I have played WoW since its release, or well I was a couple of weeks late to the party, but the rush of the release was still there when I had finally managed to get the game.
I found Vanilla somewhat hard and somewhat boring, my honeymoon with MMORPGs had already been with DaoC and EQ.
WoW in comparison had really nice graphics though and when I flew from Stormwind to Redridge the first time, I was sold.
Community was nice enough, the world was only just beginning to change to a more individualistic culture, so WoW started out with a very social general community.
That said though, I found Vanilla WoW so boring to lvl in, that I could never bring myself to lvl an alt. Didnt really have time either, since farming cloth and herbs (To afford a couple of extra mounts) and farming mats for flasks and food for raiding, took up all my time available.
TBC I found somewhat tedious as well, it had pretty much same pattern as vanilla, grind to lvl, grind mats for raiding and raid.
The introduction of flying got me through that Xpac though, so somehow I managed to hang on.
Then WOTLK came along and WoW finally became a game I enjoyed a lot. The easier content made a lot of raids puggable, which brought with it a very alive community.
I did not actually pug much, since I was established in a raiding guild already, but I loved seeing the buzzing community come together and after my guild moved on to new tier raids during WOTLK, I did run with pugs for the older tiers.
Was a blast and I loved the introduction of achievements also, gave me loads to do and the 2 years with WOTLK went by really fast.
Then came Cata, the world was changed intirely and for the first time I could find it enjoyable to lvl alts.
Loved MoP not because of anything in particular, the landscapes were amazing, loved flying and I liked WoW, so I was content.
Then WoD came along, not actually sure what kind of game that was... WoW death or something. But boy did I lvl a lot of alts in WoD, which was fun (now that nothing else was)
Then Legion.
The easy content is still there, the easy lvling, the easy difficulty dungs, but the rest of the game is like a wall of, repetition, increased lvl of RNG in all things and if you pug you might have to develop a like for self inflicted pain.
So what I want to say is, I find that WoW has had its ups and down, but overall it got harder and harder to the point where its actually not at all fun anymore.
Not because the easy content isnt there, but the advanced content upped so much in difficulty that at least for my own part, have come to a point of, "ok I cant do more content, game over"
So why did they have to do that?
What is the reasoning behind making lets say 5 man Mythic+ dungs up to lvl 30+ is it? (Not that I actually know anyone that does that atm, only know some who did +15)
I mean doing the exact same dungeons over and over and over and over.

When group mechanics reverts to Vanilla I might think coming back.
If you are going to make someone grind for gear, at least make it usable in all content to that point.
My raiding guild in vanilla was a bit above average, so we did not really find res gear all that important. Apart from maybe tanks the rest of us was mostly told to use our normal gear.
As example I never used my Onyxia Cloak, nor the nature res gear that I did bother to collect.
The dungeon design in vanilla was interesting compared to the open instanced raids in EQ fx, so it was exciting at first to run dungeons in WoW (Since I never did raid much in EQ, if one would call sitting down waiting for spawns raiding, and when they did spawn, trick was not to over pull, I wasnt fond of that game, people made it great though.)
But then WoW came along and being able to run dungeons and not really die a whole lot and not having to compete with other groups inside same instance, I was absolutely thrilled.
But res gear, nah, a lot of our members in my guild back then did grind it and I am sure they used it too, but as healers we were always asked not to.
But you are right, now in Legion there is no requirement to do Mythics. Raiders feel they have to, because the tier + mythics had quite high ilvl and they run them for the RNG Casino chance of getting a Legendary.
As a casual though, Mythic + and upwards has zero interest to me.
And this is why I wonder, cause what is the appeal in running these Mythics, when its repeating content over and over.
I see nothing innovative about it, but maybe I am failing to see the appeal.
Also another thing, I didnt like Vanilla. The lvling, exploring and the graphics were great, flightpaths were great, dungs were great for awhile, raiding was a rush for awhile, till we reached Cthun, then the fun vanished and its basically been gone ever since from raiding.
I did continue raiding for many years though, with a few burn out phases in between, but ultimately I had to give it up.
Tried mythic in WoD and desided it was not for human beings.
You know, while you might not be right on the mark, due to todays standard of western MMORPG that makes content for several demografs, easy content along with also hard content, Id still say you get very close to something that is on my mind every now and then.
I would like a relatively easy group and solo orientated MMORPG.
Im not a fan of the trend that we are heading towards, where developers are only listening to you hardcore boys, who need challenges in a game to get that adrenaline kicking.
This is how we ended up with Legion and this is how we will end up with many more MMORPGs with insane hard content, that some of you will play, but wont be games for me.
And Im not saying you shouldnt have these games, by all means.
But Id like an MMORPG with overall easy group content, cozy, chill, fun, good humor, a great world to explore, fun events and with all the elements I like in games already, like crafting, good graphics, great artwork with attention to details. Flying and much more.
But yeah Id like a developer that will invite the crowd of people in, that a lot of you dislike anyway, so why cant we get a tiny corner in the MMORPG world, with a game of our own?
