No OP not hyped about those 4 games you listed because I have no interest in them and know very little about them. Only interested in The Repopulation at the moment.
The acronym MMORPG use to mean Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.

But the acronym MMMORPG now currently means Microscopic Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Kappa.

Over the last 5 years or so I've been pretty disappointed with the MMO scene. Nothing has come out that has managed to capture the magic of EverQuest (the first one) when I played that back in the early 2000's or even early World of Warcraft before the first expansion was released. So I've been ignoring the MMO genre for that time period. But at the moment there are four MMOs in development that I'm really hyped about.

    Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen
    Saga of Lucimia
    Camelot Unchained
    Chronicles of Elyria

I think out of the four Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen and Chronicles of Elyria are the two that I am most hyped about. Either way I have alpha access to both of them so will see as testing progresses which one is my favourite although I'll probably end up playing both.

So anyone else feeling really good about the MMO market at the moment? These games seem so much better than the AAA games that have been released by the big developers / publishers.

Have we really not yet learned to "get hyped" about games that actually launch?

Apparently it's edgy these days to not get hyped by words.....

to be honest, with all teh shitty release's we have had and the much hyped up games being more like complete flops. I have my doubts and am not going to get hopes up on any game till it actually release's and has had at least 4-6 weeks of playtime BEFORE a review should be given.

Lets face it most reviews pre release must be paid to give a good review as when you do get it its a failed piece of crap.

Pantheon and SoL definitely are shaping up nicely so far imo. They definitely wont be the "next big thing" but hopefully they draw enough people to keep them around for a few years.

I'm keeping my eyes on Revelation Online and Bless Online assuming the publishers don't mess them up. I definitely like the systems in place in Revelation (even though My.com didn't translate most of them but me to properly test them) and the world of Bless honestly looks stunning (but tbh I want to make a toon with body tattoos lol surprised more games dont have that in creation).

Looking forward to this exact same thread in 2-3 years when all of these will still be in development (if not canned). I'll be interested when they have actual games to play, if that ever happens.

None of these are even close to finished. You can add every other kickstarter MMO on this list too.

I'm just not able to sustain any amount of hype for a couple years on promises and wishful thinking where they promise the world on a shoestring budget. This is an old song and dance by now.

Any MMORPG at this point has to be exceptional. Average is a death knell. I just don't see that happening.

Since when having emotions towards entertainment has become a bad thing? Why does it have to be rational? Assess the situation then have fun in a controlled yet exciting environment?

So I guess it's not only hip to hate these days, but also lame to hype. We just have to sit in quiet, entertain rational thoughts about what might bestow upon us because we wouldn't want to ruin the ambiance over here at Grandma's place!

I'd say let's get hyped for one of these titles at least god dammit and if it wasn't fun we'd say F it and just stop playing it.

WoW killers, ha. I remember when every game was the next one to beat WoW.

Let's be honest here, there was never going to be a game that would ever top WoW simply because it came in at the right time. MMO's have been in their Autumn years for some time now and the last game that had a chance to reinvigorate the genre, ESO failed because Bethesda decided to let Zenimax do the work while they worked on Fallout 4.

There are only two things that can kill WoW now.

Bad developers and lack of patches.

Unfortunately, Legion has been afflicted with the curse of the Vanilla Diablo 3 team and is actually in quite a horrible state, while the patches are still frequent, that Dev team is so awful they're actually driving players away.

Of course you still get your die hards that'll never accept that WoW is now in the worst place it's been for years, but it'll start to hit home when the sub numbers start to dwindle like they did in WoD after the Nighthold is done.

Honestly the whole, Legendary and Artifact system is a hot mess, they gutted classes way too far and are far too arrogant to accept they screwed up several classes and made it daunting to respec.

It just goes to show, even Blizzard aren't immune from Bad Developers and design decisions, bringing in a team that they should have relegated to the Job Center shows a worrying trend toward an Idiocracy culture and to promote one of the most ignorant, divisive devs I've seen since Jay Wilson speaks volumes about how it looks like Activision is now calling the shots from afar.

A Damn shame really as I wanted to love Legion, just couldn't.

Hopefully the pressure applied from the clamor for Vanilla servers will get them to rethink strategy or at least replace these no hopers with someone that will.
