July 1st marked the end of service for 13 year old Planetside. Our own Steven Messner was on hand in Planetside's final moments with everyone literally going out with a bang. Check out the video below to see how it all went down.

This is fighting talk! Outside you two, square of, three rounds consisting of who dies first in PS2, Dark Souls (random number) and BF (random number)
Nothing wrong with being hardcore but you also abide by the same laws of physics and only have 24 hours in a day.
So between work and family I barely find time for 1 game here and there I think someone has discovered how to manipulate time and not telling
I wasn't on for the final moments, but I played for a while that last day. There were some really fun fights going on on Ishundar.
I don't know if it was planned or not, but those 3 bases: Girru, Hanish and Irkalla were perfect.
Maybe psforever will work out...
High five for sling shotting ANTs across the maps!
Hail to the BoB-J Outfit. Good times. One of my favourite games, and most played with well over 5000 hours of game play across 9 years.

i was so devastated when Vanguard was announced they would be closing down, i know how these guys feel!
So What Now?
Now would be a good time for a Norrath game that *is* similar to EQ1, as the market is over saturated with theme parks and action MMORPG but obviously that is not going to happen. Maybe if SoE didnt try to be innovative with EQN and instead made EQ 2.0 then they would still be around.
I am so good, I backstabbed your face!
Take a look at active games have done. Simplified talent trees for example. SWTOR and WOW have done that. WOW has less skills than before. On the Legion test server, some buffs have been removed. Over the years you have heard stories from players who love buffing other characters in game. Highlighted Example: swg entertainers.
The industry is removing variables to make it easier for the devs.

Gone are the days of Healing and Repairing in the tower and CC.
Boy: Why can't I talk to Him?
Mom: We don't talk to Priests.
As if it could exist, without being payed for.
F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.
That and mindlessly clicking through all text and cut scenes to focus on racing to max level ASAP. xD
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

And you can't talk about either game without mentioning the excellent community. The players tend to be cooperative, positive, and overall mature. You can't say that about a lot of MMO's, with the increased focus on PvP in some of the more recent games. Communities cultivated on griefing and bad manners have taken more of a front seat.
