I am super excited about conan exiles the last live stream got me even more excited. However i would like to know if their is plans for more building blocks. Id really like to see more variety. Most of what i have seen looks like stone. Id really like to see wood and sandstone even marble and lime stone could be options. Also will their be options decoration wise or will it just be one table one chair exc.
I also would like to know if the dye system will extend to buildings like paint or if it will only be armor and weapons.
I also have a question about combat. I am not a in your face type melee person will their be valid ranged option like a strong and weak attack with the bow and arrow or a cross bow. I get that you want interesting combat but some people really don't like to be up face to face please make ranged combat interesting and a viable option.
I firstly want to thank you for this "Ask me anything" opportunity and letting us get some big questions out the way.
Well here Goes
1.) Joel some of us have played a lot of online Sandbox survival games where building your base and getting powerful has become second nature to some of us and I would like to know what is Conan Exiles looking to maybe do in the future that will make us the Exiles play this over maybe other survivals ?
2.) The character customization looks quiet cool already, everyone has their own way of wanting their heroes to look which I am a big fan of, I would like to ask do you plan on giving any of the races maybe special abilities or tributes towards maybe what their tribes where good at in historical times, that would maybe change the way multiplayer is played for example if we were to find friends online of different tribes Maybe they could cook faster or move faster or even have maybe abilities to make special items in the future of the Game ?
3.) Conan Exiles to me seems like the new age of sandbox survival which I am excited to play, The map looks amazing as well, do you plan on allowing Modding at a later stage of development ? and are you planning on bringing Expansions to the game at all ?
4.) What Anti Cheat software are you planning on releasing with your game to avoid the hacker and exploiting type of guys who make it unpleasant to play the game which could ruin our experience of Conan Exiles?
5.) Will servers be Capped to a certain amount of players or will server providers be able to change that in their server management ?
6.) How long very Roughly is Conan Exiles planning on being in development? Have you guys made a deadline in the years to come ?
7.) What has been your guys biggest challenge in the development so far Joel ?
8.) Last one Joel I would like to know what games have you played in this field of Sandbox survival that give you your experience in the development of your awesome game to come ?
Thank you !
Regards
John Rekker
Goodluck with this amazing Game !
1) We think Avatars are pretty damned interesting, as well as The Purge which should give you guys a reason to fortify. Beyond that, we think our focus on NPC citylife and thralls will create an excellent differentiation between us and other games in the genre.
2) Races will always be a cosmetic choice to avoid stepping on the toes of people who would prefer to choose their own backstory for their character.
3) We will allow modding either with EA launch or very soon after. Expansions/DLC are not planned as we are focused on the game we are going to deliver right here and now.
4) We're in discussions with a few of them and will announce something as soon as contracts and stuff are nailed down. It might not be in place at EA launch, but if not, it will come soon after.
5) Our cap currently is 70, and I'd need to check with out CTO if that is a soft or hard cap
6) We want to spend no longer than a year in Early Access! Our plans are aligned with that.
7) Combat and AI have been very difficult to nail down and it is a process I expect to continue well into the Early Access period. There is a lot to consider with server based action combat!
8) Most of them. I love, in particular, The Forest and Ark. Reign of Kings had some great ideas as well.
I have some questions about gameplay and systems in place regarding guild/friends interactions.
1. Is there any system in place for prevent friendly fire between friends or guild mates?
2. I'm not sure how the spaning system works and if there is a way to find your friends/guild if it happens that your spawns are very far from each other?
3. Does the size of a friend group or guild matter when it comes to the size/quantity/quality of the structures you can build?
What do you think of the response from media/public so far? There seem to be a fair amount of hype out there already Will you allow for people who are gonna host servers to preorder/predownload the game so they have all set up for launch?
Also, what are your opinions about alien truncheon porn?
1) Will you guys share a road map with the community? Like sharing all the ETA's on patches and its contents.
2) How long will be the Early Access phase?
3) How many servers there will be and where will they be located?
1) We'll share the next big update that is coming and talk with the community as we go about what we are planning and working on. The idea of Early Access is for us to be able to react and not lock ourselves in to a hard schedule. 2) We expect it not to be longer than a year 3) Well, we have many and in most regions. But you can have your own as well and put it wherever you like!

