I don't think Bioware has ever lost its ability to entertain. The problem with SWTOR is that it only entertains you for short bursts and then it is a waiting game until the next burst of story. SWTOR just needs more group orientated content instead of just story although it is good in its own right.

imo, what that game really needed, was REAL force users.

I'm glad you're finding some entertainment value in SWTOR. Unfortunately for me, I find none. Not even in short bursts. Too many time sinks, not enough fun. Or rather, the time sinks aren't fun. And the story telling is meh.

I'm not sure Bioware actually exists anymore. It's just a shell of it's former self, residual matter, a ghost, mythic, existing only in myth. Unfortunately, I would expect just more of the same from EA.

The only thing that I was enjoying at the end, was the pvp but the devs don't even know they have pvp in their game. I did play the first chapters of KOFTE but frankly I thougth the story was pretty bad. Definitely not the Bioware that I once loved.

What the game needs is difficulty. The whole thing, from beginning to end-game is way too easy. But I guess it would be if you had an entire galaxy populated with an absurd number of force-users.

they really need to add more mmo elements.

I am still waiting for mini games

would be ncie to have more races, and more classes, and even large pvp battle grounds, but i think due to VO's or their engine they can not afford that.

Which means something like mini games makes sense for swtor, or its jsut going to be more story.

and i think they mentioned their mmo engine can not handle somehting like raciing, or swoop racing.

So their game is really going to end up being more of the same which sounds like its a shame really since its suppose to be an MMO, but i guess if they add enough raiding they will do good by a lot of people. So at least they add more story and raids.

I did sub and go back for the first episode which I enjoyed, I then decided it was better to wait for it to be finished so I could just play it all through on my main and alts, I am still unable to force myself to go back because I really hate that dam cash shop.........

Id prefer to have the option in the options of no cash shop displayed what so ever if you sub, it really does put me off the game that much i get my star wars fix in swgemu.

I was pretty disappointed with WoW's expansion so I dusted off my Sub for SWToR. I went back there about three weeks ago and have really enjoyed it so far. I'm on the Shadowlands server and there's not many folks on that I can see. Most instances at the fleet or planets are around 50 people. I haven't seen a 2nd instanced map on any planets...but I've had great fun so far. All the people who twinked out and min/maxed their toons have moved on to greener pastures. The PvP matches pop pretty frequently and are a lot of fun. I win about as many as I lose. No feeling of hopelessness due to going against any premades. I've not seen one premade in 3 weeks. Even Starfighter pops frequently and again, no premades. The matches are fun and are really close most times. I'm hoping that the changes in 5.0 (the expansion) are good ones. So far, I am enjoying myself and am hoping all the crowds stay in WoW as long as possible.

Ahh! So true. It wasn't always this easy. I remember when the story was engaging in such a way that you had to ask for tactics for certain boss encounters. But then...The dreaded companion patch arrived that changed everything. It buffed and changed companions in such a way that they lost their identity game-play wise and made every solo content a cakewalk. You can literally stand still and do nothing with 5-6 mobs surrounding you and remain with full Health. Furthermore, companions are all the same as stated in this article. They don't have specifics combat traits as every single one of them is just a copy-pasta in efficiency so none of them stand out at all.

One patch that just took so much away! I hated it from the beginning but I got shut down by people telling me "It's to emphasize story so people don't need to focus on gameplay as much." PEOPLE It's a bloody VIDEO GAME and people kept crying out that they didn't want to play a game. This is the world we live in...

Anyways I agree with you completely. Some people say "Why not just remove your companion, you can do that." but it's a dumb approach because I could just as well remove all my armor and weapons then just proceed to fist-fight every Jedi I see but thing is it won't be the same. The game is set around having companions and I enjoy them for what they are but I just don't agree that they should arguably be more powerful than the protagonist (which is you). Trust me I've dueled plenty of people and without PvP gear it is the companion that outshines them, every time. Especially at low-lvl.

Here is hoping it will get changed eventually!

I dont know what it is about this game that makes me unsub all the time. Every 6 months I get the urge to pull out my Trooper and tank the crap out of stuff but after a month the urge goes away and I unsub. I love the stories, they kept me hanging on long after I would normally stop playing. I'm ok with the cash shop and dont feel it is P2W. I am ok with the combat and I can live with the companions. Truthfully I enjoy the companions more now that I can use the one I want in the way I want it. It just gets old for me after a few weeks.

