Well I guess I'm gonna have to finally ignore someone.  I mean you constantly trying to promote Elin who are very sexualized children is really sickening.  Acting like its a good thing for the game to have them.  When its really sick that the game has them in the first place.  And even more sickening that the NA has to censor it because of how extremely sickening it is in Korea.
Are you onto something or just on something?

Hell WoW was hard enough when the Gnomes in vanilla/TBC were using the noggenflogger pots and shrinkray to make them the size of ants.. it was a freaking nightmare and WoW wasn't freeform. WoW eventually normalized the hitboxes though, forgot when that was.
Haha I forgot about drinking those shrink potions in wow.  The ones that turn you into a tiny skeleton are funny.

Another reason why Elin is their most popular class now is probably because most of the people who want to play other races left after being frustrated with how much the Elins got (better smaller hit boxes, range, more exclusive classes) while their own races were forgotten.

Meanwhile, advertising seems to focus primarily around Elin lately from what I've seen (In part because so many new exclusive classes are for Elins but sometimes just for the hElin of it), which means that the vast majority of new players that trickle in to Tera will be the type that like Elins too while those that like other races in MMOs won't play Tera because the marketting touts it as "Elins!"

    Again, it's all a self-fulfilling prophecy/unstable equilibrium/self-perpetuating thing.

It's probably not very good for the overall potential player base Tera could have been having, too, because it's gradually getting more and more niche (Elins!!!) rather than attracting a variety of player tastes.  Still, it's not like there's much left to milk out of such an old game anyways either way, I suppose.
Or... TERA has secured a niche with Elins.  I mean, on mmorpg.com, looking at an Elin is grounds for arrest or execution.  But for some people, they just like them and think they're fun and unique.

If they had replaced Elins with Orcs, would TERA still be around?  I don't know.

I will tell you that playing my Elin sorc and fighting an epic battle against pure evil huge monsters is a very fun and unique MMO experience.

As for milking an old game, the endgame is even more fun than when I played years ago.  Game is old for sure, but the graphics hold up very well and the combat is as sweet as ever..
If the orcs that replace Elins have the same advantage with hit box and range.  I would say that Tera would be advertised as an "Orc" mmo.  You seem to fail to understand that the popularity of this race has little to do with it's identity.  Just like any other game, if there is competition (PVP/PVE) and one race gives an advantage.  Even a small one, the player base will play it for that reason alone.

I said this before and i'll say it again.  Very few players I played with actually liked the race. Being on a PVP server they wanted to take every advantage they could.  Elins provided that and they welcomed them.  If Elins had the same exact hitbox/range as the other races.  It wouldn't be so heavily populated.
My point is that clearly Bluehole considers Elins a boon to TERA.  Would TERA still be around if it was an "Orc" MMO?  I don't know.  Might it have done better?  Maybe in the NA region (still questionable- did NA have room for yet another orc mmo?), but probably not in the Asian region.

I don't think the game is "unstable" because it's centered around Elins, I think it's niche and stable after 5 years in part because it's Elin-focused.

Bottom line is, if you don't like Elins, don't play TERA.  You will see them everywhere.  And it's not going to change.

I would suggest lightening up a bit, though.  I mean, I can't help but laugh at the idea of hardcore pvpers forced to play little girls for a slight edge in pvp, even though they despise it.
If you can't imagine pvpers using a race for a small advantage you must be new to mmos.  Every single mmo i've played that had race abilities/perks that ones that had the best advantage were ubiquituous among the pvpers.  I personally don't care about the small advantage and always play what race I like/prefer.  But go ahead and laugh all you want.  Since you can't seem to see past your own interest in the race.  I laugh at the fact that you think Elins are loved by majority of Tera players.  You clearly don't have your finger on the pulse at all.
I honestly don't even know what you're arguing about at this point.  You think the majority of TERA's playerbase is hardcore PVPers that hate Elins and that's why there's a lot of Elins?

I find that hard to believe.  Most of Elins I see standing around the trade broker using heart emotes on eachother don't strike me as hardcore PVPers that hate Elins.

But ultimately I don't see why it matters or how it has anything at all to do with TERA being easy to get back into if you've been away for awhile.
You claimed everyone who plays elins absolutely loves the race.  I corrected you because you're wrong. I gave you a good example of one of the reasons the race is played a lot.  Not to mention 2 classes are exclusive to it.  It really isn't rocket surgery here to understand that.

Thank you.  This is exactly the point I was trying to get across to him.  But I guess when Elins are your precious there is no convincing you.

No, I said if you think Elins are child pornography and morally wrong, you probably would not have been playing TERA very long.  I still don't think that's a wild assumption...

I explained what I meant by "hate" Elins.  You only have to go a couple posts above yours to see someone that fits that description.

You're talking about a couple hardcore pvpers you know that played Elins for the slight advantage, but don't like them in general.  I'm sure they exist, I think that's funny, and I think it represents a small subset of the playerbase.

