I remember seeing this on Kickstarter. I really loved the idea of semi-persistence.
Those following the project, could you tell me how it has been going in terms of progress? Does the project seem to be on track? Is there regular updates and additions?
Do people have an optimistic outlook, or is there some controversy swirling around?

5 of the classes are already playable, and sixth should be coming very soon.
They are a bit late from their original Kickstarter estimates, but so far they've been able to release new stuff at a good pace and the game is doing well.
CU doesn't have this issue, as they are using a home grown engine made to handle massive numbers of players at once. On the flip side of that, the graphics in CU look a little more dated than CF. Not horrible, but not as crisp and new. Also CU has a smaller dev team, so their dev tempo is a bit slower.
But both games are shaping up to be a great success.
You ask if optimistic?Well of course tons are optimistic of every single game ever released and tons are not,so depends who you ask.It also depends on what your expectations of the game are and so far ,i feel MOST do not really know what the game is all about.
I feel it will be as expected fro ma budget operation,a game with players "of course"likely few assets, not much content ,mostly relying on player to player interaction for the content.
Sooo from MY perspective,i am not optimistic since i require a much more in depth game, although crafting alone sounds like it could be decent. However one or two aspects are not enough, but we still have another year to sit back see what they can achieve.
