League of Legends streaming rights for 300 million dollars

MLB picks up League of Legends streaming rights for the coming 7 years for 300 million dollars. Riot further explained, that eventhough BAMTech is buying the streaming rights, tournaments will still be streamed for free on Twitch and on Youtube and they will not restrict HD streams to subs as they want everyone to enjoy the experience.

This is quite big for Esports. More and more organizations are buying in. Everything soccer teams like Paris Saint Germain and Schalke04 starting their League teams to NBA teams like 76ers investing in the League scene.

The potential is huge. There are more gamers than there are athletes, and the chance for injuries is more slim.

Granted, the injuries would be psychiatric-related, and there is always the potential for death during 'training' like gaming for 72 hours straight and your body going into shock when you suddenly turn off the monitor and start moving your body.

People love a good competition, and as far as FPS goes people REALLY love a good competition. Trash-talking and group reactions "OH YOU GOT @#@%ED" are a real self-serving crowd pleaser.

    Currently Playing:

    Fallout 4 (Xbox One)

    Puzzle Pirates (PC)
    Dreadtooth on Emerald Ocean

Man if we only had that kind of money for playing the Battling Tops game back in the day.

Most unpopular opinion of the day:

I wish this game (among others) would go away already.
