The whole P2W was overblown and he is glad to come back.
Yep! That was actually a good video. I agree with the points he made.
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
Can someone make a quick summary of what's better?
- No more energy cost for cooking, alchemy & processing. - There's a catch up mechanic for returning players. - The world's bigger than ever. - Ocean content is dropping this coming Wednesday (the 25th) - P2W claims turned out to be grossly exaggerated (but not everyone's going to be willing to admit they were wrong, especially on this site) - It's hard to compete with how gorgeous BDO's world is.
Were some of the things the video listed.

Probably the main selling point I heard was that people are limited by how much they can sell from the CS on the AH per week. Alot of games would be better if there was a cap like that (looking at you AA)
Great video and I agree wholeheartedly. The new content on the sea is exciting and looks like it will revolutionize the sea stuff am looking forward to reading about it. Will come back once I find time.
This guy is spot on. When it says "Maybe I should play this game casually and enjoy all of its non competitive aspects", he basically caught the essence of BDO. Too many people play this game like every other MMO (rush to end game) and miss what BDO is about. This is a MMO that has depth, you can't rush it. This game is about the journey not the end game, something rare to find in current MMOs.
Journey is usually the best part of any MMO. They're built on dreams and hope, from their levelling systems to the creation of new zones and gathering of new gear. Once that ends, there isn't much to an MMO besides gameplay that by nature can never be as in-depth as games that are more focused on just gameplay.
I'm playing again. Peon's video inspired me as I've been trying to settle in an MMO and Neverwinter just wasn't doing it for me, despite the fact I wanted a D&D fix.
BDO has its flaws and I certainly do miss dungeons, but the world is so beautiful and immersive. I love the fact there is so much to do even if it's just following my personal goals, farming, trading and working on my knowledge and amity.
somone must have paid that guy to advertize this garbo while 2x event is running. This is not even a MMO, its a solo grinder with pretty graphics.
Sadly its hard to tell, but every Youtuber has a price just like every Twitch streamer.
Top streamers have prime time slots that cost $10,000+ per hour and yes Riot, Blizzard.. etc will pay them to have their game played by someoke who has millions of followers.
Its the cheapest and highest return on marketing dollar.
Let's not jump to conclusion though, as what the guy was saying is what most of us who play BDO think. He wasn't talking crazy shit. I could have said the same exact things for free, as I totally agree with him, so if he gets pay for it good for him.
Like I said its hard to tell, but if he is taking payments its always a possibility.
also talking crazy shit, or pushing the game hard is a sure sign that someone wasnt paid because that always drives players away.
Nope, talking crazy shit is talking about things no one agrees with. In this case most of the people who plays BDO agrees with him, not because it is talking nicely about the game but for the specific things he says that coincide with the way we all feel. He described exactly what the key features of BDO are.
Let's not start conspiracy theory though. Yes it is possible he took money, like every Vlogger, Game Website, and Blogger on the internet, it is kind of a given there is this strong possibility But we have no proof so no point in dragging the issue any further.
Let's disagree on what he says rather than undermine him with groundless accusations.

well that is partially true. One can solo (I do it a lot) but one can group up. Besides Pirates and Sausans, you can go to other areas that are a bit tougher and level if you choose them when you are below that area.
there are whole places that people never go, probably don't even know about. There's a place over the water from Medea and way south with large steel clad worms. All the time I was there I think I saw one person.
Now, again, the alternate places are not top choice but for the most part you can level there and not be bothered by others.
Get a guild group and go.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
As a bitter old bastard, I have to ask. Is the reason you really are returning to this game is because it has been massively improved, or because there is absolutely nothing released since that can take its place?
I would say that given his reasons, he overreacted like many and now that there is nothing "new" to play has realized that the game, when played for what it is over what it isn't, is actually fun.

I agree with most of what's said, I've never been a grinder who has to have the best gear, PvP is not my thing and the lack of raiding treadmills means it really doesn't matter unless that really is your playstyle. For a casual solo centric game it's great fun, I've got thousands of hours for a pretty small investment. I've added inventory and a couple of pets, they are needed but value for money wise I feel I've gotten great value from it.
From an immersion point of view I love that there is no fast travel, that is the one biggest contributer to that feeling of a cohesive world IMHO.
