The 2016 Game Awards is going to set a new standard for digitally broadcast events when it goes live on December 1st. Viewers will be able to check out the "Oscars of Gaming" via a first-ever live broadcast on Twitter, through a first-time simulcast in China, and even via virtual reality, the first event of its type.

    So, as with the Oscars, will this also be people from within the industry kissing each other's asses for a few hours? "Oh, this developer is so great because they... Well, they're really rich. What else? Umm, well their games are expensive..." I'm likely jaded by the ridiculous amount of awards shows and the seemingly arbitrary assignment of said awards. But maybe someone out there will appreciate it. It just sounds utterly pointless to me.

    Let's just get a bunch of rich people in a room and tell them how great they are. Sounds WONDERFUL...
