If the question was "does character creation mean anything you?" I would have said "yes". I don't create a character to get someone's rocks off; only creeps do that. I do like my character to look a certain way, but it's not so that other players will chat me up (or be attracted to my character).

I've been playing female characters lately- the opposite sex is me, so yeah I make them attractive.  Gives me something nice to look at while I'm grinding away for hours on end.

It's a little weird when you can tell other guys are eyeing me up, but kind of funny too.

I just make characters that I think are interesting/to attractive. Not to the opposite sex, not so someone can fantasize, just characters that I think are compelling.

I think I agree with Sovrath, if I understand his post.

I make characters that are attractive or for males, cool looking to me. If I make a male, I try to make an Indiana Jones kinda adventure look if possible. I try to make males look like they are on an expedition into a new world, since I LOVE exploring. So I make males a really cool adventure-style look, or a pirate look is always cool too.

Females...well...these two are Skyrim screenshots, but this is how I make females :pleased:

I don't care what anyone else thinks of my character. If I think she looks pretty or my male character looks cool or bad ass, that is good enough for me.

Something I never thought about while making a character.

I did read someone comment they prefer to make female characters because they get more help from other players.

    I just don't want to look at a guy's butt .

I always create male in first person view game , because , what's a point to use female model in first person view ? for other guy look at ? no no that's just wrong . I never use female character in Skyrim , all is male only , cause they are many mod that add and change female nPC

any game that have third person view and i can see the model then female gogo .

Well in WoW, female characters get free items, gold and are treated a lot nicer. You can even tell the guy/boy you are a guy, and he will still treat you like a female and give you stuff. I never even pretended I was a female, I always said I was a guy but liked looking at blood elf female butts more than males (though male forsaken/undead are awesome, same with Worgen). But still got free stuff, and even though I kinda sucked at raids, they treated me nicer than the "male" characters that sucked at raids (even though one of the male characters was actually female, which was funny)

I create my character to appeal to me.  Does this also result in appeal to the opposite sex?  I believe it does, though this is not my goal or intent.  How often do we see non-appealing character design choices.  In SWG, I saw a Fat 'toon dancing on the front porch of his house.  Possibly training to unlock Jedi.  Also in SwTOR, character design included both a diminutive, and obese stock body types.  I believe this is unusual for game design.

Back in 2005, I had a guild mate comment on the attractiveness of my 'toon.  And this was in SWG, a relatively low poly game.  Image Designers were always inviting people, to help them train.  In reality, this was to alter their height (make them shorter) and make their butts bigger.  Tip number one, if you care what your avatar looks like, never train with an ID.  If you don't have your own.

Even in games with limited character customization I choose what I enjoy or prefer.  I chose from hair colour, hair style, face, skin colour, and voice tone.  Don't we all?  Or do most people just hit random, and live with it?  Maybe we need less choice in character customization?

F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
    Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play.  Therefore P2W.

Normally I create characters that are closer to me in real life, older, with a wisened look, but with more hair (gray or white of course) and an ideal BMI. ;)

Why should I care what others think how my character looks?

I make them however I want them to.

In dragon's dogma I made my character and my female pawn look like goblins because they looked cool (And hilarious in cutscenes) to me.

Usually when I see a "cute" female character in an MMO I automatically assume it's some 40+ year old dude sitting in his boxers surrounded by pizza boxes.  As for my own character's looks, I usually try to mirror what I look like for some odd reason which of course is a ripped bad ass that all of the ladies swoon after ;)  j/k  ..... or am I ?

Depends on what I am going for with the character, some are attractive, others are not. My
GW2 engineer/guildchef is based on the Swedish chef (as a Charr), I don't think anyone would think him attractive. He makes an awesome wurm stew though.

I did have a female dark elf Dirge in EQ2 that was very attractive in a creepy way, she was named "Razorbliss" and people who checked her background story had some comments but she always dressed in a sexy gothic fashion style...

I like to play characters with a specific personality and how they look and act mirrors that. I do think it sucks that most MMOs only let you play younger characters though, I want my wizards to be old men with beards.

When i create characters i tend to go for themes, whether they end up being attractive or 'ugly' is pretty much irrelevant.
