don't see Rust collapsing. Yes BDO is a different game.. but I guarantee you the average player has never seen a hacker, let alone been impacted by one. The auction house bots are annoying yes but it is not game breaking.

TL;DR  This game is great, and its only getting better.

Daum was always giving out permanent bans for hacking.  It's just that apparently it was pretty easy to appeal and get your account unbanned.

The same thing will happen with these ban waves unless they change the review process.  We do want there to be a review process, especially if they're going to do ban waves off an automated process.  But we also want it not to allow actual hackers to get their accounts back.

In a B2P game why waver on bans when you can ban people permanently and not risk subs. They should ban them permanently and be really strict about it.

So wait, first they said: "that player has never been banned" "that player was never reported" "players are permanently banned" straight up denying they were reversing the derision to ban, now they admit they lied about players returning? What just happened? Did it really take MMORPG.com doing a freakin article to make them get their heads on straight?

Because you have to error on the side of caution if there's any possibility of a mistake being made as these are paying customers with rights to the product they paid for.

Daum is caught in one lie after another.
They also said crowns are not in the game yet and will have to be worked on.

Too bad KR and RU has had them for a while already.

Seems to me BDO team are very responsive to community sugestions and fast implementing new stuff.

I was used to the "modus operandi" of Diablo 3 team and its a huge diference, has anyone who played Diablo3 can  testify.

Eh, this is just retarded.  Hacking on a guest pass with the name OSG.  This hacking thing has officially reached internet meme level.

Think I'm just going to play the game and ignore the forums for awhile.  Game is amazing.  All this shit is just stupid and it's getting dumber by the day.

Why i appear and disappear from forums, and especially stay clear of official game forums.

Back when i played EQ2 and SWG exclusively for years i never used forums, back then i always thought they were used only for people with problems. (little did i know how correct i was) /little jab there lol

Seriously i did not go to forums (the game ran fine) and neither did the people i played everyday with for years ( that i ever was aware of). I guess late 2008/2009 when the game started to take on dramatic wow similarities, i started to go to these "forum" things and OMG the persistent, consistent unhappiness.

Turns out it wasn't something because of what was happening but... it's the way its always been.

Sometimes i wonder if those years i thoroughly enjoyed those two games like I've never enjoyed mmo's before was because my enjoyment wasn't steadily polluted by unhealthy minds during forum visits.

Just make sure you turn off all chat but [System] in game it's what I had to do to not be annoyed while I played xD.
