Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.

To put it in perspective,we have this site and others were praising total trash like TROVE,a game i wouldn't be caught dead playing, not worth a 1/10 imo.No this game "Divergence" is not great by any stretch but imo far better done with such few man hours and cash than what other bigger studios have come close to doing.

Imagine if this guy had Chris's 120+ million to play with, geesh i could go in blind folded and build an amazing game from 120 million, yet people keep tossing money at the guy,go figure. What did Ethan have a few hundred thousand to work with?
You're kidding me right? You're aware this isn't the guy's first time pulling this stunt, aren't you?

Gluing together a load of "stock" assets to form a game, is indeed considerably harder than many people expect. And stock assets in many cases are plenty cross engine compatible (or at worst case their source data is, so the seller can easily offer them for multiple engines). While you probably can't get away outsourcing / buying in assets for all your game it can be done extremely well (see Lost Soul Aside).

I think Divergence Online is actually not bad at all from a technical perspective, shipping even a minimum viable product puts them way about the norm. Although the author having plenty of time to insult customers / commenters and not enough time to fix major problems highlights the greater issues.

Anyone else getting Derek Smart style deja vu?

I reserve judgement until @Slapshot1188 has thoroughly investigated and reported his findings.

Sorry.  This one's not on my radar.

If you think shipping a MVP after 8 YEARS of development is a technical feat, then there's no hope, lol

Be carefull here folks...what makes you think he'll finish this one, last one was barely playable. like he says "tuff shit" if you don't like it. He even removed me from FB group and steam perma ban because I was upset and said so. His email said he didn't get paid enough to put up with abuse lol .. this guy is so un professional, and totally lacking in game development skills, this one will probably fail shortly after new steam sales stop coming in pretty much like last one, because game is half assed redo of fallen earth ...not sure why he isn't calling it "Fallen Earth 2.0", like it's predecessor "SWG 2.0" ....like I said, get this at your own risk, and personal monetary loss.

quote from green light page by Hardhex " Making this prequel was more of a choice of the players of Divergence: Online than it was our choice - About half Divergence: Online's players didn't want the modern "survival" aspect in that game, so we removed it and gave it it's own standalone game so that Divergence: Online players don't have to deal with hunger/thirst/etc if they don't want to."

total bull...no one was asked if they wanted it, in fact, when you tried to put it in game, a lot of dissenting voices said it didn't fit...so Ethan wanted to do this because he wants more money, and so this is the outcome of HIS want, not the game community.

and I'm not sure where the hunger/thirst/etc comes from, Divegence Online people don't have avartar effects ..not even fall damage yet...so again....wtf

and as for warning Steam, I did ....went through customer support and filed an issue.

Science fiction isn't selling, so let's make a game for an actual niche genre that tends to be met with all the enthusiasm of a schoolbus fire. Genius, Ethan. Genius.

We need federal regulation in this industry so bad. Need to start sticking the con artists and criminals in prison to make some examples before this crap gets even worse.
