Ya I can't watch or play like that. To jarring, I couldn't even see half of what was going on.

The jumping made it infinitely worse. I got about 3 minutes into the actual feed and cut it off. If this kind of gimmicky idiocy has provided her with an excellent win rate, good for her, I guess. But I wouldn't be caught dead doing it myself.

You are joking right? you never played quake arena? or UT? Jumping like monkey, constantly moving while keeping steady aim, that is the playstyle of a true fps pro.

She can thank all of those female "gamers" on twitch who make everyone think women are bad at video games. You know the ones that show off there chest/cleavage and jump up and down to get viewers. While skilled gamers are trying to prove their worth.

    She got some skills!

I watched the first four matches on this video and I can say two things.

First, she has the arc of the gravity gun down pat.  She can arc a shot into an opponent at nearly any range, and guess their movement very well.  Her aim, reaction time and map awareness is absolutely MLG level. She's an insanely talented player.

Second, she falls into the trap of "I only play x character" when it's clear and obvious during two matches that she, specifically, was being countered by the enemy team.  She should be able to see this and choose a character that counters the counter.

Overwatch isn't about maining your favorite character.  I mean, that has a lot to do with it, we all have favorites, but when you're an awesome Torbjorn and the enemy team is 5 Pharahs and a Mercy, then you probably ought to swap out.  No, correction, you should swap out.  When she was specifically countered, the other team won.  She's so damn good that if she could swap out, then I bet her W/R would be closer to 90%.

Only reason you bunny hop is because you'll take more body shots than head shots. Helps prevent some of the sniper-type classes from ganking you immediately, but otherwise mostly just makes you look silly.

Perhaps it's more useful in Overwatch since the hit-reg for your body and head are notably larger than the character models, but in the same token it's a strategy that technically doesn't add all that much to your skill or survival if you're matched against anyone that's smart enough to aim slightly higher than normal.

But that banks on the competition showing intelligence.

Maybe bunny hopping is done to keep the blood pumping to the fingers.  If the human body holds still too long, it might react more slowly than one that has been actively doing things when the action finally starts.  At least, that's my own personal experience though I haven't looked into the science of the matter.

If that were the case there'd be considerably greater medical problems involving one's hands. Blood circulates to them whether or not you're using them, otherwise they'd fatigue, suffocate, the cells would die, and they'd no longer work at all.

Additionally, your fingers are dominantly in use of white muscle ligaments. The reaction speed for them do not decline in any expedient fashion. The far and away primary factor for any such condition would be one's own mental reaction time, nothing to do with the hands themselves.

IE, if you are not focused in any manner on using your hands, the mental reaction to responding with a specific action could be delayed.

Also just watched the video finally and I gotta say I was actually kinda disappointed. :\

This isn't an "I could do better" statement (I frequently play Mercy, Widow, or D.Va, I'd get stomped as Zarya >_>), but more so that people are taking away a lot of strange and very misplaced assumptions and opinion inserts as opposed to what was actually shown. Most her mortar shots never even got the hit reg, and a bulk of her damage was done in short range bouts (which is normal for Zarya).

I'd honestly say a majority of disappointment came from watching the competition not just of her, but of the players as a whole. There was a lot of what seemed to be headless chicken moments for the enemies and even her team, where players had no clear line for their conflict and were spazzing out about their directions and tactics. Under that kind of circumstance playing a character like Zarya has great advantage because her ability to CC and tank mitigates most of the threat.

This is also why a change in strategy to counter Zarya proves effective. Even without changing characters, if the strategy on her team's side had shifted to Zarya on support and tanking for specific targets, the problem of Zarya being countered would have been minimized by the rest of her team being able to more aggressively clamp down on the enemy.

In other words, team dynamics were pretty sub-standard and a lot of the success/failure seemed to bank on who was the best suited to chicken wrangling.

Seriously though, these games need stamina bars where jumping depletes them.

I tend to find this argument more than a tad disingenuous, to be honest.

Many of the better known male streamers and Youtubers I can think of are anything but good at video games, yet somehow that doesn't translate to guys being bad at gaming. TB can be downright painful to watch. AngryJoe often isn't much better. Yahtzee is a bit better (though I think Gabe is probably the better gamer of the two), but only average at best.

Gaming ability rarely seems to play much of a factor into who is popular on Youtube or Twitch. Among the guys I'm sure it's no accident that there's a preponderance of deep British-accented voices way out of proportion to their overall percentage of the gaming population and anyone who thinks PewDiePie's success is about his skill with a keyboard and not his looks really needs to wake up and smell the sub numbers.

Guys automatically assuming a female "gamer" (love the scare quotes) is bad has jack squat to do with Twitch, especially as it's mostly guys who made those pathetic T&A shows popular whilst wholly ignoring the many female streamers who actually are good at games.

