Android: Kitkat vs Lollipop

I'm having a Motorola Moto G 4G, and so far I've been running Kitkat 4.4.4 on it. Pokemon Go worked so-so on the phone (1Gb RAM while I['ve read Pokemon Go requires 2Gb), with lots times that the game hangs itself and numerous crashes back to 'desktop, as well as no real 'multi-taking' on the phone - whenever I dropped the game to the background it just closed.

Today I finally figured out HOW to upgrade the phone's OS to Lollipop. Aside from technical issues and a lot of small patches afterward, the phone now runs Lollipop 5.1. I also need to get used to where things are now and check all settings again...

When walking my dog today (I only upgraded to Lollipop without all those small updates afterward), I noticed that the game ran a lot smoother immediately. The GPS localization worked better (under Kitkat the game dropped me on one spot constantly without reason). Also the multitasking ability of Lollipop is a lot better than Kitkat. I now can drop the game to the background without any problems and take it back to front again without the need to load it all over again. I also noticed that with Lollipop the phone isn't getting as warm (when playing Pokemon Go) as it used to under Kitkat.

One bad thing though, after the walk of over an hour (and having the game running constantly), the touchscreen GUI didn't respond anymore. The GPS locater was still updated, but I could thumb the screen as much as I wanted, the game just didn't respond anymore. This problem did persist for about 5-10 minutes and when I didn't play the game for that period of time and started it again, it'd be running normally again (this might also be the lack of a lot of smaller Lollipop updates that I did later on).

While Pokemon Go is said to need Android Kitkat 4.4.1 minimum, I think that it runs better under Lollipop. It might also have something to do with my phone 'only' having 1Gb of memory, while with 2Gb it might run smooth on Kitkat.