They have talked about different building-styles from different biomes, requiring different materials, so building that wooden house in the desert might be quite a hassle, but doable.
Hope this helps ^^
“None could guess my confusion, my host of deluded illusions and elusive delusions! A mantle of marble hiding a crumbling core of sandstone. See how they stare at me, wondering, all wondering, at my secret wellspring of wisdom...'
1) Are there options for hardcore servers with perma-death?
2) With the level cap, will you be able to learn or unlock all recipes? Or will we have to be selective?
3) In the stream you mentioned that server wipes are undecided yet. Any change on that? Will server admins on private servers be able to reset their server easily?
4) The power difference between the building tiers seemed rather huge on the stream. Will it be the same with the other gear?
The "Titans" we've seen in the trailers, are they a force you can wield against other player bases? If so, how difficult is it to summon one, and how would players go about stopping one?
Will you be closely monitoring/tweaking the balance between how difficult it is for a player to construct a base and how easy it is for a player to destroy one?
Will there be some sort of added protection for your base while you and the rest of your crew are offline?
In similar games in the past, it often took hours upon hours to gather materials and construct a base, yet it was way too easy to break into a base and steal everything, especially while the owners were offline. It felt like no matter how hard you worked to protect your stuff, it could be undone in a few minutes.
1) I think I saw before that tattoos, beards, and other cosmetics were going to be items able to be equipped. I assume we're supposed to craft them, but... can beards be worn by both genders? What would beards even be crafted from?
2) Any chance we can have warpaint on our buildings (like graffiti, or just pre-made decals of some sort)?
1. We already know about thralls, but what about fauna? Can we tame beasts or something else (like dino's in ARK)?
2. Sorcery. What about it? We can cast "fireball" or what?
1. You will be able to tame beasts later in Early Access. But it will not work like Ark and as mentioned above, we are still planning the exact details. 2. Sorcery - you can learn it later in Early Access. You cannot cast fireballs. We plan to keep in line with the low fantasy theme of the Howard stories (but you might be able to craft a globe of witchfire re Xaltotun if you are lucky!)
Will a character’s appearance and size affect player Hitboxes during Combat? Will a character’s limb/extremity appearance determine what distance/length a player’s swing will be? (Example: A very long armed character has more reach with his weapons. The larger the character, the larger the Hitbox area is)
The Avatar System looks incredible. Jens stated that “You control the avatar”. Does that mean we will be in First Person/Third Person when controlling the Avatar, and able to move around with similar movements like our regular character? What does the Set Avatar (Serpent) do? Does it protect an area when activated?
Why are there separate color coded bars for the Encumbrance Icon? When you are in the yellow, does that mean your movement speed is affected? Does Encumbrance affect a player’s movement and sprint speed?
Can you just give us one detail or hint about the “Physique” system and how that affects us players? You and Jens did say it was going to be a surprise, and some “Cool shit” to come.
Wanted to say thank you for doing the Livestreams every two weeks! Just hope you and Jens do a few more than regular before EA launches.
1. You're not thinking about this correctly :P The weapon sweeps are all the same size, but the distance from the player is determined by their size. A long armed character will have a longer reach, but will be unable to hit things that stand too close to him. So watch out for those dagger wielders if you go that route.
2. Jens Erik's mouth is writing checks that his body can't cash. We will show all avatars soon and how they work (hint - it's fucking awesome!)
3. Encumbrance affects movement speeds and stamina usage.
4. Lol, you mean the character creation slider? It's a character setup thing and won't be there at EA launch. Will be added later. It's what is hidden under that button that you'll find interesting when we launch EA.
Will there be a competitive element released further down the line à la Ark:SOTF? I'd love to see a quick and dirty combat oriented mode in the Conan setting.
First off, I'm very excited for this. Love the combat system as well as the art design.
My question is if there will be tombs, dungeons, caves, essentially places to explore, to discover. And what size are we talking about? Will they just be one or two rooms or perhaps something more involved with many passages/rooms?
If so, how many will be included at Early Access as well as release (keeping in mind that obviously things can change over the course of development).
We will have caves/dungeons of different sizes. They are not instances, but parts of the world. Some are small, some are larger. The ruined city in the middle of the map can be considered a gigantic open world dungeon.
I have no idea as we keep adding them as we go. I punched a camel in frustration when I figured out I had to populate those with cool stuff!

2. Didn't want to put him in the spotlight, But I'm really stoked to see to see more of the Avatar system.
Q: Will you use community translations for CE like others did (ARK or LIF for example) - https://crowdin.com/ We are eager to translate CE into our native language (Czech) to share the love and blood among our tribe!
Thanks for your time and answer.
LG
We're launching with 11 languages on our end - but your suggestion sounds interesting! We should def look into it for extra languages. Cheers!
Note to all - I am running out of time so will start skipping questions that have been answered or that can easily be answered with a google search!
So here is a question for you guys. At some point in the development will there be building pieces, other than what we have seen, based on other cultural styles?

By PVE I mean, possibly dungeons, bosses, unique loot, exploration etc etc
And of course, this is only possible on a PvE server.
When you die will your gear drop?
Will there be PVP and PVE servers?
Is there indept crafting?
What is the death punishment for when you die?

No locations from AoC but recongizable stuff? Oh yeah. Plus you know, the story of Exiles is a prequel to AoC. Just sayin'
I have no idea as we keep adding them as we go. I punched a camel in frustration when I figured out I had to populate those with cool stuff!
4. C'mon!