I don't think this had anything to do with gender, but rather an 80% win rate. That's suspicious in any online competitive game.

Jumping should spread your reticle and decrease momentum. Thought all fps devs understood this but apparently Blizzard didn't check last century's memos.

That is a team match, how does a team match prove anything at all?Plus the game uses radar which has always been considered by purists as a super dumb mechanic to have in game.
Besides that all i saw was what i see typically in all pvp games now a days >>>>tons of spamming. Also being locked into ONE weapon is again weak, overall a poorly designed pvp game for any purist and that is why i never got into it,it is just not a good enough game.

80% win rate cheating issue with implied misogynistic click bait title. Super. Well, regardless, glad she cleared things up and the accusing parties backed down after being proven wrong, and faced the consequences

And once again, gender is brought front and center despite the fact that it never had anything to do with this story in the first place.

If the accused were a male gamer, would his gender have been part of the headline? I'm guessing not. In fact, it probably wouldn't even be specifically mentioned anywhere in the article, merely inferred through the use of gender-specific pronouns. Which is how it should be, but nope! Suzy just has to point out the poor gamer girl being picked on by those mean, vicious closet Gamergate supporting men! It can't be because they genuinely thought she was cheating, no! It's because she's a girl! That's it! Men are evil! EVIL!!

    Gimmicky idiocy?

You realise that she is predicting the opponents shot placement and that nearly every movement she makes is a result of those predictions, right? Her ability to read tells from an opponent is top notch.

You don't get an 80% win rate by being good at bunny hopping. Anyone with even a modicum of experience in the competitive first person shooting scene would be blissfully aware of this fact.

Probably a good idea to better educate yourself before you chime in on this subject again, as it's blatantly obvious that you're not very well informed.

She was bouncing around like a kangaroo on crack even when nobody was shooting at her. Probably a good idea to get your eyes checked before you chime in on this subject again, as it's blatantly obvious that you're incapable of actually seeing the video.

She's obviously very skilled, but let's call a spade a spade here. Disagreeing is fine, but acting like a condescending jackass about it is uncalled for.

You do know that she used jumping as a way to changes where the lobbed shots hit right?

Was she doing that when she wasn't even shooting, too? When there was no one in the room to even aim at?

What a pro. Launching invisible salvos at nonexistent enemies. That certainly explains the win rate...

Honestly, if it WAS a male, it most likely wouldn't be news.  But good to see such an amazing player.  She really is great at predicting movements.

    Enjoyed the video.

    Are you serious?

The poster I quoted initially attacked the player in question immediately, to which I responded by calling out that posters obvious lack of experience with the genre and it's professional scene (point being, you shouldn't be bashing someone else when your own knowledge of what is considered normal and what is not is severely lacking).

Then you proceed to quote me, insult my ability to use my eyes, followed by yet another snide remark and concluding by calling me a condescending jackass.

    Well played...

I was right, you and the other poster are wrong. Nothing you or anyone else has to say is going to change that fact or make the previously stated facts any less accurate. Your thinly veiled attempt at saving face by stating "she is obviously very skilled" after making the previous remarks is beyond absurd and extremely transparent.

I'm sorry that some part of a young korean woman being better than you at a game makes you salty, but there is no reason to be rude about it. Keep your chin up, eh?

First I laughed because now we have so called Pro's. Which basically means somebody who jumps around like an over medicated caffeine injected psycho, and probably lives in an under developed Asian country. I gave it some thought and realized this was stupid and cracked open a beer 'Burped' then wrote this and watched Fox News and realized I hate Politics and then felt like playing minecraft.

    Cheers...

The same kind of pud who actually believes there is a future in gaming.

Probably because professional female gamers are rare.  Lets see some professional gamers who actually win money at what they do.

I thought she was predicting too.  You know how people are they like to slight things they cannot do because they are jealous. So best to just put her down instead, typical.

Since I watch so much Korean dramas I could understand some of what she said and that was fun for me to watch and listen.

Yes, yes, that must be it: I'm butthurt over a game I've never played, in a genre that I haven't touched in three years. You've definitely got me pegged.

She was bouncing around like a kangaroo on crack even when nobody was shooting at her.

Yup, there are multiple times even in the first 10 minutes of that video where she and her team are just standing around waiting for enemies and she's still doing a bad impression of Disney's Tigger. But, hey, I suppose that's just her force sensitivity kicking in - this girl is so powerful in the dark side that she can predict where those shots fall 2 minutes in advance, and there's nothing like getting your routine down before the shooting actually starts.

Yup. I'm all bent up like a pretzel over people I don't know from the other side of the planet playing a game I have no interest in.
  • filmoretfilmoret Member EpicPosts: 4,906
Did anyone else notice the tank with the shield is playing with her?  Which would be a very good reason her win rate is so high she is playing with someone who supports her.