To go ahead and admit it's not really supposed to be Star Wars.
Of course that would jeopardize their ability to automatically extract cash from the coattails of Lucasfilm, but it would be a move that would result in good karma for a game that still carries a net negative because of the potential it failed to achieve. Every time you play this game to the mid range it slaps you in the groin with it's utter failure to even approximate a Star Wars feel. I have seen kids on a playground do better than the writers at Bioware.

In addition, the theme park reaches its simplified apex in this game, which not only removes all rpg details (abilities, damage types, etc.), but also removes a great deal of choice as to what your character is (hint: your character is the hero of the universe in one of 8 static flavors).

It may seem to some that they diverged too much with their What If Empire, but I would say that they were already so far from being Star Wars that it was probably a much easier move than trying to fix what they had broken in original development.

Playing through the exact same story once or twice was it for me. I miss the good old days when each class had a mostly different story line which made it worth leveling through content just to enjoy the stories. It would have took longer to do this now but replayability would have been longer as well.

I enjoyed SWTOR, but I found that I only liked doing the pvp arenas. The story was ok, but much too linear for my taste. Also, the npc were too wooden in movement and speech.

They need to add a game worth playing.

Unfortunately all their efforts are to milk sw/kotor fans dry.

I never really get the "Star Wars" feeling when playing this game. It's just too cartoony and zones are usually just large mazes.

Star Wars is epic, and SWTOR does not depict that epicness at all. No huge ships, no space, and no large-scale awesome fights. Why even call it a Star Wars MMO?

Honestly if we're making a list of everything SWTOR needs/needs to do better it would include literally everything besides single player story. The list would go on for several pages. I was one of the hopefuls in this game's Beta, but for the 5th game in a row Bioware just disappoints.

It's a Star Wars game with decent solo story, nothing else even the companion stories have been neglected since launch. I'll pay $15 once every expansion, experience the story, then leave because this is the only continuation of the Kotor universe.

This game needs stuff to do that isn't spoon fed story mode. It completely lacks any system that brings the community together. It needs a sprinkling of some Sandbox elements. SWG blows SWTOR out of the water when it comes to a living breathing world.

I don't think I've ever subbed to this game and if I want to sub in order to do dungeons I'll just sub to WOW.

I may check it out if the first expansion or two are now free to non subs. If not I probably won't bother.

Would like to see the game offer a 64-bit client.
    - No excuses.
    - The companies involved in supporting this game are large enough to make this happen.

Would like to see some love for PvP.
    - A lot of love for PvP, actually.

Would like to see space-combat receive some work.
    - Crew based space combat would be great.
-- by Crew, I mean ... me and some friends, not me and the NPC/companions.

    Better gear/itemization system.
    - While there have been improvements over the last year+, I'd love to see a 'legit' 'heirloom' system

Aside from the items they can put in the game, I expect to see more/stronger marketing for this game around the release of the upcoming movies. Why wouldn't they try to plug the game? Is there another SW based MMO in the works (if so, would love some legit references/citations)?

Hopfully there is a new Star Wars mmo in the making ;) Personally I would prefere fighting for The First Order(at the time of or after the force awakens). I'm aware that many fanboiiz(especially previous SWG fans) doesnt like that idea xD
So yeah, would be cool if anyone knew anything about a new mmo?!

Oh and the only thing that make me come back to SWTOR once and awhile is the RP. I never do pvp anymore or anything else for that matter(besides Roleplay).
And all the cool gear you can have in the game is via CartelMarket packs and all the cool stuff you want from CM packs are waaaay to priced on the GTN. It's like they set the droprate that low just to encourage people to buy from goldseller(and buy more packs ofc;) ). I mean who can farm 68mil(cheapest I've seen, normally around 80-90mil) credits for that vented lightsaber without putting real Money into it?

Since a warhammer 40k mmo wont happen anytime soon(or at all?) I will give my last hopes to a new SW mmo for my sci-fi needs :3

They made all companions the same?!? Ughh, the best part about the game was the companions. I will never be returning if that is the case.
