why exactly do you feel the need to bring in more people by advertising this? already way too many people playing and because of that reason i'm not playing it right now.
The constant spam of more or less disguised advertisement for an illegal server is not very smart... just saying.
Encouraging people to participate in an illegal act, is somewhat reprehensible. If for instance i thought that shop lifting was an incredibly fun thing to do, huge adrenaline rush, actual rewards for success etc. should i then also encourage others do repeat this? i don't think so.
What if you're subscribed to WoW and playing Vanilla?
If you're not wearing tie-died, bell-bottom jeans, you might as well be naked.

I see where you're coming from. Vanilla WoW is not the penultimate classic MMO you make it out to be, though. Classic EQ with dungeon crawling is more challenging and stimulating than WoW at any level and in any dungeon. The problem is getting people to play that side of EQ and not the other. WoW is indeed a nostalgia bomb, but as I think of it Youtube videos seem more appealing in unleashing that bomb than playing it.
I was smart and continued playing FFXI on my JP PS2 import because I realized in 2004 as I do today; Vanilla WoW sucked ass compared to real MMORPGs.
It was a shitty themepark with long lines for mediocre rides. Fast foward 12 years and it's a shitty themepark with short lines (phasing) for shitty rides.
I don't know. I'm playing it, and it's definitely grindy. Honestly I'd rather play a new MMORPG that knew how to make these kinds of games. Problem is everyone just tries to make a copy of WoW without adding any new features. All that does is make a crappier version of WoW. And why would I want to play a copy of WoW when I can just play WoW?
Really need the next gen of MMORPG to hit the market, but I have a bad feeling the age of MMOs is kinda dying ... or at least changing so significantly us UO, EQ, WoW people will never play one like them again.

Honestly, I wont go into specifics on servers and what not, but I will say that is currently very easy to play Vanilla WoW and in flawless condition.
It's not a Nostalgia Bomb, its not "Just a themepark", its literally the MMO that became a cultural revolution in its prime and its incredible.
I grouped at level 4 you guys, LEVEL 4! To kill a spider boss mob that aggro'd on me and almost killed me in a few hits (Am Druid).
The combat for me is what I really missed, especially playing a Night Elf. Double Jumping back in forth between enemies for a quick hit and the wonders of a competent tab-target system make me wonder how so much has been lost in translation since WoW became a mega-success.
Simply put, its an experience, and if you never had it, its damn good, if you already had it, its still just damn good.
So let's see I'm supposed to play the game that "revolutionized" the industry you say? How about the fact this game was responsible for creating the "kill, loot treasure, repeat" nonsense. MMOs pre WoW actually tried to experiment and were more like living worlds vs static quest grinders. This game was the reason the industry basically is in shambles now because a decade of WoW clones. This game helped destroy or change other MMOs like SWG. This game has helped dumb down the entire genre that we are finally starting to dig out of but it may be too late. You want me to play this ? REALLY? Na I'm good, I have enough blood on my hands...
Wow you grouped to take down a spider at level 4. How about in SWG there weren't no "levels" I went to Endor with 20 ppl to go on hunts to get insect meat for my doctor pal who showed me her brand new house on Naboo. That's more entertaining to me then taking down a pathetic low level creature.
This crap is exactly why WoW Vanilla and beyond can go fuck itself. It created a generation of hand me down cry babies and elitists. It'll be remembered alright, but for many it's for all the wrong reasons.

I have to agree with this.
Before the King of MMOs/MMO Genre Killer came to town, games tried being somewhat creative to keep their players. The more there was to do, spread across fleshed out features that felt worth investing time into, was the original idea behind keeping people playing (ie. paying).
Once WoW showed a huge amount of people would continue playing (ie. paying) with a whole lot of content within a very limited number of limited features, mostly in the same ballpark of each other, developers (can you blame them?) ran the numbers and just couldn't resist going that route.
I mean, honestly, if someone gave you the option and said "the market today requires 5 to 10 fully developed features players can spend considerable amounts of time with that create an immersive experience which keeps players paying every month, possibly even 100,000 people!" or "the market today requires 2 to 5 somewhat developed features players can spend almost all of their time with that keeps them happy enough to keep paying every month, possibly 10,000,000 people!" Seriously, especially as a company looking for profits, which one are you gonna pick?

Ah, so I am doing myself a disservice by NOT repeating the worst gaming experience I have ever had?
I would rather eat live bees than play any form of WoW ever again.
That is not even counting the fact that the current Vanilla WoW servers are totally illegal and flaunting their existence in front of the IP holder begging to be thrown in jail. Blizzard already said no, and I doubt they will go the nice guy route legally anymore.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
Meh... Never felt that classic WoW was all that much to show up.. It was inferior to pretty much every game of it´s era in some way... Class customization (SWG) character customization (CoH) Open world (UO) and so on and so forth.. not to mention the questing QoL issues... That other games had pretty much solved.
Now what it did was to do all those things... well enough... and having some really nice polish.
I´d take the SWG emu over this any day.... And i´d swore to never go back to that game.. ever...
Discussing other illegal servers will seemingly remain illegal.
Thank you for this. Was wondering this myself.
In any case, I started playing at the beginning of WotLK (Before Ulduar). I spent months leveling to 80 and it was wonderful. Hard, but wonderful.
When Nost came in, -- I didn't hear about it initially. I've played on private servers here and there, but only sporadically and never for a large amount of time.
Nostalrius was something else. It was everything I ever hoped to experience again, so I decided to make the jump. Eventually, the servers became too big and I feared a Blizzard's shutdown, so I stopped playing. Obviously, what came to be... came to be.
As for Elyseum, I'm waiting for the servers to stabilize first. Right now they're a mess, but they're a good mess. I just want to wait for the rush to be gone.
So here is an off the wall question. What do they do about add-on's? Can you find old versions for whatever build this is. Also I can't imagine my experience any better than it was on live. I had a really great and unique experience as a DRUID! Not going into any stories. But it was not the norm for that class back then.

See? I can do it too! I feel like most of the people that create these types of threads have been eating a little bit too many memberberries.

That makes no sense. Are you implying that advertisement for anything is bad?