We obviously have different experiences in game.  Btw, it wasn't just "a couple" I knew all the top guilds on the server and a lot of their members did this.  It was very common.  I guess we can just agree to disagree :-)

I gave Tera an honest try earlier this year.  I played for a bit then bought one of the boxed copies of the game off Amazon after determining that this would give me the most value in terms of what you get for your money.  But after I'd played for about six weeks .... I just ran out of steam.  The combat is good but I found the questing to be unbearably bland after a while.
My experience was similar the Comabt and Dungeons i enjoyed , the rest , not so much

I played for a year or so, but the endgame enchanting was the final nail in the coffin for me.  I really didn't mind or even care about Elins.  I hate the fact that they have exclusive classes, but that's really it.  The questing was boring, I agree with you.  But once you cap that is no longer a concern.

Oh yeah, you reminded me of the endgame gear enchanting/gear grind.

After finally slogging my way to level cap, waiting hours at times to get groups for dungeons, suddenly I had to just "have" good enough gear for the endgame content. The only way to get that gear was to buy it, so it was back to grinding mobs for cash.

And then having to put up with some fuckwit Elin (for some reason most of the bastards seemed to play Elin) jumping up and down demanding that I be kicked from an instance because my gear score was too low: but the only way to get special upgrades was to do those instances...

Now I remember why I quit! I assume its gotten better since then though.

It may be super easy to get back into, but i find it really hard to get into it in first place.

I could never get used to the lack of animations for sidesteps and backwards movement. The spinning character always moving forward was a major put off for me.

Honestly I have watched anime for years and may be that is why I do not associate this type of characters with real life children. The people who keep equating these two things seem rather strange to me.

Filmoret, they do look like little girls, but just because a little girl shows some skin does not mean that everyone suddenly turns into a sex-crazed maniac.  I mean, maybe you do, and maybe that's the real problem here...

No actually what I'm saying is that when you read manga, manhwa and watch anime these characters are evil or very old sometimes so when you see them after you are more familiar with their art and stories you don't associate them with real people. They are like orcs or trolls, pixies and elves and other mythical beings. I never associate them any more to real people.

I think you cannot understand that and that is the real problem. When you look at the characters you see a child I see something else a being that is what I see. It's not a child to me. You are trying to relate to them and forgetting that even in fantasy elves for instance can look very young but are thousands of years old. Even immortal but somehow its okay when they are elves or pixies that look very young but when it is Eastern art people don't want to understand that and scream ....

I think people who are unfamiliar with the source of these art styles will probably make the same mistake but it does not mean you're right.

Don't see anyone sexualizing trolls or orcs.  Thats really strange when you think about it.  Lets sexualize the race that mostly resembles a small child and yet we won't do that with things that resemble animals or monsters.  For some reason noone wants to see the nasty buttcrack of an orc but they want to see the buttcrack of a race which resembles a small child.

What about elves and pixies ?

The problem is not the art it is lack of understanding and familiarity with another culture.

They resemble teenage girls and grown women in most cases.  But when they are sexualized at least they don't look like little 9 year old girls.

I think you're belabouring under your own prejudices so I cannot relate. I used to read to my son nursery books comic book like that had very old Indian myths that even have baby gods that are quite evil. We Hindus have very nasty gods so I have a different upbringing and exposed to more of this in Asia.

That's an odd thing to say 'when they are sexualized' hmm why do you say that ?

I think this is pointless any way you see things differently forget it this old lady is going to go take a nap.

I think you cannot understand that and that is the real problem. When you look at the characters you see a child I see something else a being that is what I see. It's not a child to me.
    Someones never been to rule34.

What about elves and pixies ?
They resemble teenage girls and grown women in most cases.  But when they are sexualized at least they don't look like little 9 year old girls.
That's an odd thing to say 'when they are sexualized' hmm why do you say that ?

I think this is pointless any way you see things differently forget it this old lady is going to go take a nap.
You don't know what sexualized is?  It means you are creating a desire for sexual activity on purpose.  Notice you can accidentally create that desire just by the way you look.  But you can also do it on purpose.  Here some clear examples.

Nice outfit and very pretty woman.

Here we have the complete opposite and a clear example of sexualization.

Its really not that hard to understand.  Go showing off the belly, boobs, upskirt and you are sexualizing it even if you don't know it.
Are you onto something or just on something?

This is my last post on this because essentially the issue is your perception which includes the way you phrased "when they are sexualized" meaning even elves and pixies can be sexualized in your opinion to look like real life children just not 9 year olds.  That is the problem here not the art.

Filmoret, they do look like little girls, but just because a little girl shows some skin does not mean that everyone suddenly turns into a sex-crazed maniac.  I mean, maybe you do, and maybe that's the real problem here...
They are over sexualized little girl fap fetish. This is a reason to boycot tera.
