<snip> I love when people come on here and say "I hope it gets shut down" and stupid shit like that. White knights, go die in a fire. Vanilla is where it's at, if you don't like it, tough. <snip>
Lets say that back in the day there were "pirate" copies of Warcraft 1, 2, 3 and of Diablo. (Quotes because piracy was an issue then as well.) And as a result Blizzard suffered financially. Ran out of money say and never got to finish a promising project they were working on called WoW.
Then I would have been able to post about "selfish folk" killing a game with potential. It didn't happen of course. Tomorrow though?
Most posters, imo, are not "anti-vanilla". Developers & publishers have needs as well though.
Archeage 3.0 there is no reason to play anything else right now.
And what's this all about?
A lot of stuff that was wrong has been fixed. Sadly it took them 2 years to get it right. Not saying its perfect but its good enough that I'm all over it.
Do not play on fresh start servers. You will only be disapointed if ,you do.

Truth in the disappointment of the fresh start but honestly, most smart people knew it would go that way. Your chances are still too high of getting booted out of game regardless of all the "fix" attempts they claim to be utilizing and it appears using a VPN is the true way to stay logged in. So that 20% that was able to get in and stay in are probably enjoying it, but not the rest.
The legacy servers have land if that was a factor for anyone. More than enough land.
For some brief fun it is probably ok, but you have to know that Blizzard will close this one too.
If they do I doubt they'll do it easily. Before, it was the result of a C&D, essentially "quit it or else". Nost decided to voluntarily quit service and try to work with Blizzard to see about getting legit classic servers. Once they realized Blizzard had no intention of acting, at least any time soon, they deiced to give the server code to the Elysium people. Now if Blizzard wants to try and close the new server down they'll have to move directly to the "or else" phase and that means the actual legal system. And that could get ugly, and not just for the Nost/Elysium server guys.
Imagine the implication of a ruling implying software developers are not legally able to force folks to the newest version of their product (specifically when asking for money for expanded/updated versions after the subsequent box purchase). Which is essentially Blizzard's assertion here: players should only be able to play the version Blizzard is currently supporting. Let's be honest, nobody anywhere truly believes a single private server is jeopardizing Blizzard's financial future.

It makes it much easier for the games industry to lobby for strengthened IP protection laws.
