I started with the bulletin boards, before Aol. Then moved up to Ulitma online, then when EQ came out I switched to that, then i entered late high school and I don't remember what happened for like 5 more years;) Then I remember playing SWG, then Dungeons and dragons online.
Oh god Not 'American Off Line.' I'm trying to remember my first internet connection. I think it was from my local Newspaper Press Enterprise. I remember my first modem and the dialing sound I thought it was so epic.
first one i tried was either mankind or EQ in a cybercafe in 99 because the family computer was a glorified trashcan back then. first one i really played was phantasy star online on dreamcast (if it counts as an mmorpg, it was more like guild wars 1, a cooperative lobby based rpg), had to work for an entire summer to repay my parents because the phone bill was deemed unreasonable (but it was worth it ! i loved that game) otherwise it would be lineage 2 from beta until ~interlude and then on and off until now
