Legends Of Aria vs Albion Online - which one for more casual?

TweFojuTweFoju Member UncommonPosts: 1,236
So with the announcement of Shards Online changing the names to Legends Of Aria and now a full MMORPG instead of little shards made by the community,

it has pretty much similar feature as Albion ( or maybe more ), both are now a full loot open world game with everything player made in game,

which one do you guys think would be better for more casual player crafter that still love to Craft / farm and a little bit of fun pvp? its tough now that both are open world and full loot pvp

ps: i actually tried Albion long time ago during the Alpha ( Legendary ), but then the game revolves only around GvG, everything you do, be it crafting, gathering and farming, it all led towards the GvG purpose. other than that, the PvE was okay,

is Legend of Aria almost the same as Albion?

thoughts?

So What Now?

I've played both a little but got the same GvG vibe from Albion whereas Aria had that old school UO vibe where I felt more like I could play how I wanted and at my own pace, instead of needing to join a guild and compete.  I plan on trying both at release and have backed both, just my two cents.

But the character models in Albion suck !

Looks like Mine Craft maybe PVP is great but they need to be a tad better lol.

Played in 3 betas for Albion Online, and about 2 days in Shards/Legends of Aria. Gotta give it to Legends of Aria hands down, you've got to treat Albion as a job if you want to be decent at whatever it is you do in that game.

And past a certain point you HAVE to be in a guild, not really worth playing without friends/no lifing/spending tons of money on.

Legends of Aria is way more solo/small group/casual friendly.

That is the problem i had during the Alpha in Albion Online, all the fun only happens when you join big alliances as 80% of the content happens in the black zone, i was always a red player because my guild weren't big enough to survive in Black zones, and we didn't want it to force us to disband and join the big guilds. so we have to be satisfy playing in the red zone,

Shards were always on my radar, but the small shards indeed was a blow for me.

also, how is the Legends of Aria pve compared to Albion Online?

    So What Now?

That post was helpful to me.  I've been wondering some about Albion lately but what you described is the impression I got when I was looking around on their site.

I'm pretty sure if I played Albion I would end up being forced to join some big guild where I would be at the very bottom of the pecking order and because I can't devote my life to a game I would most likely be relegated to harvesting basic crafting materials for the no lifers who are the designated master craftsmen of the guild.  Not a very appealing prospect for me.

as an old UO player who really hasnt liked any MMO since UO , well let me rephrase that no MMO has held my attention long since UO im pumped that Shards is making the move to a true mmo and cant wait to try it ! Albion always seemed odd to me and just never felt the need to give it a shot . its nice to see feedback from ppl who have tryed both

I'm loving Albion.  I've played it since the first alpha.  This game will not be one of those big hype games, than just fall off after a few months of release.  If you love full loot pvp, and a huge community of players from all around the world, this is the game for you.  It's kinda of funny tho how a lot of these guilds in this game seem to segregate based on there ethnicity or maybe its there time zone.  Huge N/A, Brazzillian, European/Russian population.  If your interested more in Albion message me, or take a look at hit thru my link:)
