Well first...it's not a MMORPG, so General Gaming would have been the place for this post. Secondly, I kind of got the impression that it was going to be more story driven rather than open world (although I couldn't get through Gamespot's captchas to read that article). And it also sounds like it has just started development. So from my point of view, there's really not much to talk about yet. But I'll certainly check back on this game in 3 years or whatever.
Nothing to really talk about that hasn't been discussed. There are 4 Star wars games in development right now, one that hasn't even been announced yet at all and is still in the shadows. Hopefully this next year everyone will get to learn more about it.
EA stopped with the over-hyping of Star Wars titles because the fans are really passionate and tend to drive the hype train faster than intended; so now they just remain tight lipped.
In my history with EA games, I've found that 99% of their games are massively disappointing. They all have potential but all fall massively short of what they could be, leaving me with a bad experience and little desire to play on.
The only exception I can think of from the last decade was the Skate series. EA actually took a chance with a new type of skateboarding game and it kicked ass and each iteration made it better. Admittedly, 2 and 3 still fell short of what they could have been (using the same city, limited park creator etc) but they did at least continue to improve upon the core gameplay without screwing it up.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman
game is not even close to launch, I don't see why I would belive what the devs are saying, let the game be out first then see how it goes, do I really need to remember the last time poeple belived on hyped games by the devs?
I have yet to be anything other than disapointed with games based on movies or TV shows
You need to change your perspective:
Star Wars: Tie vs X wing Star Wars: Jedi Knight series Star Wars: Battlefront 1 + 2(not the modern Battlefront)
There are good and bad games based upon everything. The amount of bad games based on outer media(especially movies) is higher than average, true, but I find it more of a correlation than a pattern. Especially those games I mentioned are somewhat noteworthy(to put it mildly, ofc ). Come on, I don't play bad games .
Well if you are a star wars fan you should get right with the fact that the IP is going the way of light experiences, not anything in depth. You will have 4 weapons to choose from, you have the same droid companion, you will always take that ship to Tatooine, and once you have been playing for 10 levels you will get the force ghost talking to you.
This is what the devs and their accountant masters like, so it is what you will get.

MMORPG players are often like Hobbits: They don't like Adventures
Its not my type of game but it is a decent - better than decent even - game. And yes its made by EA who have reacted to the - arguably deserved - negativity of a few years ago.
Companies do change - for better as well as for worse. And we have to give them credit when they do get better or else - guess what - they may simply say "why bother" and just turn out dross.
Recognising and giving credit to "well produced, well tested games that are not rip offs" - even if they are not "your type of game" is crucial to shoring up the dam wall against drudge and mediocity.
Setting up to hype a game thats probably not even being coded yet, how crazy is that? The reason people aren't talking about it, is because its at least 4 years away, and like many games in that stage of development, may get canned and not actually happen.
"Groundbreaking" , "Exciting new venues" , "Exciting development time", "Authentic SW story"...what is this? It sounds like some ad expert had quite a fun time throwing those lines around. Quite frankly, they've the opposite effect on me. I'm pretty certain that it'll be just another game, nowhere near as good as SWTOR 1-50 or JK series. Approx.80% certain.
Because my bullshit detector is tingling, that is why.
Well Amy Hennig is the Creative Director on it. So +10 to story. Jade Raymond is responsible for turning out quality games. Two women in executive positions means there will probably be more quality work getting done and less photocopying of asses.
You can't really say what the game will be like. Concept sounds great. Story should be solid. Only future me knows what it's actually like, though.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
