I really wanted this game to have Multiplayer, but I just got back into Starbound and it's been a blast. I am sure I will buy NMS but hopefully I can wait for it to go on sale.
I run the Mature Minded Gamers. We do video and board gaming videos and reviews. We also have a big Dungeons and Dragons community with multiple games active each week.

The delay of the PC version is only going to hurt them. Rather than take the chance and get the game on launch day, the fence-sitters can now just get a look at the PS4 version. If it isn't everything they wanted, or if that launch is problematic, they'll lose sales.

We're not even getting review copies (no one is), which says "hmmm" but, I'm still hopeful. I'll buy it if word is good. EDIT: Forgot to add I'm glad it's 3 days later on PC. Makes it better for us who want to wait.
They didn't send out review copies for DOOM either, but that game was freaking amazing. Well, single player at least. In fact, I think I'll go play for a bit.

People are going to be disappointed, but that's expected of shallow sandbox games. No press reviews, no open beta, and a $59.99 price tag? Sounds like a quick cash grab to be honest.

edit: changed "scam" to "cash grab".
Did you read day 1 patch? if not get the f word out of here sir ! Don't read the patch notes but comment and post your lackluster point of view
What about them?  It didn't invalidate my opinion of shallow sandbox games.  Without goals, or proper tools for the community, it's basically a glorified survival game, such as Day-Z.  What this game needed was a conquest/RvR gametype.  I don't know if guilds/clans can be made in-game, but it would go a long way to building a community, and giving incentive to stick around.
Translation: I want to be able to kill people for no reason. Any game which doesn't let me do that is 'shallow'.

I think you need to put your brain back into the enrichment chamber for awhile, but that's just me.
Sorry for your confusion, but he nailed it.  There is no purpose to the game.  Sure you can do all these wonderful things, but why?  No one else can see what you build.  When you leave a world it all goes poof.

And if you are going to tell me the purpose is to get to the center, then excuse me because I and many others just do not see the point of that.

If you make an exploration game, give it some purpose, like the old Starflight game.  It is like they wrote half a game and stopped.  And calling this a multiplayer game is a real stretch.

If you still insist on getting this game, go in with the expectations that you time in game will be short lived.  You will be bored within a week or two.

It is always possible that they will eventually add some kind of purpose to this game, but I would not hold your breath.

It is just as he said a shallow sandbox game which is rather a shame, they could have done so much more with it.

There is no confusion.  Observer is right.  There is always that small percentage in the MMO player demographic who see no purpose for a game unless they are killing others.  And unless the game allows for them to inflict pain on others they are not happy and are quick to label a game as worthless and having no purpose.  The below few provided bullet points offered in the article give us a pretty good indication regarding the game's challenges as they pertain to player conflict and it seems to have addressed that area quite well.

    • Survival – recharging hazard protection requires rare resources, making shielding shards useful again. Storms can be deadly. Hazard protection and suit upgrades have been added. Liquids are often more dangerous
    • Combat – Auto Aim and weapon aim has been completely rewritten to feel more gentle in general, but stickier when you need it. Sentinels now alert each other, if they haven’t been dealt with quickly. Quad and Walker AI is now much more challenging, even I struggle with them without a powered up weapon.
    • Space Combat – advanced techniques have been introduced, like brake drifting and critical hits. Bounty missions and larger battles now occur. Pirate frequency has been increased, as well as difficulty depending on your cargo.
No Man's Sky is a space exploration survival game.  It's not supposed to be about PvP gankfest type game play.   That said, it does allow for multiplayer aspects that allow for player hunting but due to the massiveness of the universe its not something that will happen often.  Which is a good thing because it will prevent the game from devolving into just another mindless gankfest of a game that eventually ends up rendering all other content in the game irrelevant like so many other failed game releases with that type game play.

The failed history of those type of games are well documented yet there is always that minority that continue to clamor for it.  The game offers so much more with what it does provide?  There is no need for every game to be ruined with that type of game play.

Game looks vast yet so empty at the same time. Will definitely wait for the reviews before dropping near on £40. I see someone mentioned Spore. Wasn't that supposed to be something like this, and look what happened to that? A very disappointing game. Just hope I'm going to be proved wrong.

Love that a bunch of people who have not played the game are raving on about how shit it is.

I salute you, Internet gaming experts :-)

Because past decades of gaming experience doesn't mean anything right?

Why did you have to bring up that great game series???  It makes me sad when I think about those two games when I compare them to the crap that gets put out today.  If I could just forget about those great games from the 90's I would be much happier with the stuff that passes for games today.

This game will get boring after everyone stops gushing over the graphics. A game made to upgrade that PC. So that plus the cost of the game will really have alot of fanboys no matter what.
